So this time I'm sharing "Prima Donna" by Chicago. This was actually one of a few songs I started working a number of years ago, but never shared as I never liked how the Pro Tools version turned out. The piano arrangement was on the "simpler" side too along with the Pro Tools production...namely because I didn't know as much as I do now on either end of the work.
It was rather intriguing to look up various versions of the song by Chicago to see what material to pull together for this. If you're wondering why there's a faint version of John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in the background well...one of the versions I studied for this was on the soundtrack for a movie they were in called Two of a Kind. I hadn't known about the movie before this because apparently...it didn't do well...at all. However, the mix and instrumentation of that version was different from the album version I grew up listening to - one part in particular being the horn riff at 3:53 into the video.
I also want to shout out the guitar cover by bwm5150 that's on KZread as it help identify the guitar parts in the background and what I wanted to include in this arrangement/mix! There are a number of other parts not in the original song and those are from the first attempt that I kept in this or some new "filler" parts I added.
I'll likely add a "backing showcase" for this too once I figure out just what parts to try to show...
