    so funny when guys assume x characeristic that they have must not exist in women (unless they’re “low estrogen”, “not high value women”, “angry butch feminists”, “must be trans agenda, men in disguise” etc.) simply because they don’t see it in anime girls or the porn they watch, these being the women they’re voyeuristically making comparison to - not real live women…

Never in my life I have the feeling to commit crimes. And they didn't want her to abort even she was pleading to, she couldn't support the pregnancy sympthoms. Not that high fidelity always makes for better art, but it’s cool that you have more options + more range to communicate a design. Like when curly hair used to be really difficult to render not that long ago, now the tech has gotten so good we’ve been able to represent a wider variety of hairstyles and textures. Some people on the internet said that premature pregnancy, like 15 or even younger, aren't health damaging and life-threatening, because in the olden days that stuff happened all the time... And someone else said that those kind of pregnancy didn't really exist, because the age at which girls got their period was significantly higher (like 16-18)... I am concerned that I am even breathing the same air as them, and the fact that we live in the same solar system is terrifying...

  • @yaboicolleen

    @yaboicolleen

    It is true that the average age for when periods start has gone down, mostly bc of better nutrition iirc. There's actually a throwaway line in the first season of GoT when they're talking about if Sansa has gotten her "moon blood" yet and someone says something like, "High-born girls tend to start theirs earlier," and I was like, "Oh damn someone actually did some research, nice." Also like, pregnancy and childbirth are still INCREDIBLY dangerous without access to modern medicine, that's why dying in childbirth was so common and infant mortality rates were so high. Just bc something might've happened historically doesn't mean it was a good idea!

  • @courtykat

    @courtykat

    8 күн бұрын

    Mayyybe do a little research before complaining about sharing the same air...? Obviously the first comment is a dumb one, but the second one is correct, girls typically started their periods much later. They'd get married off as children, but wouldn't necessarily be able to bear children of their own yet. 12 was considered an early age to start bleeding even as recently as the 50s/60s! Nowadays, girls may start as early as 8, which is crazy to me and definitely doesn't indicate "better nutrition." No offense to the previous commenter, it's just that 8-year-olds are _definitely_ not developed enough to be experiencing that... The alternative theory I've heard is that the growth hormones used on animals for meat production are affecting the people (namely smaller children) who consume it, which may at least explain why periods keep coming sooner and sooner in the later generations.

A guy from a WestboroBaptistChurch-website (Don't ask how I ended up there, I was looking for a Harry Potter website and clicked too far, onto a Harry Potter hating website) was telling his fellow Christians that it was his birthday and people congratulated him. He then proceeded to type a lóng story on how he was celebrating the day he was born, because he "ripped his mother in half to make her pay for the sins of Eve" and how he loved the idea that God gave him the permission and opportunity to rip a woman apart like that, destroying her most sensitive parts (also despised his mom, if you hadn't guessed) and the rest of the comment was literally terrible details of how he hoped it happened. People upvoted/liked the comment and said that that'd punish her for being a sinful creature (woman) and that it showed his strength and..I don't remember, he sortof..he described it as if his mother had been a puppae/cocoon that he burst out of on his own strength, like her body was a restraint on him and luckily he struggled and fought his way out, to breathe air, leech off the woman's milk and grow and become the person to dominate the mother (because he was a man and in the religion, she was supposed to serve.) It reminded me a bit of Voldemort and Wormtail.. obviously it's very different, but Voldemort showed the same respect for Wormtails help and sacrifices as this guy, not to mention, despised the memories of being weak and not being capable of dominate others around him. Then again, maybe it reminded me of Harry Potter because I was _still looking_ for that website that I couldn't find.

    Same. Chronic illness + pain so I can't work, plus I live in the middle of nowhere, so to compensate I spend a lot of time online or at least with KZread playing in the background. I always think that I might be online too much, but at least I still know the earth is round, space is real, transphobia is bigotry, slavery is infinitely worse than a private medical procedure, and autism didn't come from people being afraid of Medusa.

    Relating. Can't move around well with many chronic illnesses. I'm inside aside the doctor visits. So being online a lot has been both bad and good. • @Lara-gc9wd

    @Lara-gc9wd

    Chronic onlineness is less about "I spend a lot of time online" and more about "I've spent so much time in an online space with its own rules, acceptable worldviews, and politics that I've become completely unaware of how the rest of reality functions," or "I've spent so much time curating an online space that excludes any experience, argument or worldview that I cannot be validated by that I cannot actually process or engage with a large range of viewpoints, something that is a vital human experience and critical to developing social skills and personal beliefs" So it's less about how much time you spend online and more about how you engage with the online spaces you are presented with. If you're able to look critically at how much you are online and how that could potentially distort your reality, then that's a good sign you're in the clear

    Yes but with the way “triggered” is used I get the worry. As someone with c-ptsd I hate seeing triggered used all the time, and I’m starting to see the word “trauma” is being used the same way and it’s concerning to say the least.

    I had to stop being friends with someone who was chronically online because she started accusing me of all sorts of shit that just wasn't true. They are truly the most exhausting people to be around.

    Been there..I had a really close friend who had a go at me for accidently making my other friend feel worried for a moment and he made me out to be a toxic person and instantly called me toxic as soon as I showed any sign of annoyance towards him from the way he was treating me and my friends.

    SAAAME sorry you went through it. I had to give up on basically all my friends from teen years because they grew up being obsessed with social media to the point they just became different people. Never really grew up.

    dude I said I didn't like a character in a kpop fanfiction and this girl who was reading it as well liked her said that I was RACIST???!?!! she yelled that in a train and our class (we were going to the FCE exam hall) all looked at me with wide eyes and I didn't know how to act! it was awful especially since I come from Brazil a place where being mixed with everything is the norm and (most) people don't care about skin color. im not her friend anymore cuz she being chronically online accused me of so much shit and made me feel horrible

    I know it’s mostly the bare minimum for being a good person but kurtis’ casual anti-transphobia and respect for queer people means a lot to me personally. Esp because a lot of creators pat themselves on the back and act like they’re doing something profound and major by just not being a dick to trans ppl. Kurtis’ channel feels like a safe space and I appreciate open 😊support from any public figure especially since transphobia and homophobia is so prevalent online
