ROUND-BREAKING AI BRINGS HISTORY TO LIFE - NEW EXHIBITION UNVEILS THE UNTOLD STORY OF A GILDED AGE AMERICAN HEIRESS.
A new exhibition offers a glimpse into the captivating world of Alberta Sturges Montagu, the 9th Countess of Sandwich, and an American Heiress from the renowned era known as The Gilded Age.
Curated by Mapperton’s very own American Viscountess, Julie Montagu, the "American Heiress" collection is comprised of more than 10,000 previously unseen letters exchanged between Alberta (Sturges) Montagu and her family, as well as the peerage at large.
Dating from 1888 to 1951, these letters constitute the largest unpublished private collection of correspondence from the period. They offer a remarkable glimpse into the life of a "dollar bride" during the Gilded Age, shedding light on both triumphs and struggles.
The exhibition takes innovation to the next level by introducing Alberta AI, a ground-breaking creation that brings her story to life like never before.
“With the aid of cutting-edge AI technology, we've resurrected Alberta's voice, allowing her to answer visitors’ burning questions about her remarkable journey,” says Julie Montagu, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke.

After decades of being married, living in England, It is normal. I would have taken on in a month the accent. It makes me uneasy this constant observation of her pronunciation. People seem to hawk it. American who speaks Spanish, I adapt immediately to the local accent. Mexican,Central American, South, Spain Got razzed and mocked for it. I wish there were a total acceptance of her process. Now adding Italian. It would make me self conscious.Just from my vantage point . Wish people would stop pointing this out .

I think in your window you need a large hand blown vase of many colors, so the sun shines through it and shines jewels of color around the room. Get an oversized one and don’t put any thing in it like reeds or dried grasses. Let the light from your window have a free path through it so it sparkles. You could put a small assortment of colored bottles of different shapes and colors up there too. Italy is known for beautiful glass and that is a great window sill for displaying some!

My suggestion for above the kitchen sink in front of that nice new clean window, would be three or four pots of mother-in-law tongues. They are a beautiful plant that can offer you privacy and they can live through some pretty bad drought. They're the perfect plant for people who kill plants.

Well done, Julie! The place is looking so lovely, elegant, and comfortable! I just have one teeny, tiny idea about the living room. What would you think about reversing the positions of the two wonderful glass-topped tables at either end of the couch? At least from what I can see on the video, the larger square table sticks out just enough that people might feel a bit of a risk - even if it's subconscious - of bumping their knee on that metal corner as they're coming down the steps. This could just be me, but I think the smaller round table would create an easier sense of flow as you enter this room. Also - oh god, here I go - what about removing the square painting behind the hat rack and hanging an oval mirror in its place, to match the curving lines of the other pieces on that wall? Thanks so much for asking for our input, and I hope I haven't over-stepped your generous invitation!

Looks so good, Julie! Nice job to you and all the workers! Since you're not going to have a mop board (you painted instead) just remember that the couch an other pieces of furniture can make nicks in the wall, so maybe get some square rubber stoppers to put under the legs to keep that from happening? Putting up a chair rail also is good at preventing damage to the walls. Just a suggestion.

For that high window nook, what about an antique water vessel? Either pottery or glass... something that looks ancient! Or an ancient Etruscan olive oil vessel! With handles! Large enough to warrant that space and to draw the eyes up! So glad to find another 'collector' of tea towels! I am not alone in my gathering and 'rescuing' of these beautiful textiles! For the dingy crocheted lace pieces -- try soaking them overnight in some Oxy-Clean. If the fibers were originally white, they will come clean (or whiten up) after several overnight soaks in that Oxy-Clean or similar. Perhaps sun bleaching on your terrace in full sun, too. I am having SERIOUS kitchen envy! Can hardly wait for the final full reveal!

Those lace strips are not hard to crochet, so if you know someone who crochets or will teach you to do so, you could easily produce some new ones to take their place. If you wanted off white, then tea dye them when finished. Ten years ago I would have happily made some for you but arthritis has finally caught up with me & so I am no longer able to continue knitting or crocheting. Actually, you could also knit them as I have done knitted laced strips in the past. You just need to go online for a pattern.

@@louisebrislane6607 Yes! There are also some newer crocheted lace designs available in craft or sewing shops. Some are quite nice. Those in the video looked vintage and wrapped around the edges of the shelves. A look I had not seen before, but very effective for a vintage piece like that. Behind closed doors, the kitchen fumes and odors might not make them too icky around pottery and glass.

Get a watering vessel for the window plant. They are ball shaped with a long neck. You put them upside down into the soil, and they drip water into the plant roots.

What you would place on that window ledge depends on how often you will open that window as you'll have to move things out of the way to open the window. I say figure it out once you've lived in it a bit. You can find well-made artificial plants these days. Greenery up there would look great. Hello from Toronto (but born in London) 🇨🇦 🇬🇧

This is my fav room in your house. Love everything in the kitchen and the green as well. When I saw the black stove, I thought .."that's too bad"...so happy to see you will soon have an Italian one. I needed a new stove here on Cape Cod and decided on a white Bertazzoni which elevated my whole kitchen. I am still learning how to use all the burners and the oven. . If your oven gives a loud bang after about 10-12 minutes ..the technician all tell me that is normal though I have never heard a bang in any other stove. They say that is may diminish over time or completely go away. There is company in the States that imports handmade tiles like yours and they are the only ones I am considering for my kitchen. You should feel very proud of yourself having done so much of the work yourself.

I have a large philodendron plant, started from a cutting, growing in a pretty vase of water, no soil. It has thrived for years in just a large vase of water, which I top off only occasionally, and it climbs to fill the space. It is able to survive and thrive in neglect. Best wishes.

Totally agree with you regarding upholstered furniture where food is prepared. Julie, you have no idea how nasty that can become! If you've ever cleaned the top of a fridge or high cabinets in a kitchen after a period of time, there is a film build-up of greasy dust that is hard to remove on hard surfaces. Think about how that would settle into fabric! OH NOOOO!
