Great economy, what do we use it for? 1) Retarded incompetence at capturing Seoul, which could provide crucial advantage 2) Being quite capable of taking Utrecht and honestly maybe even more... and retreating fleets 3) Having frigates when Byz was stuck on ancient ships... and even attacking them... and again retreating with such advantage... 4) Byzantium, the clear imminent hegemon, has its all armies in opposite part of the map, occupied with somebody else? Strategic crucial south island is ready to attack? Nah, let's lose all our manpower on Dutch and be left as the only remaining opponent of now like 2x stronger Byzantium! Not only they failed to do anything properly, maybe if not their attacks on Netherlands the Dutch would be capable of killing Byz. Netherlands: That killsteal of Spain straight from Byz hands was great move... But they were less focused than Byz and had bad luck with Portugal. Byzantium: Excellent performance the entire time, just proffesional competence. Korea: can anybody explain to me how the hell they could fuck up their basic pop growth so badly? Exact same starting conditions as Byz and by turn 100 Byz has 24 pop and Korea 4? Perfect set of uniques to win this map, and they couldn't even properly get out of an ancient age... on a map without barbarians or early invasions. Tl;dr Byzantium was a proffesional, Portugal was drunk, Netherlands were not good enough, Korea was mentally handicapped and Spain just didn't care.

Dromons protect Byz like Royal Navy protect the UK. I actually thought Byz was falling behind when they stopped with Varna and their tech isnt that far ahead either, but then global politics kick in.

+Rovsea Dromon. And yeah, Byzantium is perhaps the most dangerous opponent in the entire game if you've got a lot of coastal cities in the early game. It's an advantage that is quickly lost, but if you get to properly utilize it, it will probably win you the game. The good news against Byzantium is that the window of opportunity they have for using the ship is quite small. Also, to be fair, the AI is always retarded.

Ah yes, the "5 warriors before anything else" build order by Korea, truly a classic.

Spain: Currently the winner of most mediocre player of Civ BR for 28 games in a row Portugal: Focus on taking on the growing threat of the Byzantine Empire? Nah, lets fuck up the dutch! Netherlands: If we dont move, maybe they wont notice us. Dont worry, those citadels are probably being placed out of friendship. Byzantine: Popping out 5 cities from the start, and stealing your opponents island wins you the game. Who would have thunk?

Ah comon, the dutch AI finally did something, i was so proud of them! they never seem to do much in other battles. surviving for as long as they did in madrid was pretty great though.

For a moment I was scared Portugal can actually do something competent

Korean AI couldn't decide between tall and wide development, so it just combined worst traits of both without their advantages

As soon as the great wall went up I couldn't see Byzantium loosing a defensive war and they pretty much won by a landslide.

I once got a 61 pop city (Constantinople) as Byzantium. Brings back memories, even though I couldn't get a cultural victory in that game.

Can you do mass effect mod AI only? Excluding reaper civ so only 18 civs, or make 3 groups of 6 for other civs and reaper alone

Yeah but use the Tojo mod so Oda isn't stuck with the Zero and gets a dojo instead.

Constantinople literally had the game won from 1 minute in and then spent the whole rest of the game trying to throw. They almost managed to lose.

Can we have a moment to be thankful we don't live in Busan? That poor city saw more wars and armies pass through its streets than any real world cities.

So happy you stopped having England on these water-based maps, it makes for much more exciting content
