    Good comments on the stack power limitation of 4. You mentioned stacking up to 9 switches and while older stacking arrangements usually had a limit of 9, this model is limited to a total of 8. Thanks for sharing.

    No problem. You can stack any flavor of the Cat 9300's together. The only thing you need to watch out for is if you had an older stackable switch. You can not mix for example a Cat 3850 with a Cat 9300. Also... For your server side of things. You may want to consider the Nexus 9K line of switches. The Nexus line was designed to be more of a Data Center centric switch. It may be worth a quick conversation with your Cisco Systems Engineer to make sure you get the correct switch in your DC.

    What model, part# can you recommend to replace a catalyst 3650G that will serve as an access switch? More like the switch is in every buidling department building and uplinks to the core switch in a Data Center. 48 ports (1G data, PoE). Would you recommend to get Modular uplinks of 10G or Fixed uplink? If modular you can just upgrade say to 25G, 40G or mGig? Not the whole switch like if you get fixed uplinks? Is it better to get the C9300 -xx T/P/U/S 1G or C9300L/LM 1G? I am new to Cisco switches. Thanks.

    There are both 24 and 48-port SFP C9300’s for Gigabit fiber. The C9500 switches are for 10-Gigabit SFP+ and higher (QSFP+). This could be confusing if you previously used C3850’s (1Gig) and C3850XS (10Gig) switches, and assumed the same hierarchy for the Catalyst 9k family. Note that unlike the 3850’s, C9300 switches are not stackable with C9500’s.

  • @CiscoSal

    @CiscoSal

    2 жыл бұрын

    Usually when i hear mlag that means your looking at Arista. This is typically used for data center core switches. So In that case you would want cisco nexus and vPC. The 9300 switch is designed to be an end user switch. You would plug PC’s, printers, access points etc… into them. If we look at more campus core technologies like the 9500 or 9600 then there is also stackwise virtual. Again catalyst is only recommended for campus and not for servers. Hope that helps.

    ETA just sounds like something coming from the marketing department. "machine learning algorythms detect network threads"... I can see network admin working thru false alarms over and over already.

    Good overview. Thanks. Cisco are stupid regarding the naming of 10 Gbp/s ports. So... stupid.

    That was more or less the standard when they started adding them to the switches. Future switches may use usb-c

    @@CiscoSal in minute 5:40 you said c3850 uplink module is compatible with c9300 switch, right? So instead of c9200-nm-4g uplink modules, can I use the c3850 uplink with c9300 switch?
