So I hear the largest Hadron Collider is experiencing problems. Give them a call. Absolutely amazing skillset. I've never seen anyone say things like "I'll worry about that later" and then just do it (was in another video). I sit and think about it like it's a chess game but you just "ho-hum... what's next?" You did inspire me to build my own front winch bumper for my '06 Cummins. Came out very good IMO given it was my first try. Got many nice comments on it but man you make everything look so easy.

As a 1st gen cummins owner for many years, I've enjoyed the simplicity of that generation. Very rarely does something go wrong but when it does, it's usually something I can fix on the road. after watching your video and seeing how you were able to get your rig running, I'm not as scared of adding a later gen cummins to my collection one day. Great video!

Can't believe you hauled that truck on your trailer! I have the same one, and it was riding on the stops with an SBC-powered Suburban on it. Suspension? We don't need no steenking suspension! If your truck was a 12 valve, you probably could have poured the Rubbermaid tote full of crankcase oil/fuel right into your gas tank and made it home without a fill up. Props for figuring it out and making it back home.

Oddly enough, I have built the big block cummins over the years and the last one was in a little dozer with the twelve valve and so to convert a automotive to a equipment type ( i can't get my head to call out stuff right) I swapped heads and built injectors out of the two to make one, then swapping the pump is pretty straight forward but you have to use the timing case as well so the pump fits and then they time totally different as you know, all in all, it took me eight hours to swap all the stuff around and roll new bearings plus rings making one engine out of two. It hit after a few rolls to get the prim all around.... Oh, I was 68 at the time and working with a broken back. I'm 72 now but for me the big block is so much easier to do the work on. I like them and the 466 international engines for all around easy to work on.

If you would’ve noticed any bearing material in the oil filter your motor would’ve been shot. Injectors go to your piston directly the only way to the oil pan is through the piston. Not a bad job, for next time it’s usually the 5th or 6th injector that goes in the Cummins.

I’m an HD mechanic, this was very entertaining, you have a good attitude. Another way to check is to check for low exhaust plenum temperature with an infrared gun or the old hotrodders trick use a plastic water bottle with a little hole in the lid, shoot water on the plenums while running. Not sure if diesel EGTs run hot enough but the water sizzles on the good cylinders on gas jobbers.

  • @Cumminslife

That wouldn't work in this situation since all injectors where still firing normally as they should. Better way to find the issue would have been cap each injector off from the rail but I didn't have a cap with me. I considered pulling an injector line from the megacab, cutting it in half and welding it up to build my own cap but decided to just swap 1 by 1 instead.
