Thanks again, Dr.J. I've been doing planks on a slight incline, (instead of getting on my knees) my porch railing is just below my jeans, pants pocket, I'm 6' tall. If I set my feet just right, it's just almost like doing them on the floor. When I first started, I could hold on for 1-1/2 minutes, ... now, ( a month later) ""4"" minutes! I'm taking it slow, but I do these every day.. mostly in the morning after stretching, but sometimes I have to put it off until evening, but I do them everyday. *Along with my resistance band exercise and pushups and squats.. fun fact, my BP was averaging 170/98 before, (about 2 months ago). Just checked it today.. "114/78". 😁. I'm so stoked!! Just started working out in March! I'm going to ease into 'side-planks and stirring the pot '. Thanks again, Doc!! ✌️

I’m so glad that I found your channel! I have many years of knee and lower back problems. My lumbar 1-5 are totally messed up. I always feel very tight on my lower back and hard to keep my upright posture. I’ve been working on my foreword leaning posture and it’s been hard especially when I walk. I’ll feel out of breath. I use hiking sticks to aid my posture and they help a lot. I hesitate to take my orthopedic doctor’s suggestion on cortisone shot. I want to improve my core strength to be able to walk without walking sticks. Maybe you can give me some guidance. Thanks!!

Ok so if i change a little bit my position then i dont have to get up and move every 30 minutes? And is it better to use my phone standing up or its not that bad to use my phone sitting down and if i use my phone while standing i still need to move every 30 minutes right?

Why you say core instead of abs ?

  • @drjonsaunders

Mainly because I am referring to all of the deeper muscles that support the spine - "abs" imply only the ones you can see at the front of the trunk...best wishes!
