Will It Run? $10 Craftsman Blower

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I picked up a Craftsman Blower off the market for only $10! Will it run or be a bust and go to the side of the road?

I just acquired this exact same Craftsman 25cc leaf blower for free from my neighbor who couldn't get it started. So. It looks like I will have some fun trying to get it running. BTW, back in the 1990s I bought a Paramont leaf blower/vacuum for $25 from Builders Square when they were liquidating. Some 30 years later & that same Paramont leaf blowrt/vacuum is still running great & I use it every weekend during the summer As they say, they don't make them like that any more. Nice video, & nice job troubleshooting the Craftman blower. It was educational for me. Cheers.

Glad I found your video. Same blower, wouldn't start. I disassembled down to taking the black cover off the block and looking into the exhaust at the cylinder head. Poured the older fuel out of the block and cleaned the carb twice and it ran. Thanks for showing me the rest of it disassembled cause I still think compression is the culprit.

GREAT VIDEO:. Right when I heard you say the wrong type of gas and it stopped working I said he put straight gas in it and burnt out the piston rings. Then once you pulled the starting cord so easily with one hand without holding the blower down it was obvious the piston rings were shot & melted. I'm guessing 20 psi at the most how easily you pulled the cord & it sounded weak. For $10 I would have bought as well. Just as a suggestion, you could keep a can of carburetter cleaner in your trunk for the next time you find a two-stroke, even a four stroke spray into the carburetter area and if it fires up right away its usually a carburetor issue and not a compression problem which then is a parts blower. It would cost more for the engine rebuild kit, then the entire unit brand new in my experiences. I enjoy the video. I'm always learning, no matter what the outcome keep moving forward. Take care..

Spark, fuel, combustion. Those are the things you start with and then diagnose further. Good luck!

Good job, liked your steel toed sandals, brave soul or not as clumsy as me. Did you use ring compressor when rings broke?

Sandals only when starting it, not while actually doing work. I did not use a ring compressor, not in the toolbox yet.

I got a sense of satisfaction from your fixing this blower with the used parts from the weed whackers. I hope you did too! BTW I love your bins on your peg board for holding small parts, screws and nails. I could use one of them - where did you get yours?

The bins are from harbor freight. Coupon gets them down to about $14. There is a video I made of unboxing these little guys

@@ASliceofWoodWorkshop Thanks Tim. I'm on the Insider Track Club at HF so I won't need a coupon to get the discount but I can add a 20% or even the rare 25% coupon discount to the sale price. I can't believe I didn't see these at HF. I'm going to look for your video later today.

Changing them should be almost the same way. As far as parts you would have to get a diagram of your bolens engine to determine which items you need.

If the gas didn’t kill it, the carbon in the exhaust port would. Good save, lucky you had the parts hoard.

@@ASliceofWoodWorkshop there are little locating pins in each ring land that hold the rings from spinning around and getting snagged in the exhaust port. It can be very fiddly putting the piston back in the cylinder with out breaking a ring. A fella has to have pats hoard, something my other half does not understand. She thinks my 3 big rolling tool chests should be out in the woods next door!

Use a paint can opener to grab the base of the plug cap...and it will pull right off. These are the worse blowers ever made. I have a new one that is almost impossible to start and it now has a broken pull cord.
