Directed and produced by Femke van Velzen and Ilse van Velzen, "Justice for Sale" follows the young, courageous Congolese human rights lawyer Claudine Tsongo who refuses to accept that justice is indeed 'For Sale' in her country Congo.
When Tsongo investigates the case of a soldier convicted of rape, she discovers that his trial was unfair and that he was convicted on the basis of little evidence. In her journey to obtain justice, she uncovers a system where the basic principles of law are ignored, and when the system fails, everyone becomes a victim.
This fascinating documentary not only provides a glimpse into the failings of the Congolese judicial system but also raises questions about the role of the international community and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in reforming it. Does their financial support cause justice to be for sale? And who pays the price?
The film includes riveting footage of the young soldier's shocking trial in an open-air, makeshift courtroom, and tells a story of a rape case in which the "perpetrator" has in fact become the victim of judicial errors. Please subscribe, share and comment.

This is so sad. Watching this from the UK and sending love and hope to this man and I am sure many more in his situation. Corruption is everywhere! Just the fact that you listened and believed him will mean the world to him. You are a precious woman. Thank you xx

My son he's disabled adult he's been in the system since 2014 he's easily influenced and got into trouble with drugs he stays clean for 2 yrs then runs into people who influence him, my son doesn't know if people are good or bad anyway long story short; he left the state and was high and due to his record they're sentencing him two 1-15 yrs in state prison. My son was clean a few years but then the drugs came pouring through the southern border, we unfortunately live close; the system is set up to fail, and there's better help if you are a state inmate. Anyway just wanted to tell everyone 😢 the system isn't fair. Personally I think they need inmates because they are building a new prison they get federal funds per inmate. My son has been locked up for 1 yr before he even went to trial, his probation officer pushed for this; they should have put my son in mental health court; I feel and the disability law center feels he been discriminated against. My son said he's thought about killing himself 2 people have since he's been in jail 😢. Please pray for my son to have courage; I bought him a Bible with pictures and he has a prayer group

@Donnell Okafor dear Christ?! You come on to KZread, see this comment. A poor woman pouring her heart out, probably having no where to turn. She's probably feeling helpless and alone. You then either ignore or don't bother to read her post properly. You make a tonne of unfounded assumptions. Then you're rude and cruel. Either you're just a grumpy unkind person, you're stupid, lazy and mean or your just down right cruel. Or your just a troll. None of which are a good look. I have no idea what's going on in your life to make you want to have a go at a perfectly innocent internet stranger. Or what in god's name has happened in your life to make you think anyone's remotely interested in your pathetic, badly thought through opinion. But here we are. In short, that was a real pussy move. It makes you look really really stupid, arrogant and again pathetic. I'd implore you to think twice before doing something like this again. But let's be honest, if you do read this, and all of it (that would be a great suprise) you won't care at all about anyone's feed back because I assume you think you're the second coming of Christ..... But seriously how much easier would it have been for you to just keep scrolling?! Mr Okafor, I sincerely hope you are a much better experience for the people you see in person than you are here. I hope karma got you for what you said to Stacey and I hope you didn't upset her too much. Have a nice life dick head.

I really appreciated what this lady (lawyer) did as said "courage is the most important attribute of a lawyer", It was an incredible investigation to help the poor soldier who was wrongly convicted. it does not matter who you are, rich or poor, bigger or smaller, high or low graded. every person deserves righteousness and fair justice especially in DR Congo. From Lubumbashi DR Congo.

What a difficult case to work out... as I watch and hear the case being re~examined, I feel that if she was raped or not, I get the felling she is still a victim. Because she is back living with her family for a "visit", makes it sound as though she is being ruled or instructed how to be. Hidden away... to keep someone from getting her side. She and the accused wife both look so young. I also though they both look afraid. As though they were being made to stick to a story, truth or lie, as it were... As for the future of your country, the Education of the children, rich or poor is the key. They are our future, no matter what country we are from. Even in my country the USA, at one time years ago it was innocent until proven guilty, but now days, with mass media it has reversed and more cases are being tried by the media and the actual trial is almost a joke.
