It all started with a potted pepper plant in 2016! Since then my garden has steadily grown. I don’t own a farm or a homestead (though a girl can dream), but a gardener’s gotta grow! I consume every video I can about gardening (not to mention books, magazines, podcasts etc.) If you find yourself a little “Garden Obsessed” too, I hope you find some content here on my channel to feed the beast!
Be well. Be kind. ❤️

Beautiful blooms! I’m only growing a few dahlias, but I’d recommend ‘Great Silence’. It was much earlier than my other dahlias and has so many blooms. Seems to be a popular variety in the UK at least.
Thank you so much! I just looked up Great Silence and it’s so beautiful! Totally up my color alley too! Thank you for the recommendation 🌱❤️
Excited to see the rest!!
Those arrangements are really lovely 😍
Thank you!! ❤️🌱
Great job prepping and getting things done 🙂
Thanks 😊
I’m so glad your dahlias are doing so well. Here in SoCal with 106 F temps mine are stunted and suffering. I did have some great blooms from Kelvin Floodlight. Arabian Night. Linda’s Baby. Bashful. Wizard of Oz. All before the heat wave hit. Not my best season. Shade cloth is my friend.
Oh no! I hope the weather cooperates for the rest of the season and they bounce back for you!! 🌱
Fantastic update Carla. Sounds like you've been having lots of fun. Congrats to your stepson winning bronze. For sure football can be hectic and busy. My 3 nephews were huge into football and my brother and sister in law were in constant motion with all that x 3, lol. Nice harvest and garden is looking lush 🙂The weeds are never done, lol. Have fun in NB (my neck of the woods, lol).
I’m loving the football! (Though struggling with all of the rules!) I don’t know how your brother and SIL managed 3!! I always love our time in NB ❤️ Jaret is from the St Stephen area, so we will play tourists and enjoy some time with his family!
Welcome back Carla. Love your veggie garden especially the peppers and tomatoes.
Aww thank you!! I’m hoping for mountains of peppers this year!! Last year with all the rain in June, they definitely under performed!
Good to see you Carla! Your veggies look amazing. I planted sooo late but things are booming with this heat. Stay cool!
If you’re gonna plant late, I think this is the year to do it!! Things are so advanced this year!
How about making a pond and planting water spinach... the pond can be filled with fish
I wouldn’t be allowed at the community garden, but possibly at home down the road!
The foil over the domes great idea!
Ty! 🌱
I love DE. lol Thanks for the update Carla.
I should buy stock in DE!! 😂 it’s all that’s getting me through the earwigs!!
What fertilizer are you using ?
@@yasmynechanel the Aerogarden brand as well as some cal-mag added. I pre mix and top up with the pre mixed solution. Happy Growing!
Great to know what to look for 👍
What size canner? I don’t know if I should get the 16 or 23 qt.
Mine is the 16 qt. I do wish I had a larger one but I also have a glass top stove and didn’t want to risk a heavier canner!
On my two days off this week I was away so this week I will plant. Later than I had hoped but earlier than last year. lol Thanks for sharing Carla!!
Same! I think it was mid July last year until I had everything in! Happy planting! 🌱
Great progress and hard work. Things are looking great 🙂
Thank you!! 🌱
Thanks for the update Carla
I wish they had community gardens like this where I live. Do you also grow stuff at home?
Yes absolutely! I have raised beds at home just over 500 square feet and a few in ground spaces at home as well. Check out some of my garden tours!
My water reservoir is white with Clear window, do i need to black out it?
Only if you develop an algae issue, otherwise I don’t think you would need to. Good luck! 🌱
@@gardenobsessed thank you!!
How wet did you keep the sponges at this stage?
@@fade2blak91 I just put them in the baskets as is. Stay fairly saturated as sponges are about half in and half out of water.
Though the greenstalk seen pricey if bought through a supplier in Canada you will find that by the time you pay shipping to have them shipped from Tennessee it works out to about the same price as the place I buy them here in Canada ships for free. Shipping from the USA is expensive.
Yes, I checked out both options for sure! Depending on sales and discounts, at times it may be cheaper to order direct from the US. When I got mine, it was cheaper to pay the higher price from the Canadian supplier once shipping was factored in. But I’m extremely happy with mine, very glad I splurged!! 🌱
Happy Carla Day!! Hope your special day was wonderful!! Picking flowers, dinner out, bingo and more family time, sounds like a recipe for a fantastic birthday weekend!!
I’m loving it! Thank you Michelle! ❤️🌱
Happiest of birthdays Carla!! It sounds like your family is celebrating you and that is how it should be. As far as my favorite flower. I couldn't pick a favorite if I had to. lol Love them all except gout weed that is the devil!
Bahaha yes, I’m blessed to not be cursed with goutweed!!
Happy birthday 🎂 Nice bouquet of flowers 💐Enjoy those lobster.
Thank you so much!! 🦞
Happy birthday to you!
Thank you Babe 😉😘
Happy Birthday! Lola looks a lot like my dog Max! I always enjoy your content over here in Ontario near Point Pelee which is Canada's most southern mainland. xo
Oh thank you so much!! Lola is half border collie and half lab but I think she looks more lab, is your Max a mix too? Thank you for watching and sticking with me! Much appreciated! 🌱❤️
@@gardenobsessed You are so welcome! :) Yep Max is also a mix, black lab and rotti but looks very much like a black lab. I used to care for a lady in her home that had a border collie and I fell in love with the dog. Super smart. xo
Aww adorable! Too smart for their own good sometimes eh?! I always said I’d never get a border collie, I grew up with Bernese Mtn dogs and golden retrievers… way more laid back! But here we’re are… and I wouldn’t trade her for anything! ❤️
I only use chemical fertilizers on my flowers. All veggies I use only organic fertilizers.
Thanks for sharing! 🌱
I love dandelion jelly!! My neighbor, makes it and sells it in the local market
This was my first time… soooo good!! Won’t be my last! I bet it’s a good seller for your neighbour!
Oh interesting that you’re only doing two for Tea. When you suggested sparse planting, I was thinking you meant one per pocket. This is my very first year although I’ve always guarded but this is my first year with GreenStalk.
Most I’ve seen are planting in all or half the pockets, so I figured 2 was a good experiment! I’ll definitely share results at the end of the season! Enjoy the GreenStalk! I just got mine last year but I have loved it so far! 🌱
Oh my goodness! The little tiny baby taters adorable. Can't wait for that update. Thanks Carla.
I know, they are so cute!!
I bought a hose from dollar store and water comes out white foamy and smells of javel. Scare to use it cause I feel water is toxic from hose
Oh wow, that would cause me concern too! This one didn’t do that. You could maybe try running it just on the lawn for a while to see if it clears out the hose. Good luck! 🌱
That was so simple. I'm going to have to try this and maybe give it out for Christmas presents. I always try to can or preserve one new thing a year and this is going to be one of them. Thank you for the inspiration.
Yay! That’s a great idea! I started giving out canned and homemade goods a few years ago at Christmas and this is likely going to make my Christmas gift list this year too!
Night time temps are starting to look half decent here too!! Exciting. Thanks for the update Carla!
Yay!!! Bring on the warm season stuff!!
Have you ever lost veggies in past years from planting too early?
Now babe… you know that I HAVE! 😘
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the watch! 😉🌱
Ok it is so pretty and can't wait to hear how it tasted!!
I tried it!!! It’s yummy!! I don’t know that it’s exactly like honey but it’s definitely honey adjacent! This won’t be my only batch this summer!
Hi Carla, when do you start tomatoes and peppers in the ground there in zone 5?
I started seeds indoors under lights mid March or so for peppers and early April for the tomatoes. I’m tempted to put the tomatoes out now, we are right around our last frost date, but there is a low of 3 overnight one night this week so… I will wait! Impatiently!! Likely next week I will start getting them out, but I will keep a close watch on the long range forecast, it’s not unheard of to get a June frost.
It has been so cold here I don't even have my beds cleaned up yet. Lazy or cold? hahahaha Next day off I swear. lol My garlic is only about 4 inches. The sun actually is out today so hopefully things will wake up and flourish. Thanks for the update Carla!
We’ve been having some amazing weather, stuff has really jumped ahead over the past few days!! Here’s hoping the sun and warmth finds you this week!! (Also… never lazy… just exercising restraint! 😂)
@@gardenobsessed temps look half decent next week! Woohooo.
🙏🏻🌱
Thanks Carla for sharing. I will look at your other videos for recipes etc.
Thank you! 🌱❤️
Judging by the crunchy sound, I can tell ya that your kiwi wasn’t ripe. They get way sweeter and better if you pick them ripe off the vine. 👍🏻
Thank you! Those were my first ones!
Went for my first time yesterday
I hope you found some good deals!!
Good prices wow
Yes, we are very lucky to have it nearby!!
I was in Truro Monday. Why didn't I go??!!! Darn. Great haul Carla.
Hahaha I know right?! It’s sooo worth it once in a while to stock up!
When I do plant sweet peas I plant them directly into the ground. I use a 2L pop bottle with the bottom cut off and minus the cork and place it pushed into the soil over the seeds like winter sowing. Thanks for the video Carla!
Ahh genius!! I’m for sure trying this next year!! Thanks Rose! 🌱❤️
I smelled sweet peas for the first time this year. It’s a b beautiful perfume 💗 your seedlings do look bomb! 💣 🌱 I grew the High Scent variety from Botanical Interests. I hadn’t thought about rooting cuttings 🤔 Great idea!
Oooh I love high scent! It’s one of the ones I’m growing this year too! Can confirm it will root in water! 😉😉🌱
What is the size of the shelf you use? Beautiful seedlings!
Thank you! The shelf is 4 ft wide to accommodate the 4 ft lights. It’s about 18” deep and I haven’t measured but believe it was 72” tall
Holy moly on the tomatoes! Yes on the gnat update please. lol I didn't get to plant until the 3rd week of June last year I am hoping for the 1st again this year. Thanks for the update Carla!
Think warm thoughts and maybe we get an early last frost!!
Would love to see and hear more regarding which dahlia tubers made it.
Noted! I’ve been doing better tracking this year about which varieties are early to eye up vs the slow ones and I plan to keep track of early bloomers etc too. It’s information I’m always looking for but it seems to be hard to find! I plan on lots of dahlia content!
Thanks for the update . Your plants are so healthy and well organized.I am impressed.
Thank you! Years of practice and lots of dead seedlings in their wake! 😉🌱
Great looking plants you have growing. All your hard work has paid off 🙂
Thank you so much! And thanks for the watch! 🌱
Your stuff looks so awesome! One day, I will get there! Things are yellowing and dropping leaves here… but not dead! That’s a plus!! 😂
Awww thank you! I have killed a LOT of plants in my day! Every season I see improvement! Don’t give up, you got this!! 🌱
