Part 1
This craftsman blower was working just fine until it didn't start one day. On further inspection the ignition coil failed. This means the whole blower has to be taken apart to get to the coil. Thanks for watching and please check out my other repair videos.

    I've replaced a couple coils on those cheaper blowers...but anymore I usually tell people it's not worth the price of the coil & my labor. I did one for a coworker once & then next season the carb went bad. I replaced it with a $20 Chinese carb & he ended up spending more money than if he'd bought a new one. Great vid!

    I told myself not to buy the new 25cc Craftsman leaf blower and 2 years later here I am, Damn! Oh and my new Craftsman pressurewasher that I used one time is also broken after 1 year , it only starts with starting fluid then dies. I have an Echo edger and weed eater 22+ years old (replaced the fuellines once) no issues. All garage kept. No more crapsman its not worth fixing and 1 to 2 years later fixing it again! Thanks for the video and showing me that I don't care enough to care lol.

    There a test on the bench using an ohm meter that could prove it is good or failed as well. There are specs on the resistances of that coil that can be obtained and compared. A problem with the kill switch wiring could mean no spark such that replacing the coil wouldn't fix it.

    Before spinning the shaft to test for spark. Make sure the flywheel is locked down tight by using an extra spacer to reach the lock down nut. Otherwise the key can easily strip on the flywheel. A stripped key can also be the cause of no spark.

    May be just me, but I am finding out on my own leaf blowers made today are junk.Vs say a older Craftsman which I have and ran for many years no issue.In the past 6 months I have aquired 7 blowers.Most of these off pallet buys.Where still new in the box and returned due to dent, scuff etc.Polan, Craftsman.I find issue 1.These are hard to start.2.Bog down if throttle wide open fast.3.Stalls out when sitting.4.A big one, they get red hot fast and some bog and die.All 7 newish coils I doubt would just go out.7 newish carbs junk, I doubt.I still yet to figuar out why these things new out box have big issues.Just glad I did not pay $100 at a store for one.I just collect them at low fee to tinker with.About to toss them all and buy a Sthil. Newest addition is a new Craftsman.New as in, new.Does run, has the issue of idle to full throttle fast and just bog down.Throttle up slow and fine.Carb ajust?

  • @HomeGaragechannel

    @HomeGaragechannel

    5 жыл бұрын

    Joesph Baumgardner thanks for the comment. If you have Idle to wide open throttle issues then it's a carb issue. Either the diaphragm is somewhat stiff or more than likely it needs an adjustment. Carb adjustments can be really tricky. Are you an audiophile? It's like adjusting a 2 band equalizer.

    As to that Craftsman new blower... I suspected a ajust after looking inside carb.I see it was a double D ajust style.Got that and after some fine tune for sweet spot, runs fine now.Yes, I'm a audiophile.I also work on audio equipment/electronics.Matter of fact, last week brought a spectrum Kenwood eq to add to my collection.Like ajusting that, yes.
