Dakota Digital Gauges in S10

I'm installing some Dakota Digital VHX gauges meant for an 88-94 fullsize into my 1993 S10. This is how Chevrolet should have done it!

I guess you guys were onto something. Dakota Digital now makes a direct fit cluster using this gauge style.

Good description of those 1st gen gauges by Dakota Digital, "Hideous Alarm clock", exactly. Project is coming along nicely, It will be so worth all the work when you get to drive it.

Haha thanks! I thought it was fitting. And I know, I can't wait to drive it! I thought I'd be chomping at the bit here toward the end, but I've actually been fighting a lack of motivation. Idk why, but it has seemed like such a chore to go down to the garage recently

If you went from analog to digital how much modifying did you have to do? Did it all just plug-in to the new digital dash you installed or did you have to convert from analog to electrical? I want to do it to my 91S 10 but I have analog and not sure how we go about with it I don’t know if the wires from analog plug right into the digital or if you have to have a background in electrical engineering

The original S10 clusters are crispy crunchy aged plastic & near impossible to take apart to swap out 1 guage without severely damaging them. I replaced my oil guage 25 years ago, and 20 years ago the needle fell off the guage. So my oil pressure gauge is my ears. If it rattles, I'll know it's low on oil pressure. Besides, there's a low oil pressure idiot light just in case on my 86.

I only have OBD2 because of my LS swap. You don't need to run BIM module. The DD gauges come with all the needed sending units. And the earlier first gens would be a lot easier to put attractive gauges in I'd imagine, since they already have round gauges
