Good work Pete, keep it up mate👍👍
Loving the progress on Bramble. Keep it coming Pete
Well what can u say but a true master at work well done mate
Nice job Pete , loved it and very rewarding when you dropped the bulkhead into place ; "like a glove!" Old car memories photos were a good addition to the episode . Back about 1980-81(l'd be 18 or 19) the second car l owned was a 2 litre mark 3 GXL in Copper Brown metallic (UCH700L) . Remember binning the cambelt cover and fitting a chrome rocker box . Later came chrome "8 spoke" wheels with 185/70 tyres (I think) . The wheels (badged 100+) were a big mistake , l really wanted some wolfrace slot mags but the "impatience of youth" resulted in me choosing the cheaper option . They tarnished within 6 weeks , then rust formed between the face of the wheel and the rim due to a nasty seam there . Happy days !
Great job mate one thing for sure you got patience .
Bramble is looking great, moving along really quickly, brilliant save, well done.

Stuck at home with a stinking cold, but saw a new Project Bramble video uploaded and it made my day! Wish my Dad had never sold his banana yellow Mk3 with black vinyl roof (and black vinyl seats that would become scorching on a really hot Summer day). Can't remember the full reg, but it started with JKR so the car was known as The Joker.

JKR great reg. Chris, sorry you got that cold I had it damn nearly 6 weeks, its just gone. damn thing would not shift. one fever then 2 weeks later another fever then bunged up, worst cold ive known, all i can say is lemsip or equivilant, paracetemol, etc, you just got to ride it out. theres more films in the back catalogue if you bored, just scroll thru !!!! just hit 10ks subs so im happy!! get well soon Chris and thanks, from Pete.
ABSO Brill Pete!!!!!
Love the photos down memory lane, I know I have similar somewhere in the attic! My mate Chris Hefford had the same passion for the early MK3's with the slopping dash so it's really exciting learning much more about the assembly, I knew a fair bit already but resorting a bulkhead! Well I'd of not felt capable, I can still remember the number plate of Hefford's White 2 litre Mk3 GT EBC153L
Fantastic Pete , really cracking on with the metal work now arnt you! , was looking through pics of my old cars the other day and thinking , god if I'd have kept that ...... ah well lol

Pete C Thanks that’s very kind of you ,I want to say yes and I’d be definitely paying you for it, I don’t expect anything for nothing. But unfortunately for me I don’t have anywhere to put it at the moment. What I should have said was ‘that I’m very envious of your garage lol anything I want to get on and do to my cars has to be done outside . My house is full of tools and car parts and the missus keeps threatening to do something about it. one of these days I might be lucky enough to move to a house with a garage. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Pete, congrats on the progress, it's looking more solid in every video. The Bramble series is the first chunk of videos I've watched from you, I love restorations and I love Cortinas. Never had one myself (my Mum, my Dad and brother all has several, but the Sierra was truly established by the time I turned 17, and have never been too keen on them). Escorts was my car of choice, several MKIIIs, several MKIVs and a MKV. Now, (almost) continuing the tradition, I drive a Focus MKII and love the way it feels just like an Escort! One day I *will* have a Cortina (a promise I've made myself) =) Anyway, enough rambling! Keep up the great work and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

Just found your series of rebuilding the Cortina. Brilliant work Pete. Can I suggest that you invest in a jigsaw to cut sheet metal instead of using a disc grinder or snips. Much easier and cleaner.
Looking good bro and a walk down memory lane nice one. All the best from a 30c+ NZ, not even midday and I am sweating just typing this.

Keep going Pete C.
More good progress! I’d imagine that’s the most intricate area to work on, easier as you get further back on the shell.
God you were giving those molecules some serious reshaping on that first end piece Pete. But that bulkhead went in really sweet. Nice job. See attention to detail works every time. That Mk I Transit reminded me of our last bandwagon - a long wheelbase high roof bought new with an Essex V6 conversion in a diesel front, ambulance diff, side door and mandatory aircraft seats ('acquired' from a man one night in Heathrow). All the gear behind a chipboard panel in the back. If we had shunted it the speaker stacks would have shot forward and killed us ... Transit and Capri Mk I axles of course being called 'Atlas' when in a rally Escort. Fun Fact No 3 - the rear quarter bumpers on those Mk I Escort vans were used as the front quarter bumpers on the Twin Cams and RS1600s. Mk II Escorts used the same off Mk II vans

Hello Pete, really nice work. I had a Mk3 Cortina 1.6L in tawny brown for my 17th birthday in October 1974. XWG 836K Which was bought new by BOCM. I was the second owner. I have some photo's of it somewhere. Then in 1978 when i was 21 i got a Mk3 2000E in orange with a vinyl roof. HWR 330N. I had a scrapyard from the early to mid eighties and i must have scrapped at least 20 Mk 3 Cortinas. I remember getting a 1970/71 Mk3 2000GT in Daytona yellow and i put it in the corner of the yard as i wanted to save it. The car was a local reg JEO 999J and i think someone came in wanting some bits and it ended up getting scrapped. Wish i had some hindsight to keep some of the cars i had. Lots of Mk1 escorts got scrapped as well. I guess that's life. Cheers. Billy.

wow scrapyard memories, nothing better, any pics of the old days??? sounds like you love your mk3s, i didnt think i would see many replies on here, but all of sudden everyones comin on board with the mk3 stories, i suppose there wer ethat many made that im going to hear from a lot of people if they can jsut somehow find the channel ....anyway thanks for your stories, the range 2000e is the one i like sound of, i wonder if anyone on here actually finds out thier car is still on the road, that would be so cool, all the best pete
Buy yourself an electric nibbling tool, you will save a shit load of time. There is also a nibble attachment for a power drill available which is cheaper. Liking your vid not for the theatrical shite, but for your dedication to a massive restoration! All the best.

hi pete car looking good.
Hey Pete! yet again another fascinating episode, the way you made those new panels was awesome, great panel beating skills, looking at the pics took me back to my Cortina years, I think that by the late 80's I had gone through about 5 cortinas and was on to my Mk5 2.3Ghia, would have been in my late 20's then, looking forward to the next instalment. John (Norfolk) PS. you can give me a shout out in your vids if you want, as an ex Cortina fan.

Thanks for the mention Pete! yeah loved all my Cortina's (Seria's were garbage) had a few nice Volvo's but my last car was a Mondeo ST which I liked, now driving a Merc SLK which is very nice but would give it up for a nice Mk3! John (Norfolk)
Lovin' the latest series of videos Pete, you really are making progress! Thanks again for all the effort you put in. PS, how is the estate these days? For some reason I'm hoping for a video of it, sat ticking over, covered in snow and ice...……… just looking tough :)
Well done to you Sir, just started watching your videos. Left school in 83, I past my test in 85, my mates dad had a garage and bit of a scrap yard for old cars. My first car was a MK3 Gxl Cortina. I drove it all the way back from some village in Kent with no tax or insurance naughty boy I was back then. I wish I could remember the reg , question to you is, can I found out what cars I've owned? Wish I still had it. Great videos
new :) back in the day i had the estate a German import 14 foot long and 4inch wider than the UK version LHD its possible to fit 14 people in it only a short run but she did well.
Talking of seeing bands in Lancashire, I wonder how many people remember the Electric Theatre in Manchester? I saw The Enid at Reading festival then again a couple of months later at the Electric Theatre, with a friend from Eccles. Must have been 1976 or 1977. It's a long time ago now but I still have their album In The Region of the Summer Stars, on vinyl of course.
Seeing how you use a hammer, I'm sure they'd hire you as an X-Man. Impressive !

Hello peter it's expressed panels here, our pressing machines have just broken down, can you please make us a batch of them lovely handcrafted bulkhead pieces!!
hey Pete, havent watched this episode yet, have you thought about putting a camera in the new garage maybe T pieced to your DVR and enabling live on youtube. im watching a News Stringer in LA and he goes live for about 4hrs a few days a week and makes enough money to feed the family, just a thought another option and more vids for fans to watch. When the live ends it is stored as normal so more people can watch with ads etc after :)
Pete I bet you've got an arm like Popeyes all that hammer forming result.I think a air phlanishing hammer would help eBay £100,great video.
great vid pete (socks aren't vegetables they should be wiped out)
Hya Pete, love the videos! What is your time scale for bramble?
You mention that your donor car is cut up in the ruby video's, which one in particular is it ?
Great vid pete, wheres the cats?
Great work, excellent video, I am waiting on every new video with anticipation. And memory lane, back in the day,....I don't want to call them the old days, cause I am similar age, haha....I'm gonna do some videos starting soon on something, a 1999 Chevrolet Trailblazer 4x4, a fairly decent body,...errrrr, I am hoping, haha, errrr, one never knows sometimes till they discover the rust holes,...ha, well, it appears to be pretty decent, but engine is "bad", ....spun rod bearing, and transmission could do with a refurbishment while engine is out of engine bay,..meaning a beefing up of automatic transmision, and likely I will go with a used engine or a complete rebuild,...unfortunately, the engine injection is not the best type to have,....gonna build a large metal building/shed I own that needs assembled, and make it into a small workshiop big enough to bring a small vehicle into if needed......I am formerly trained as a auto mechanic, and industrial sciences,...well, I ended up with a so called two year degree in such, had numerous automotive repair certificates, formerly trained in the military too for mechanics and electrical and light electronics repair,..so I feel confident.....I'd like to do what you are doing all the time, doing sheetmetal rebuilding work,...that is great work you are doing, I am learning alot,...I think I might try to get ahold of a 1978 Datsun pickup with auto trans this year if things go good for me, to restore it,...errrr, if luck goes my way.

Errrr, I am 'happy" to proclaim that I discovered through thorough inspection yesterday that my personal project vehicle, the aforementioned chevrolet 4x4, it has "glorious" rust damage where the battery once was placed,....completely rusted out battery tray, looks like damaged below it(rusty hole), and slight damage to the radiator support front bulkhead!......good thing I own some welders, already had a replacement battery tray delivered, I mean, having, I mean, owning welders is like having good insurance, haha, I know I can fix the problems.
This will put you up to four Cortinas not counting the wagon. How do you manage the space? I know I'm probably asking a silly question, but how many cars before you achieve "maximum Cortina"?
mmm vintage mags always nice to look though and see what was up n comming what we now know to be shit but rare as hell and going for good money even as a basket case or worce then bramble is, the old adverts including the one for metro for plastic padding aka filler but showing what it was meant for not sealing up the sills wheel arches and other places, and then the cars mmm seeing them and now looking at them and knowing full well yes its nice but oh gods did they rust in that place bad,
Your anvil looks like a breaker bit for a old jackhammer bud
Will you keep restoring mk3 Cortina's till you die?
It's odd to think that if the farmers wife had loved it and kept it on the road the car would by now almost certainly have ended in some scrapyard crusher and be long gone. Yet because she didn't like it and dumped it to lie and rot in the brambles the car is not only still alive, but will shine on into the 21st century. Hmmm...., strange how things work out.
might be some good tv watching, lazy boy garage they had a mk4 cortina or the trainous the cortina but sold in other country's had a guy on who had the mk3 later verson and it was ugh, capri wheels in white, after market stearing wheel, and the rear parcel shelf had speakers in, the only good thing was the colour and the fact it was a mk3, the boys mk4 was nice but they got the info wrong the girls says it was the most popuar car in the uk in 1970 when the mk3 came out they had the mk4 which came out in 78 to 83' before the lovely serria replaced it,
you buying a cow? is that why you have cowdfunding link? 😁😁You operated coin op games in the 80's? i did too, even had a few of those Taito grandprix driving games .
What color is project Bramble going to.be, at first it*s one color but under further investigation turns out to be another color.
First again!!
Hello Pete, you need next exciting trip, you should go to south africa and get yourself a MK3 cortina pick up. Check it out www.carcavescotland.co.uk/classic-cars-stock/ford-cortina-mk3-pickup Cheers. Billy.
