The Russians have adopted this law from the US legislative, it is almost exactly the same…. People being manipulated as always!

Yeah, no. FARA (US law) Requires organizations or persons to register as foreign agents if they are managed or aligned with foreign government organizations, not based on any income or funding. Georgian version of this law will require any organization or person receiving 20% or more income from foreign countries to be labeled as agents. see the difference? I am a freelance artist, under this law I would be labeled as a foreign agent also and this gives the ruling party the ability to discredit anyone they choose basically.

Same law exists in USA but in USA the dont use this law to imprison your whole family, friends of your family and your cat. In Russia you get abused by this law

@@3DBullet What's the purpose of this bill? To counter Russian influence? or US and EU influence?

  • @3DBullet

@Wilson24678 They say the purpose of this bill is to counter all of foreign influence, but given that the current government has shown favortism to russian companies, giving them grants and turning a blind eye when doing something illegal, no one can count on fair treatment for all companies and they will most likely use this law just to discredit the narrative they don't like. Also, foreign income is already reported to the Georgia Revenue Service. The only thing this law does is make the companies publicly register as foreign agents, or else be fined or closed down. The only thing this law accomplishes is to discredit people and media.

Given the fact that parts of Georgian territory is currently occupied by a foreign government And that foreign government most certainly has interests contrary to Georgian independence and E.U. and possible NATO membership This bill appears to be a necessary step. Despite local opposition.

He`s throwing dust into the eyes of the Georgian people. The absolute majority of NGO`s are financed either from the USA or EU. They know full well who stand behind those NGOs and whether they pose a threat to the country`s national interests or not. The Special Services will obtain any kind of information any time they want about those NGOs if they want. They simply want to adopt this law to influence the political process and remain in power.

Based on the threshold suggested that means if they recieve ....19% per individual then they woudnt have to report.....now if they dropped it to a % like 10% or 7% thereby maing it not even worth it be one that might have a better effect

Anyone would think that there is a global agreement on most things. Nearly everyone “had to” go to war in 1940’s Nearly everyone “had to” build concrete cheap housing high rises straight after the war. Nearly everyone “had to” have soaring inflation in the seventies. Nearly everyone “had to” have a disease lockdown. Nearly everyone “had to” join Russia and China or EU and US. Nearly everyone “had to” March for Palestine. Nearly everyone “had to” have open borders. Nearly everyone “had to” have elections this year…..

Europe was the choice of Ukrainian people as well and we all know how Russia took that so I hope Georgians get to live in peace for a long time since 2008 without Russian interference despite not being Russian puppets. As for freedom of the press I do agree its better if the government doesn't control the media because else you could theoretically get the Russian media style that can brainwash its populace especially the less tech-savvy portion of it with any nonsense they like.

The EU is no different. Is France Germany Italy Spain the UK Beligium etc “free”. Is there really not a EU WEF controlled narrative ? Is the EU really “freedom of press” mo protests utopia, with its crazy house prices, growing homeless, immigration issues, asylum camps, religious extremism, uncontrollable inflation, farmers disputes….

The law must succeed! Foreign (ruzzian) money cannot be allowed to steer public opinion without the people's notice! Pass the law and force the NGOs to reveal their allegiances!
