Loving these 72 episodes. Just barely remember them😊.

It's been good to see these episodes and I do appreciate you putting them up, but yes, I'll be glad to move on from dreary Emily and Ernest.

The actress Clare Sutcliffe who plays Vicki was in lots of TV & films in the 70's. I personally remember her for her role in one of my favourite films " I Start Counting " starring Jenny Agutter. Sadly she died in 2018 at the age of 75.

Judging by how this and the last episode was written, I suspect Corrie's producer was involved in intense negotiations with Gillian McCann to come back for a 3 week storyline. In the end, obviously, she said no. So here we see the thinly-veiled substitute character of Vicki Bright to take on the storyline the writers had done beforehand. From what I've read, McCann had given up acting and had moved to Spain. Still, she was probably in a better place than her erstwhile screen husband Nigel Humphreys who (going by his credits on IMDb) struggled to get TV work after being typecast as Dickie Fleming. Better times were ahead for Nigel soon enough, though. He got the role of PC Dodds on Softly Softly : Task Force. And spent the next 25 years typecast as coppers. Though at least there was work for him.

He was in at least one episode of The Professionals as well.In fairness though most able actors could claim that too in that era.

@@SteveHarris-nv9iy Humphreys was in an episode of "Paul Merton : The Series". Mind you, so was Cheryl Hall. And David Jackson. I think the casting director watched and remembered the same shows you're uploading here.

Clare was also in on the buses as stans girlfriend

I think Ernie was a Roger Whittaker fan, but Emily wasn't. She's never mentioned the beard before now. I think when she went to Ernie's old house she saw the LP box full of Mr. Bearded whistling man - explains why she flipped out when confronted with living there. As any woman will tell you - part of getting married to a man is making him conform to what you want. Ernie's a placid sort, so he'll go along with it.
