Coronation Street 3rd of December 1969.
Uncle Albert and Jack Walker are plastered at the start of this edition.Meanwhile almost all the Female folk are interested in Alan Howard.Elsie less than some of them strangely enough.Alan Browning who played him had been in stuff like The Avengers and Special Branch before joining the Street.Often playing Russians or other Foreign agents.

"Mrs Fenton's in there" "Oh well as she ever said owt that's important" 😂😂 brilliant stuff! Thanks as ever for sharing.
Thank you so much for these videos of Coronation Street. I had never seen the show before and now I can't stop watching!
Wonderful, thankyou so much. Needed a lift tonight ❤
Imagine Corrie today devoting the first copule of minutes to the drunken singing of two old guys? And Ken Barlow using the word 'gay' in it's original sense? This was 1969 but it would probably only be a few more years before that would have been unthinkable.
Another fantastic upload...in colour! Thanks. ☺
A brilliant programme back in the day!
I've said it before, but Ill say it again. Pat Phoenix looks amazing for her age! Thanks for these amazing uploads. Really appreciate all your work.
I suspect the audience of the time didn't really like Ray Langton being sarcastic and moody while being stuck in a wheelchair but it's probably a more realistic depiction of a situation than soaps of the time would have typically done. I read recently that one of Corrie's storyliners of the time, Harry Driver, was suddenly wheelchair bound at 25 (though in his case by polio rather than an accident) so it's likely he had major input into this plot thread. Reggie Marsh is obviously busy right now as all Dave Smith's actions happen off camera. Probably playing a Boss in a sitcom somewhere. 21:36 Betty Driver mistimes her entrance and has to pause for 5 seconds out of shot while Arthur Leslie gives her cue to rush in. I'm not buying Alan Howard as a universal object of female desire. All he's done so far is buy a few things at the shop and be oh-so-enigmatic while drinking whisky. Though, on a positive note he doesn't mince his words with the Ogdens, giving them the kind of tongue-lashing the Street's residents somehow almost always refrain from doing.
I remember Alan Browning in the excellent ATV series 'Thriller'. Another great episode from 69. Thanks Steve.

I haven't seen that.Would have been after leaving the Street. He was good in a Tara King Avengers and early Special Branch certainly.
As always, I can't wait for the next one.
🤣🤣🤣 Jack and Albert were hilarious at the start
Cheers, luv! X
😂'How about one for the street' says Albert to that bewildered woman - VERY risque for 1969 to say the least. Brilliant again, thanks so much.

She had no answer to that one. Probably because she was on a "non speaking performer" contract...
My God, 11 years before I was born!! I was born in 1980

1980 was a good year on Corrie. 😉 I was five years old when this episode aired, almost six. Seems another world now! 😀
Bill Roache of today (2024) is old enough to be Jack and Alberts father.
Thank you so much. Always appreciated!
Who turns the sound down and gives it the BUGGERNATION treatment?
