For 800 bucks, DD should have made it plug and play.... Literally plug into the stock harness plug, and done. Cutting wires, and running more wires and sensors is redundantly stupid.

This gauge set doesn't use the stock sending units, regardless of engine in the truck. The older VFD3-88C-PU-U. gauges does plug into stock harness, and uses the stock sending units... but you did have to pull the old moonie's out, and cut/mod the bezel for it. The only application VHX would make sense for, is a dash out, ground up, restoration with new wire harness. They look great.. but like I said.. to much hassle for 800.

Justin Jones Sr it’s all personal opinion. It’s well worth it to me as the originals are terrible. There are gauges for cheaper, but you get what you pay for. Cheap quality, poor looking gauges that are made overseas. These are all USA made and have a lifetime warranty. We never see issues with these and sell them often. Many see the value. Maybe these gauges aren’t for you, which is fine, and sure there are some $200 gauges out there for you.

Dakota doesn't offer a plug in module for the OBDI and just the OBDII. So in this case, you will use the sensors provided in the box to get that information such as water temp and oil pressure. If you have a mechanical speedo, it will also include a convertor to electronic.

You need to keep your starter solenoid wire from your park neutral safety switch plug and run it through a relay....Wiring diagram comes with the GSS-3000 to run your Relay for the starter. It sounds confusing but its not....don't get discouraged.

We used a stand alone harness. When going with Dakota Gauges, you just pull the wires necessary from the LS harness for speed, tach and check engine light. Or we used their OBDII plug in with the gauges, and pulled it all from the OBDII port.

We obviously know nothing about these trucks... lol... we barely work on them. Genius, this is because we just mainly want to show that the gauges are simplistic to install in these trucks. It is also to grab more attention for people searching as all don't know the dashes change. So, for marketing purposes, it works better to help people find it.... genius (but sure you knew that). And the description better clarifies it is a 88-94 dash specifically.
