Guest is maybe the only guest I’ve ever seen sit next to Norm and not get interrupted by him. I think he earned Norm’s respect (if he didn’t already have it) with the “Sailors ahoy!” gift to Andy

Super genius just walked on the set. I love this man and his work.

God he is so great. Love his work so much. Spinal Tap was required viewing in my family growing up. Everything he does is just fantastic

He was Harry Bailey, Mary Bailey Hatch's younger brother in the 1977 movie "It Happened One Christmas" --- a remake of the Jimmy Stewart classic "It's a Wonderful Life." Very young.

What were his recent comments? I’ve been trying to find what you and a few others are talking about but I can’t find anything recent, the only thing I can find is a Twitter thread from years ago where he was upset about the Swedish-German joke

He was basically saying that he didn't like Norm making jokes about him being gay because if he went along with said jokes, then his gay family members and friends may look at him as being complicit in, as he saw it, mocking their lifestyle.

5:15 - The first time I've seen him laugh ever.

I was thinking yesterday that the two funniest people I've ever seen are Christopher Guest and Norm MacDonald, and here they are sitting right next to eachother. So much talent in one couch.

What a great comedic pairing XD Guest's dry humor is right up Norm's alley, I hope he was taking notes lol

Waiting For Guffman is absolutely brilliant.

I first heard of him when he was with National Lampoon. Mr. Roberts ... a parody of Mr. Rogers with Bill Murray. Hilarious if you can find it.

"Waiting for Guffman" is hilarious. And the other movie Guest directed was Chris Farley's last, sadly.

I think I get it... he doesn't like obvious questions, but he's also kind of riffing with it, with deadpan so dead and pan that no one knows if something just happened or not lmao. This is actually genius stuff

Poor Chris. One of the few times he tried to be playful and jokey with another guest and that's the reaction he got. Maybe people should remember this the next time they complain that he's too icy in interviews.

Christopher Guest is British and is a Lord, he is The 5th Baron Haden-Guest. His title is The Right Honourable The Lord Christopher Haden-Guest, he sits in the House of Lords.

I never knew he and Norm worked together (if he wasn't kidding), but you definitely get the vibe that Norm doesn't like him.

actually Norm has huge respect for Guest. The joke went over people's heads. He said they were in a two man act but they both played straight men. Norm was playing off the joke. People didn't catch it. I'm sure both Norm and Chris couldn't give a shit :)

I actually feel bad for Andy in this one. In the previous segment Norm was joking that Andy likes gay porn, which was funny, but Guest takes it too far and runs the joke into the ground with his “tape”. The joke was over. You can only fuck with a guy for so long. I think Norm didn’t like it either.

Norm was laughing, and honestly, it looks to me like Andy is playing at being angry. It’s a comedy show, he knows he has to be able to take some ribbing if the guests want to do that. I think what annoyed him with Norm later on was that it became a running joke every time he was on the show. In typical Norm fashion he beat that dead horse into the ground.😂
