Sal, thank you very much for this video. I just want to ask if we can use the same subnet 192.168.1.0/24 for out of bound interface and Ap manager configurations on the same controller. For example 192.168.1.3 /24 for out bound interface and 192.168.1.4/24 for ap manger settings.

It’s not the adder license that would cause that. They will still register but give you out of compliance warnings, if you didn’t have enough licenses. You have something else going on.

Hello, did you choose random IP for WIreless management IP?

I own an old 2504. This model looks sweet. But it'll probably be a couple of decades, before this one gets affordable for lab use unfortunately. I really wish Cisco would make scaled down lab models, limited to 5 APs.

How about the virtual 9800 controller? Same functionality. Just need a server to put it on.

When you try to use the join the network at the moment 20:18, The popup raises, How do you know the error is related to access policy or vlan name? I got why this happen but didn't got the way of troubleshooting and how know the VLAN issue.

Is the max throughput for this box 20G by Port Channeling the 2 10g uplink ports?

Max throughput is 5gig. The dual ports are for redundancy. There is a performance license you can get. It basically takes off the software limit. Depending on traffic size you can expect anywhere between 5-10gig/sec with the license.

Dhcp typically comes from your network. You would usually have a dhcp server somewhere. I run mine on my switch. If you have no other place to run dhcp you can configure it on the 9800.

Our Stand-Alone devices will not have access to the Internet. Can you still activate your license without the internet using a simple copy and paste? Also, any plans on creating a video for more advanced settings?

So my wizard never popped up in the cli so I've been having a hard time setting this thing up. It just booted up to the prompt and that's it.

It’s probably easier to set it up via the gui.

mine does not give you the option to setup http server, why is that? Are you doing it through your laptop CLI? or vmware ESXi?

Hi Muhammad! You need to give the interface an IP address so you can reach it. If you dont statically set it, and rely on DHCP you would never know how to get to it. In my case I know what IP addresses are available. I take my statically assigned IP addresses out of my DHCP Scope. Hope that helps!

Hi unfortunately i do not do manufacture requested product reviews.

So bizarre to me that they went to Micro USB and not USB-C. They pulled this same trick w/ Mini USB, adopting it just when it got dropped by everyone. In 2 years I'm not going to be able to find a MicroUSB cable and have to support these for a decade after.

How much is it?

You can do the virtual controller, or use an AP as the controller. Lot of different options to fit your budget and the scale you need.
