Residency, MOT, etc, will in all likelihood turn out just fine. And if they don't, the world is still not going to end. 🙏🏽😌 And isn't it weird how the smoke of an open fire seems to follow you no matter where you sit? 😂 Come on! Build an igloo (I suggested that at your last video)! You'll regret not having done it when the snow is gone. Gives you something to do. 👍🏽😉

Good luck with your MOT a when it comes my vans MOT seemed to come along very quick from last year I did 6 miles since 2020 no worries it passed with flying colours , I have not seen any of your videos for a while what with chemotherapy and trying to save for different parts for my camper build . I see the appeal with open plan living... But that's a big old space to keep warm! maybe some internal sliding doors would be a good idea so you have the option of a Snug type room which is far easier to keep warm, maybe also sliding doors / wall for the bedroom area? Just a thought as after living in Orkney for several years a Snug is the way forwards..could also run some radiators or the wood burner to heat the other rooms etc and i'd build a wood lift lol a bit like a external dumb waiter :-) Great location Ash and well chuffed for you both..Roll on Spring!

if you are both in this together dont worry have doubts if its not what you both want if it is then fill your boots get in one of those buildings which ever is the easiest to make warm and comfortable

Having watched this first with you saying at the beginning that it was (obviously) snowing, and then watching the new upload from CJ in Portugal where he was trying his best to get us to see that it was snowing, really got me chuckling.

Your plans for the barn - I know what you want but you honestly need a warm open hallway for boots/cold weather gear, shift the bathroom/kitchen down a bit :)) MOT chat/email DVLA - all working at home with nothing to do. May give extension as NO TRAVEL allowed into UK officially !!

I wish I was there with you guys to help you out with your ideas up in the attic oh, I framed Custom Homes in Texas for 20 some odd years. Then I remodeled homes when my health started getting bad, which I did all on my own by myself no helpers or anything. When I put my name on something it means a great deal that it is right oh, and I could never trust anybody else enough to do the work that I did. So I always did it by myself. Luckily I am seeing your videos show up on my phone oh, as I enjoyed them very much. Hoping that you guys are okay can you stay that way and you can get everything together the way you want to. Bless you always may peace be upon you.

Thank you for another gorgeous video! You make perfect sense, no need to say more. Also, I think it may seem that you are making impulsive or last minute decisions but you’ve traveled a lot, had many different experiences and learned a lot along the way. I think all those experiences and life lessons combine to give you that “gut feeling”. I think we, probably, don’t trust that feeling enough and end up wasting our one life because we stop and try to research and prove every step logically and sometimes we end up in trouble because we don’t trust when our gut tells us not to do something. Intuition isn’t magic, it’s our brain putting together past experiences and giving us a quick message. I think what you two have done is extremely exciting and you’re so talented and resourceful. If anyone can do this, you can! We can never know what the future holds but I think you’d be right to feel optimistic. Wishing you both the best of luck!

I did think about this but we want to try and make it "cold safe" so if we were to leave for a bit during winter wouldn't need to worry about heating. Going for the absolute minimal piping. Who knows though, time will tell 😊

many years ago when i started driving in Europe for a living i only did Scandinavia because i don't like the heat, the winters can be brutal but amazing at the same time i did it for 32years but now retired and driving my motorhome about in stead.you never no we might bump into each other one day good luck

Hey Ash, you should download sketch up and work on the layout so you can see it 3D. Simple software to use! I used it for framing out a tiny house. Give it a go 👍🏻

since you follow your heart, everything will be fine up there for you two, i am sure. now, i dont wonna be the smartass here and mess with your dreams but i urgently wonna add some input to your thought process of that flat. please keep the watertank and a waterheater downstairs and add a few more liters, since you are out in the middle of nowhere. you know, some days are diamonds and some days are stones and you dont want to carry that water up there when you are feeling crapy. also, why not put a little walk in closet between the bed and the livingroom in order to avoid clutter and you need storage anyway. half a meter more for that bathroom, you will thank me later LOL. i am excited too. this is gonna be great there. best wishes !!!

Hi Ash Marie and bobble, like your plan for the barn will be spot on and cozy too! Did work for a company some moons ago who did the odd under pinning job. They used steel jacks to support whatever building it was and always reinforced the footings which is a bit of work but very doable, am sure you will get it done as it is timber and is a lot easier to work with. Your not missing anything here in the UK... getting your residency will take a bit of time but hey you have come this far it’s just a waiting game... “all will come to those who wait” keep ya chin up pal and thank you for the update.
