Great video. Looking to add more reds to my collection this year. Earwigs are the bane of my existence too although I've never had them eat the tubers. Was thinking of trying double -sided tape on the stems to keep them from climbing up to the blooms? And lots more beer can traps. Ughh 😢

Oh I’ve never thought of double sided tape! That could work! I know people put Vaseline on the stems and say it works but I’ve never tried it. I go old school with hot soapy water… clearly it’s working for me! 😂

Great video Carla. I was waiting! lol I was in elementary school last full eclipse here. Teachers made us turn our desks away from the windows and put our heads donw. I remember it got dark as night and gradually got brighter. Enjoy and protect your eyes!

Oh that’s awesome Rose! I got my eclipse glasses ready to go! Ordered them in 2023 and double checked they’re on the approved list! Getting our snacks packed tonight!

@@gardenobsessed and as far as dahlias. Have you just planted them out without pre sprouting. If they can tolerate a light frost do you plant them before the last frost date? I can see the allure of just planting them directly.

Yup I did quite a few the first year I grew a lot, mostly because I had ordered them that winter and was receiving them at planting time. I don’t think the foliage would handle a frost but if you plant the tubers 1-2 weeks before last frost, it’ll take them that long to break the surface. Maybe we will experiment this year! 😉
