Clashes in Georgia as it Presses Forward with Controversial Law | Vantage with Palki Sharma
Georgian lawmakers gave a first green light to a controversial "foreign influence" law that has sparked mass street protests across the country. Georgia's ruling party is pushing ahead with it but there are concerns that the bill would undermine Tbilisi's European aspirations. If adopted, the bill would require any independent NGO and media organisation receiving receives more than 20 percent of funding from abroad to register as an "organisation pursuing the interests of a foreign power." The bill has been criticised as mirroring a repressive Russian law on "foreign agents" used there to silence dissent. So why is Georgia's ruling party still going ahead with it? Do other countries have such laws? Palki Sharma tells you.

This law needs to be in every democracy to know who is funding them by that we can even stop money coming for terrorism or any other anti-national activities. Even in India many organization along with opposition party promote pseudo secularism and even organize useless protests for even good projects which can help people and nation to grow

Great Report on the Foreign supporters to political parties in Georgia. Globally from the report it clearly shows major nations like India the US Russia Hungary etc upholds transparency with registrations of foreign support to political parties. The ruling party in Georgia wants to uphold good electoral standards which is beneficial to all. Keep up the good work at Vantage.

Not Opposition boycotting this law, Georgian People protest it because it’s about controlling art and science and every free action for Georgian people. This law is differences from other countries laws. We are in different position. 20% of Georgia is occupied by Russia and we need more attention. In this law there isn’t mentioned which outside source could be “Enemy” and many details are making this law unclear and suspect full

They don't want this law because 80% of Georgians at last independent poll know that like any law it can be miss used by soviet elements in the political establishment of there society to target those that support joining the Eu. And dont tell me about similar laws in the usa that were put in place to stop dictatorships like russia and china who throughout there entire history have never had democracy. From setting up communist cells, in so called funded friendship centers in university s across the west to steal technology information or anything else of value. The dictators of these countries have no morals or humanity and use the decency and laws of civilized countries against them while not abiding by any of them 😂

The problem is that the these NGOs fund are to push the population to follow the foreign agenda such as no close tie with Russia and do what US and EU wants regardless your interest. Generally they fund opposition party and anyone group that oppose to governments they do not like. now if the bill passed people involved in such activity will not be able to carry out those evils projects. They can no longer do regime change. So the protesters are either ignorant or foreign agents. the bill will reduce Russia influence why claiming that it will help Russia. The answer is because the West said Russia is bad so it is always Russia fault.

RSS and BJP have crossed all limits for the humanity and rights of Muslims and they believe in their freedom. Even when Babri Masjid was demolished 30 years ago with the support of RSS, Congress was the Prime Minister. That truth was forcefully exposed before the people. Then RSS got scared and Israel supported RSS, then prepared EVMs for our country's elections and RSS captured India. South India also recognised that reality. Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka. May God help us soon Mahatma Gandhi, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were also murdered under the same thinking. Gujarat riot case haired judge where? who kill him, who support the riot at the time of ruling Gujarat, We are public fool. The opposition is funded by EU and US to prevent any good relationship with Russia. So if the law is passed it will be transparent and everyone will see that all those riots are organized by foreign agents. And they cannot longer influence the public through corrupted politicians. For example the US and EU need NGO to prevent any government getting closer to Russia. and this law will pose a problem since the ruling class can just kick them out if they are unfriendly. That is why the EU and US called it controversial because it prevent them from doing soft regime change at will.
