He 100% knew what was coming. Players of any sport are going to have predictable behaviors and high level players use that to their advantage. Typically pros will mix things up to prevent their opponent from having a knowledge advantage but if you can knock another player off their game their movements can become very predictable. The guy in red wasn't just being flashy he was trying to make the other dude angry which worked so he set up a shot that he knew the other guy would react a particular way to and it went according to plan.

kind of applies to Lord Beerus from Dragon Ball Super but he’s God of Destruction and he just woke up from a VERY VERY VERY long nap and heard that there was a strong warrior race that could entertain him so he ends up fighting Goku lmao. The first time they fight Goku powers up to his strongest form at the time (Super Saiyan 3 or SSJ3) and keep in mind this form literally takes so much of his energy to use that he’s the only one to canonically use it, seeing as he’s the strongest saiyan on Earth at the time (although Gotenks, a fusion between Goku and Vegeta’s kids Trunks and Goten, but fusions are VERY strong considering they’re 2 people in one so the two together can handle the form) and the form was barely used at all during the series. Beerus literally flicks him in the forehead and knocks him out😂
