2:16 when you enjoying the sun in your face! That is what it's all about, the beauty of our country. You appreciate life, sun, the wilderness, the nature and everything else more! Probably one of many reasons why swedish are a happy people!
Well done man. For may months now I have been looking to southern Europe, but after spending a week in Northern Finland this year I am coming round to the idea of life in the freezer. As an Ms sufferer I felt no pain in -26 to -35, however the sun makes me sweat as a part of the condition. I look forward to you videos of the summer months. Keep going, your making progress and that is the most important thing.
I cannot imagine. Thanks for letting me experience a place I will never see in person. SC/USA
Hi Ash my Grand son who is over here from Norway where he has just moved to with his young lady, and it was so nice to compare notes about him living in a similar climate to yours and when I mentioned Lost in Europe he said oh you mean Ash so there is myself from WALES and my G/son in Norway discussing your life in Sweden, keep up the good work by the way I am 80 yrs old and still out in the camper as I here you saying what you may be doing in the future,God bless.

Haha wow small world! Don't you just love the internet sometimes 😊
In northeast Scotland we don’t lose the sun completely, however we do suffer from an almost continuous cloud cover for much of winter, and the lack of sun is physically noticeable. On rare sunny days I run outside and spend as much time as I can soaking it in. I can’t imagine also dealing with all the deep snow and extreme temps! It’s beautiful though…thank you for sharing 🌿

Even back in England the winters aren't exactly sunny haha! But it's different, even with the cloud I think the energy still gets through to you. On our plot though there is literally zero, even on the clearest days. You just get that pink sky for a while. Good job it's stunning to look at 😅

can't wait to move to Scotland to have winters in my life again. Miss it down South
I used to live up in north of Sweden when I was young. Your videos really touch my heart now when Iiving in Stockholm and the winters here is a joke. Thank you for bringning that wonderful feeling back! I remember the feeling going to school at -36deg.C when the cars wouldn't start if not preheated. I used a kick slege (sparkstötting) as transport vihicle. 😀

Best view,best moments,the time is stop,perfect moment of life✌️✌️✌️
"-20 is a fun challenge, -30 is a bit daft" I think I agree! I should be heading that way at the end of winter for some traveling, gotta graduate first. If you need help for a few days just shout. :)
Its always a special occasion for me when you release a KZread video Ash, give my regards to Marie!

Only very recently found your channel, and have been binge watching your content. I must say that I find it incredibly relaxing and this gives us a feeling of escapism... Cheers
I would be happy if we could have a winter landscape like this again in Germany for a few weeks. In the last 20 years I can only remember 2005 and 2006 when temperatures were - 18°C and colder and we had almost 1 meter of powder snow. For the week before Christmas 2023, heavy rain is forecast with the risk of flooding and from December 22nd, 2023 there will be a Orcane with gusts of up to 100 kmh in the high altitudes and after that there may be snow. 🌨️🌠⛄🎄🎅
This channel is just amazing
ill be buying my house in Sweden just like this in the next month or so, love this channel sooooooo much
The sun is a primitive need isn’t it? How lovely to be in that pristine wilderness and see the sun.
Your determination is admirable. Pioneers are not only in the past but exist today. My Great, Great, Great Grandmother pushed a handcart from Missouri to the Great Salt Lake Valley in Utah. Courage and vision and trust are alive now as well . Thank you for sharing your Pioneering beautiful existence ❣️
I can not imagine living that far North, North of Paris would be too North for me. I admire your tenacity, all the best.
I have to say, Im from Finland and I have lived my whole life in Rovaniemi (home of santa claus etc etc basically arctic circle town) and I can feel the happiness you showed at the start of the video when you saw sun first time after dark season. Its the most incredible feeling in the world. When I was kid, we used to celebrate that with icecream :D We called it "party of the first sun" or in finnish "ensi auringon juhla". And, unfortunately, that is not any kind of ritual in Finland or part of finnish/arctic coulture. It was just little special day in our family. If I ever move back to area where is period when you cant see sun, I will totally bring that tradition back! Also, I love your content! I am just moving into van and damn I cant wait to just see everything I always wanted.
Wonderful moments.....THANK YOU for sharing this video .

As beautiful as it is, I would not want to live there. I am happy in my beautiful Ireland 🇮🇪 North West.
There’s be a bucket in the house for the loo if it were that cold! Pretty birds.
Outstanding video! That sky at the ending was the icing on this cake. With all you two have to do just to stay mobile and warm, you still manage to wow us with your videos. 😊🚚
Hope your'e getting your vitamin D in on those cold dark winter months ))) Stunning vid thx!!!
I always love your Vlogs and what amazing winter wonderland you've both chosen to live in and settle in
Fair play to you both! I don't think i'd make it in those extremes as I like heat way too much. I'd have the firewood and food for three months in the same room as myself and not leave until spring 😆 Beautiful film guys 👍
it is always so nice to watch your video's, i am not always watching but when i watch it is always a pleasure. i still want to go in my 45 year old mercedes come over and visit you, just have a drink and then go back to my comfortabel life. I was in Lapland a year ago and it feels so nice that i want to go back....ones, just to feel the loneliness again and than live my live..... normal, with my wife and do things together. I love the music you use on your video's, fits perfectly in the sfeer you show. I feel a little sorry for your van's, the're just standing there.....

Fabulous video, thanks for sharing your story. Fantastisk video, tack för att ni delar med dig av er historia.
I love your place! Looks like you've found your spot! :) I have to say that while I do love the ultra wide for the cinematic bigger shots, it feels very disorienting to me to watch the vlog style/close ups with an aspect ratio like that. Just sharing my experience, the content is stunning. No matter what, I will keep watching. ;)
Happy new year ,guys , made up for you with your place there ...enjoy 👍🚐⛷️
Always happy to see when you post!

Lovely with creaking snow when walking.
Ash great to see u enjoy the simple things in life, the slight warmth from the sun on your face, throwing hot water in the air I just want to know why you didn't put stripes in the snow with your snow mower🤣

@@OKuusava Yes 50/50 it should hold for almost -40, add more antifreeze after that and it will not only not help it will make it freeze earlier.
Absolutely beautiful
Lovely to watch your vids. In a lot of high ceilings I have noticed heat tubes. These are pipes or ducts which take hot air near the ceiling and with an electric fan suck the heat down to a lower level. Hot air close to ceilings is wasted so reused at lower level in same room of different room. Maybe an idea you could adopt. Used mainly in factories in the UK. Cheers from old George
@LostInEurope
2 жыл бұрын
I like this idea. It actually gets "too hot" upstairs, even below -20. We sometimes have to open the deck to let some cold in! Some kind of heat recovery to downstairs is definitely on the cards
@MakeDoAndMend1
2 жыл бұрын
@@LostInEurope I would imagine that 6inch or 8inch bore flex farmers drain pipe to be low cost. But duct fans maybe expensive. Even a shower duct fan may work. Cheers from George and Jane. 🤠👍👫🇬🇧
The only good thing with clouds during winter is that it gets warmer, the moment you have a clear sky the temperature drops hard. But ofc we need the sun, i remember one winter (almost all winters though lol) i didn't see the sun for at least one month. i'm used to it but i get why people can get depressed, so take your D vitamin if you're not from sweden.
@LostInEurope

Oh definitely! The clouds make daily tasks bearable haha. It's been pretty clear over us this winter to be fair but the sun doesn't reach our property at all for a few months even on the clearest days.
Fantastic video . My slightly warped humour wonders if a hover mower would do a better job than your poor little snow blower bless it lol . Love the joy and the wonder in your face Ash with the “ I wonder what would happen if” look in your eyes and your tractor makes me smile , even that’s younger than me haha . Marie’s looking radiant! Take care .

Hi Ash and Marie... Have you thought of dealing with your deisel heater exhaust freezing up problem the same way combi gas boilers deal with condensate? That is to have the exhaust pipe insulated and buried in the ground going into a perforated chamber about 1m from the building. This way the condensate/water does not freeze and just soaks away through the ground. Regarding the gases im sure if its deep enough 3 foot + the gases will just rise up the chamber and disperse through a grate of stones on top. Not saying this would work defo but worth a look into when summers back and permafrost is gone for digging... Merry Christmas... ps. Also noticed massive heat loss on your roof above your sky light may be worth an investigate too! thanks for great video guys
Standing in the Sun. I remember it well.
Hi Ash & Marie I've never commented but have been watching your videos since episode 001 - 3 years ago. I've been living in my little Toyota Hiace for 7 years and have loved following along with your story and developments. One day I hope to have the confidence to start filming but for now I just gather photos and videos for my own private diary. I wondered if you would be open to discussing the residency with me? I'm classed as self employed with web development and marketing so I'm finding it hard to gather information about what sort of visa to get. I just assume you have gone down the same route I would need to. We are desperate to escape to Sweden and have the savings to now buy a cabin - damn Brexit!
I don't even think eyelids have enough UV protection when staring into the sun lol. Always 15° off !😁😁
10:10 The Little Snowblower That Could. 😂🤣
Tip: take some D-vitamin for the missing sun. That helps :)
