Doesn't excuse everything about how the situation was handled, but maybe we can now move on. I might even swing by to check out what they're up to every now and then.

    For a man who you don't have a great relationship with, you handled that interview with class and professionalism. I know many probably tuned in seeking drama, but I'm glad it was handled by you as a true professional. I know many probably didn't get the answers they were looking for, but I think most of the issues were addressed here in a fair and respectful well. @Mike Barnes I'm glad the guy had a chance to explain himself better and I'm okay with him dealing with Hind internally as it should in a workplace. Since the decision was 100% business-oriented I consider losing subs and views on such a scale is enough of a "vengeance" and I don't see the need to further insult the man publicly. He admitted his mistakes, now let's all move on. Let's support the personalities we feel were wronged by those decisions instead of lynching Marc Fernandez, it'll be a lot more productive.

And that's weird IMO since Marc always seemed to be pretty genuine and routinely talked about how disappointed he was in the sequels (I don't think I've ever been so angry about a movie as I was/am about Rise... Then the guy who built the thing that he just basically destroyed comes in calm and collected and helps him explain it in a way he hasn't been able to. Much respect to you John. Class act brother. I dont hate Marc, I hate his recent decisions, but he seems like a decent guy who made some bad business choices. It happens. I hope you can rebuild and bring back some of those shows in the future. But please get your boy Jack Hind in check. No matter how much effort he gives to the company you dont treat people like that. Extremely unprofessional, inconsiderate, and just wrong. He never had to say shit. Edit: I didnt yet see what you had to say on Jack. I can agree people deserve second chances. He still seems like a prick but I can respect the decision. The greatness of Movie Talk, for me, was the personality of the OGs John, Schnepp, Kristian, and Mark and the chemistry between them. Once the band started breaking up it lost the magic.

    John you're one of the best. I don't just mean You Tuber or show host, I mean one of the best human beings. Not many people would approach this as well as you have, with honesty and dignity not just for you but for Marc as well. Regarding Marc's comments on the community, I see this so often. Companies build up strong brands which people emotionally invest in, either as part of their identity (ie Marvel or DC) or community as is the case with a lot of You Tubers. That emotional investment is critical for success and can help you weather a lot of negativity but it can also be very brittle if it's underestimated and not treated with respect. The hardest part is when you lose that respect, it's gone. It's a trust based relationship, people emotionally invest and trust that investment will be respected.What happened here is a classic example of what happens when it isn't. He completely underestimated the emotional connection people had with Collider and the people. Sadly, I don't know if there's a way to recover, at least not with the same audience. But he doesn't need 'infrastructure' to tell him this, just pay attention and listen. Have a shred of empathy and think about the other side.

I am glad that John Campea was able to get type of video to come out because this is not your typical video but it covers a lot of good information when it comes to business technics vs artist and creating a community by the connections with the people.

    Sorry but my inner grammar nazi couldn’t resist, in regards to 33:45 - Exacerbate is frequently confused with exasperate... Exasperate is today most commonly used as a synonym of annoy, but for several hundred years it also had the meanings “to make more grievous” and “to make harsh or harsher.” Exacerbate is now the more common choice of these two words when one seeks to indicate that something is becoming increasingly bitter, violent, or unpleasant. It comes in part from the Latin word acer, meaning “sharp,” whereas exasperate is from asper, the Latin word for “rough.” Credit: Merriam-Webster

    This interview actually changed my mind about Marc. It was very telling, to see the respect he has for you John and to put himself out there for you to ask him anything you want about what went down regarding his business. Marc did a much better job with this interview and I am one to stand by Marc and say Thank You for facing the heat and for allowing John to grill you a bit about certain issues. I hope my comment finds my way to Marc and he knows that people want to give him and Collider a second chance as well.

    Winifred R Abbott I agree but business wise a community doesn’t matter. What matters is views, how long those videos can hold those views is yet to be seen.

  • @freddyfaerie3499

    @freddyfaerie3499

    @@DanielGarcia-co5iu I disagree yes views are important but big videos like "viral videos" can get lots of views but it's the regular watchers and subscribers are what keep things going day to day. Idk if you watch Philip DeFranco but he's done a good job explaining it in the past. The videos that blow up aren't what sustains a channel they're great for growth and bringing in new people but it's the consistent day to day that keeps people coming back. When you look at collider views those deep fake videos are massive but it's all the shows they got cancelled that are their steady view counts, the majority of everything new is very hit and miss.

    Winifred R Abbott we actually agree, for the long term you need a community. The problem is Marc didn’t understand what he had and how to cultivate it, the community was fading support and views were dwindling. The best business decision for him was to focus on what was getting views and making money.
