Classic Game Room - WE BOUGHT A NEO-GEO part 3
Ойын-сауық
Part 3. It's fixed! (sort of) Classic Game Room buys a Neo-Geo and finally gets it working after our technically and mechanically talented friend, Luke Morse, fixes the NeoGeo MVS 4-Slot arcade machine board and mails it back to us in space! Hooray! The Neo-Geo works but still has a monitor problem (that I'm probably just going to have to live with for a while it seems). The issue with the 25" CRT monitor is that it shoots up over the top and sort-of folds over (technical term of course) so the Neo Geo loses about the top inch of gameplay...aside from that it seems to work well and plays four Neo Geo game cartridges nicely if they are well seated. Thank you again to Luke Morse for fixing the machine and repairing the 4 Slot board by replacing the RAM and fixing a trace and stuff.

Dunno if anyone has said yet. But if you open the machine by the coin slot theres a lever u can click and it thinks u inserted a coin. Also on the left of the pgb board there are toggle switches and one is for freeplay, can't remember which but there are 4 slot manuals online. More convenient

Mark's dad FTW!
There almost a infinite amount of people who could have repaired such a very very very simple failure of ram on that board stateside
Goooooooo Luke you are a fixing Machine
Luke morse is the man for technical knowledge of repairing consoles, the dudes videos have helped allot.
i love your channel dude it brings me back when i was a kid
So glad you got it working. Looks good hope the screen gets sorted.
Awesome show. Keep it up. I can't wait to see it at 100%
Luke is awesome and congratulations mark I wish you the best with your neogeo
Awesome! Happy to see such good progress!
Love your video's awesome as always.
hi mark, just wanted to say great channel and keep up the good work!
It´s working!! Congratulations. I like the passion you have for videogames. Most reviewers are video game haters
I KNEW this was going to Luke Morse!! Love that dude!
so happy luke and mark did something together, 2 of my fav youtubers
That humming from the speakers is the sound of those live animals plotting to explode from the machine! They just ordered some flamethrowers from your buddy in Japan, so check your boxes carefully!
Yay Luke!! The force is strong with this one....
Congratulations Mark! It's almost there! :)
I can't believe you did it awesome mark :D
Best description ever! I totally agree. I feel like freaking Merlin when I fix something that takes batteries!
I am still waiting for part 4 of this series!!!
I love your channel!
awesome! good job luke!
:D I love the sketchboard animation!
The one luke morse fixed. Awesomeness
luke is awesome, i love his channel
AWESOME :D Luke Morse is a great guy! His channel is ridiculously intersting, if anyone here hasn't seen his stuff you should :)
Congrats, that's great!
My favorite video game reviewer ! I hope one day he returns from Planet X .
You do know that Mr. Morris simply uses a flamethrower on the board and sends it back. It's magic!
The saga continues, you must sell the movie rights to this story! :P Good luck!
Good games you got there. I LOVE NEO GEO SNK fighting games!
you got a legendary piece of equipment rite there bro
HOLY SHIT SAMURAI SHOWDOWN! this reminds me of my youth! I got totally giddy when it worked!
Your dad helped you solder the battery on? lol...aww I just find that adorable Luke has mad skillz, and probably some alien technology.
The music is the Blue Danube. Nice 2001; A Space Odyssey reference!
Thankyou Luke! You're a legend :)
I'm just glad it didn't burn up in the upper atmosphere upon re-entry.
I love how he was standing back and only using one hand on the controlles like it was going to blow up
I don't know if anyone has said it yet but the monitor just need to be adjusted. That rollover should be just a pot adjustment. Also, some times the 4 slot are funny and will not see a cart and the easy fix is to just pull them out and resit them. Hope this helps and congrats on your first NEO GEO MVS, I have 2 myself. great system.
I love "World Heroes 2"! It's such a great fighting game to play, especially because it's almost like Street Fighter in every way! :D
Luke is a hero!
god damn i love this youtube collaboration thingie going on :D
Mark, Looks like you need a cap kit done on that monitor. That should fix it right up. If you've never done one yourself and you can barely use a screwdriver, then find someone out there that can re-cap it for you. Should be nominal cost.
This is far more compelling than anything else in the world.
Hope you can get that fixed up soon!
Whhoooaaa...! Lukemorse...! This is epic...!
When you said Japan, I knew it was Luke before you ever said his name. hahah!
And hurray to Luke Morse, very nice of you to help Mark!!! :D
Luke is a hero. Glad I sub him and Mark.
You're correct about the picture rolling. That's exactly what is happening. My TV repair knowledge is wicked rusty, however there should be a vertical shift that will move the screen down. Best get someone with at least some basic electronics knowledge to look for it to make the adjustment.
I don't know this Luke, but one thing I do know is that the force is strong with this one.
For the monitor you could ether replace it or it could just be a couple of wires cut off a little or just send it to Luke if possible and for the marquee just take the bulb out and put a battery power lightbulb in there for the humming I really don't know send a an animal like a raccoon or a squirrel. Anyway I watch everyday and you is what inspired me and my friend to make and arcade machine or cabinet by scratch hope I get to play some cool classic games with you in the classic game room
How wonderful.
I love you guys :D. Dreamcast could be a little bit louder and nobody would kick this machine ;) but as we now... Dreamcast rules! Cheers!
Luke is the man!
you are awsome:-) classic game room FTW:-)
I fucking lost it when he said "winners don't use drugs!" lmao
not completely worthless, pretty rad videos =D
My favorite moment, "After my Dad helped me sadder on a new battery. . ." I feel you, I feel you.
Glad it's working at least. In sure some nice youtubers here have already suggested the new problem and someone can fix it.
That shirt is AWESOME.
The Neo Geo i used to play on had fatal fury special, samurai showdown, Neo Geo League Bowling and metal slug. I miss it.
awesome. can't wait to see what happen.. wait a minute
"WINNERS DON'T USE DRUGS!" *clap* "YES!!!" best part of the video
Luke Morse is a really awesome dude!
I say Luke deserves to be in the running for the Nobel Peace Prize!
Haha you are not useless, you make me smile! :)
Space mail, the best kind of mail!
I remember playing Frogger on a Frogger machine and one of the circuits was bust, so it displayed Frogger one row further than where he actually was! Bugged the crap out of me to say the least.
The Intergalactic domination of Classic Game Room Is Now Complete with a Neo Geo and The Space Dominator Sega Genesis. Bow Down to CGR!
As mentioned by others, it could require capacitor replacement on the monitor board (cap kit) or the vertical adjustment needs some fine tuning. Find the small potentiometer knobs on the monitor or the remote board and get to work.
To fix the top vertical overfold you need to tweak the vertical size setting first. There's probably a remote board close to the monitor if you open the control panel. Then you have to replace the capacitors, which is called a cap kit. That's because the capators value change over time and can generate many issues, like overfolds for instance. Cap kit, look it up.
I have a NEO GEO 4 Slot machine, myself. The voltage coming from the power supply usually needs to be exactly +5 volts... NEO GEOs in particular can be finicky about getting any variation from five volts. Check your power supply with a multimeter to see what your current voltage is and adjust the voltage pot/knob.
These monitors usually have little white twisty button things inside the cab, you move them clockwise and anticlockwise to affect the monitor image size and the volume. That is my high tech advice for you (if they are there it should just be a matter of having a little fiddle!).
"My lack of common sense is surprising to even me." LMAO!
Almost there! Be sure to get Metal Slug and Sengoku 3!
And this is even more proof that Luke can fix anything.
As for what lukemorse1 mention mark make sure you clean the cartridges contacts, they can get very dirty.Use q-tips and some electronics cleaner and even a eraser works as well to.
i love your song intro theme
He should have poured beer on it......
We told you so, Mark. Luke can fix everything.
i hope it gets to 100% working condition, maybe its just dust or something...good luck!!
Luke Morse is a good influence eventhough I killed one of my PS2's after taking some advice from one of his vids (not mad), this reminds me of the projects that I need to complete, again, not a bad thing.
You can also set your NEO GEO up for Free Play via the series of dipswitches on, I believe, the lefthand side of the board. Check a manual for which dipswitch needs flipped for your particular MVS board.
Luke is a god!
I don't think the pouring beer on it method was too bad :) But I reckon Luke Morse was probably the safer bet.
Mark, your humor is amazing, i jusr keep laughing so much... jesus christ! haha
OMG Ninja Showdown is also for pc i played a long time ago.awesome game
Mark, You'd be surprised to find that BYOAC.org forums has a ton of great information about monitors, arcade pcbs, controls, wiring and more. The forum members are fairly warm people, as much as people on the internet can be. Give them a shot. Also, it looks like your "v-sync pot" may need some tweaking.
I've had the same thing happen to one of my TVs ( the top rolled over and started going down ). I couldn't find a fix, and eventually got rid of it. Hope you have better luck.
Those funky lines on the top of the screen, could be the monitor is about to shit the bed. One of my old TV's has a similar issue.
you should take on the undertow hosts in a neo geo/ cgr arcade competition to celebrate the Olympics as soon as you get the neo geo up and running!
The monitor could be going bad or it could be a really easy fix. There should be hardware knobs that adjust the horizontal and vertical screen position. It looks like the screen is folding over because the vertical setting is too high. If the monitor is going bad, changing these settings might not be enough.
I've got a single slot system and gotta get a 4 slot for the Video Game Rescue arcade in town.
You're probably right, but there might be a vertical size pot that can be tweaked before going through the trouble of replacing all the caps.
Mark, 4 slots tend to be finicky with cartridge order, especially with new carts. So yeah, it's normal. Keep trying until you find a working combination.
there is no problem that luke cant fix because he do it in the mix ;)
Looks like the problem is with machines gizmotron. To fix it you will need passive ray phase driver. With that switch the ultrascan port diodes 1 and 2 from "optical array matrix" into "multi feed pulse" -stages. If that does not work, you might need to install beer holder into the machine.
luke morse fixed it? awesomeee
