As far as Duramax 8.3 goes, I've actually heard they're increasing the motor size because of future emissions requirements. Same horsepower at increased engine displacement means less cylinder pressure & less NOx emissions. Is there any truth to this you think? I remember reading in the same forums motorcycle engines are doing this right now, for this reason

That's interesting thought about bringing down drive pressure. I wonder if it will be back in that 20lbs of boost again like the older engines

Glad you’re making videos again. When can I buy a colt welding hat?

If you need more than a 1 tone just get a CDL and a day cab and trailer. There’s no substitute for a tractor trailer and air brakes..

Great video, I wish they would build an industrial turbo hybrid for the Super duty line or any HD truck line. use the electric for high torque and regenerative braking on long hills the turbo for high altitude uses and have a large on-board generator. be good to eliminate the high cost of diesel ownership for a lot of customers.

I'd imagine your thinking of the F150 power boost platform on a super duty? I do see your ideas on this however, fact of the matter is they are too expensive to build. Even more so than the diesel.

Don't ask for more complication. I just want them to build something with a longer than 5 year life expectancy.

@@ColtWR yeah just a heavy version of the power boost. I figured they were a touch cheaper to build than the diesels

I think you’re asking more for the RAM Ramcharger. It’s essentially the Edison diesel electric model scaled down. Engine runs a generator only, no direct connection to the wheels. Where as the powerboost F-150’s are more like a conventional hybrid assist

they should! Specially now that they have to pay that debt!

Colt is dead right here. The fact of the matter is, there is no way these engines get bigger. In truth, they're going to get smaller. The emissions will kill these engines, especially in light duty trucks. I heard people talking about they're going to make them bigger so they can get more power will less NOx, but that's the exact opposite of what they're trying to do. NOx can be controlled with DEF, the issue is particulate matter (soot). Manufactures will just keep pouring DEF into the aftertreatment to control the NOx, but the soot is what's killing everything. Once the government steps in and begins to mandate some type of required warrant period for the DPF systems (like 10 years or something crazy), manufactures will be forced to run smaller engines even hotter in an effort to control the soot. I get people like to dream about bigger engines, but we just have to face reality. Our future, if we have one, is better injector technology, smaller hotter running engines, and start/stop to eliminate idling.

I hate everything you just said, but I fear you’re absolutely correct.
