    Don't forget the current prices are the launch prices for a million+ people waiting list. Once demand starts to dry up at these prices and they figure out how to do some cost cutting they'll drop prices. My prediction of where prices will eventually settle is just under 50k for base (if they do one) 60-65k for duel motor and just under 80k for the tri motor. Might be 2 years or more till we get there though. They also might just make the tri motor better over time and keep the price high for a lot longer

    I LOVE the Cybertruck but I am one of the reservation holders opting out at those prices, we were offered an affordable utility vehicle, at that price point it is the ultimate luxury pick up, several police agencies pre-ordered ten or more to make them service vehicles, I think many of those reservations will be cancelled as well as it will inflate their budgets.

  • @SolvieCapital

    @SolvieCapital

    If you are an early reservation holder, buying the more expensive truck is a solid investment. You could drive it a year, and sell a year later at a premium, as there are millions waiting in line. If you are a later reservation holder, the price will come down over time. They are doing this instead of what the dealers do with trucks like F150 Raptor, selling double over sticker and getting it. This keeps our margins up, satisfies early reservation holders needs, and gets the volume to where the price can come down to mass market level. It is going to be ok, wait and see, or cancel your reservation so I can get a 2nd one sooner; that is fine too.@@czhusky

    Steel prices are up 50% from the original unveiling, this obviously along with inflation has a lot to do with the increase in pricing.

    The question you ask is will it be a success "hell yeah" you could ask anyone up in Canada and they would say for sure and then of course you'd have your doubters as well that's kind of a given across the world. I personally feel just as I did when cybertruck was first introduced in 2019. Sidenote 2019 was a difficult adjustment back in the day. Cybertruck inspired hope for the future. I can't wait for it to ramp up and take over the truck Industry up in Canada this is UIC studio 33 and I am Dominic Rafiel cheers.

    One more thing to include in predictions is that "Cybertrucks will be able to megacharge." The EVSE to support that nationwide isn't installed yet, but it has been invented. Once you hook up your 11,000 lb trailer, haul it for three hours and put all those miles back on the battery in 10 minutes, you'll never again (as Mike Roeth noted when positively evaluating Tesla Semi) fall into the trap of thinking about range as miles per charge.

  • @wm.perrykillam4243
    @wm.perrykillam42435 ай бұрын

    Because of the IRA, I think that US residents should think about the price of the Cybertruck as $7,500 less than the sticker price, and if you use it for your business, the tax deductions are very favorable. It's still more expensive than originally quoted at the unveiling, but .... not out of line with the truck competition even the ICE trucks.

  • @mrderek800
    @mrderek8005 ай бұрын

    Zach & Jessie are smart guys for sure & extremely knowledgable about anything Tesla. But I am getting the feeling that they are not looking at this objectively. Rather, from a biased point of view & almost with blinders on. Yes, the Tesla Cybertruck will probably edge out other EV pickups out on the market today. But there is no questions that this was a huge miss for Tesla & other auto manufacturers will reap the benefits of this with their electric pickup on the market or soon to be released pickup. Sure, there is competing EV pickup trucks on the market today that are similarly priced with similar specs. I am just getting a strong hunch that quite a Cybertruck reservations will drop off due to the price & underwhelming specs at the recent official launch of the production model. Also, does Jessie shave anymore?

  • @nerothe

    @nerothe

    5 ай бұрын

    Keep in mind that even at full CT production we are only talking about a fraction of the US truck market. All of the EV truck makers can make all they want and still sell them all. Supply is much more of a constraint than demand and the truck makers are really competing with themselves vs their competitors for the time being. Tesla literally doesn't care how many Lightnings or Rivians are sold. They aren't competition right now and neither could make enough to hurt Tesla's demand even if they are. This is emergent tech. For the next 2 years or so you will have to pay to play. It just is what it is. The people with money will buy them and everyone else will stand back and watch. Tesla will take advantage of that by making as much margin as they can while demand will support it. As production ramps and supply increases then prices will drop both from a cost of goods standpoint but also from a supply/demand standpoint. Eventually, I'm guessing we see a Tri-motor CT pushing that $80K threshold, but there is no point while the market will support higher prices.

    Always listen to Elon. What he says and what he avoids saying. Watching the interviews around the Cybertruck release, Elon stated with Munro that all it takes is 1 of 10,000 parts to dictate your production. If I recall correctly. So, Elon was quite candid in stating the the truck production will ramp very slowly. I believe it is evident that the truck is more expensive and more difficult to make than Tesla initially realized. But, as others have stated, these conditions will change with time as Tesla works every angle to make the truck easier and less expensive to produce. I just hope that by the time my order number comes up, the latter is true.

    A most enjoyable and informative episode, Zach and Jesse! Elon's boast some time back about knowing more than anyone else about automotive manufacturing technology was ridiculed by some 'know it all' channels is actually coming true. For example, 3-d manufacturing to increase manufacturing productivity, making more in less space seems to be a Tesla growing strength. We could see how the Cybertruck manufacturing process has different components being made at different floors of the factory and coming together smoothly at the ground floor. Using more and more humanoid robots in the manufacturing process will soon become very obvious. Critics of Elon and Tesla are almost all incapable of either doing better or have more experience in manufacturing in the very first place!

It's all as safe and safer than the old manual and hydraulic systems.. Flying , shooting and dodging bullets and missiles is a lot more dangerous than finding a parking spot at the mall.

    given the OBVIOUS inflation that has occurred since 2019, with everything higher in price today as a result, it seems ridiculous to think of this 'price increase' as a "bait and switch." Also the reality is that this truck has a lot of NEW technology that was not part of the "deal" back then that would otherwise cost WAY more than what was shown as a demo... anybody criticizing price is just looking to complain... Now you might complain about range... but price is a deal for what you are getting... they have to be losing money and looking to make it up with economies of scale

    I don't agree on the robo taxi thing. That is still just another form of public transportation and the number of people who will use public transportation is a known value and finite. The idea that drivers will stop using or "give up" their car to use some new form on public transportation is not plausible. People love being able to hop in their car at any time and go for a drive even if they haven't even decided where they are going and love the freedom to stop anytime they want anywhere they want. Pre scheduling a ride from one location to another is not the freedom car ownership offers. Can ownership also assures no others have been inside your car doing god knows what.

They need to strip it down, I don't care for rear steering or neumatic adaptive suspensión nor an automated gloves box or powered tail gate or frunk. I could stomach 60,000 for the dual motor. I have a Hilux 4X4 diesel and is my ideal size truck, Going bigger will be cumbersome but manageable. I need a 80% size basic Cybertruck, without the white bits in the cabin which will get dirty on day one of real world work. 😢

    We are not calling it a botched event because of the pricing or something, the cyber truck is fantastic, pricing it all! It was a botched event because it was so dark you couldn’t see (even on camera) and Elon didn’t take any notes and didn’t remember all the things to tell us about what was going on. He didn’t tell us about any of the technology, he didn’t tell us about any of the features. it was botched because he was so excited he didn’t pay attention to the fact that there was a whole bunch of information that we needed to know and we were expecting to know from him right then and we were very disappointed at the end of his speech (until the next day when we actually learned all the details)

Correction some do but some won't why. I gave up my gas vehicle back in December of 2022. Even with a union paid job that I once had. I could never afford a brand new ice vehicle. The cost of owning a used vehicle turned out to be more expensive in the last five years when I owned it. I can now buy a new EV and not lose value on it like the Ice cars do, in comparison. @@SoultimacysPublicationHouseEtc sadly so, the wealth gap has never been greater. The top 1.5% of U.S. adults control 48% of ALL our wealth&assets. 😑 The top 8% control over 2/3rds of it. Since the 1970s wages have not been indexed to inflation and worker productivity hrs. If it was? Minimum wage in the US would be $22-$25hr right now. And doing away with pensions&subbing in the 401ks with hidden fees and so many convoluted rules for contributions&withdrawals? Has imo driven workers to not save for retirement for the few who even could save.

    I think CyberTruck will be spun off as its own brand and later its separate company. It goes for the Optimus Bot as well. The idea is to not disrupt the financials of its mainstream Tesla Cars. That is the reason the Cyber truck has no Tesla logo....

    pretty sure beast will still be 99k by time my ticket comes up, so will be a happy mostly bunny with the twin motor. I have a '23 model S long range and now of course the plaid is same price I paid for my s 8 months ago! just doesn't sit well, but is what it is.... CT will be a hit and can't wait, for me the comfortable ride will be awesome compared to the harsh S, plus higher ride height. Hope it really does ride as well as my old range rover, will be a truly happy bunny. Yes, tesla bot and the very automated best practices assembly line. Jeff Lutz said a bit ago he believes it will be their highest margin vehicle...thanks guys ~ Roger

    When Elon made those predictions 2019 our dollar was worth more. Our government has diluted the value so $3.04 / gallon gas is now $4.09 or higher....Milk was $3.48 / gal and now $5.56...30 year Mortgage was 3.9 and now 7.25% Every commodity is higher priced relative to our weakened dollar.

    Why don't you blame the corporations who actually are the ones setting the price. The government doesn't set the prices of your shopping list corporations do. Its not as though you are buying foreign goods these are all good Ole usa company's that are skinning you for American goods made in America by Americans.

    FSD? At the moment its realistically behaving as a failed kickstarter project. The performance is nowhere near level 4 or 5. The technical challenge is one thing but once regulatory and government bodies chime in FSD will be in limbo for a very long time. Elons prediction of a Tesla driving autonomously from LA to NY will remain a pipe dream for a very long time. Look at the case study of Boeing's 737 max software debacle. Killed 346 people and cost the company billions. 346 souls lost is a tiny fraction compared with the number of safe air miles. FSD? Don't hold your breath.

    This Cybertruck coverage has shown me how delusional the Tesla fandom can be at times. I love my Tesla and will probably never buy another brand again, but the general public was unimpressed with the looks, specs, and features when Cybertruck was announced in 2019. Now they're going to line up to buy them now that many of those features have been removed, the specs are worse across the board, and it's significantly more expensive? It's priced like a luxury vehicle, a small market already, the AWD is the same price as a Model X, but it was purposely made non-luxury. I don't see any possibility that this overtakes the F-150, let alone takes significant market share without a huge leap in battery tech or some equally significant price cuts.

    These are launch prices as well. Once demand starts to dry up and they figure out how to do some cost cutting they'll drop prices. My prediction of where prices will settle eventually is just under 50k for base (if they do one) 60-65k for duel motor and just under 80k for the beast. Might be 2 years or more till we get there though. They might also just make the beast better over time and keep the price high.

    With Tesla’s plans to come out with a $20k - $25k, I wonder if Aptera is relevant anymore. Full disclosure I’m also an Aptera investor.

  • @amosbatto3051

    @amosbatto3051

    I´m guessing that Aptera will start shipping the end of next year and ramp to double shift full production in San Diego by the end of 2025 and then start opening factories in other locations in 2026, so Aptera will have a sizeable market by the time the Model 2 starts being shipped. It also has a market niche for people who want the most environmental car and don't want to spend money on charging, since most miles are powered by the sun. Also a lot of people want modularity and repairability, which the Model 2 won't offer. I think that there is plenty of room in the market for Aptera as EVs grow to the majority of the auto market in future, because not everyone will want Tesla, and many people will simply want something distinctive. The other thing to keep in mind is that Aptera will gain economies of scale that will allow it to cut prices just like Tesla is now doing with the Model 3/Y, so I think that it will be able to sell for a couple thousand dollars less than the Model 2. Aptera is a niche car as long as it is a 2 seater, but niche cars can still do well economically, and Aptera says it plans for a 4 seater with 4 wheels in the future, so I don't think the company will be focusing on the niche market forever.

You seriously think that arguments about not delivering what was promised, and that too by a shockingly 'not so little' difference after a 4 year delay, is somehow PETTY!?!? Do you understand how disappointed, frustrated and betrayed consumers who waited 4 f**king years feel?? And if you can't grasp how this sort of behavior from Tesla hurts consumer sentiment and ultimately the brand, may be you shouldn't be talking about Investing on your channel.
