Chef Johnny Spero's Inspiring Comeback Story | Customer Spotlight | Made In Cookware

Chef Johnny Spero's Inspiring Comeback Story | Customer Spotlight | Made In Cookware
Join us in Washington D.C. as we speak to acclaimed Chef and Made In customer Johnny Spero. Chef Spero opened Bar Spero in September 2022, just one month after his Michelin-starred restaurant, Reverie, was destroyed in a fire. While he contemplates how to rebuild Reverie, Spero has focused his energy in the more casual, Basque-inspired Bar Spero. The majority of the menu consists of locally sourced seafood cooked over live fire. Chef Spero’s goal is to create a fun and welcoming experience for his guests, whether they are in the mood for a cheeseburger or a whole turbot.

This man lost so much to that fire. It's inspiring to see how he transformed adversity into a fresh start, harnessing the power of the fire to his advantage.

Made In is an advertising company that happens to sell pans. I bought three of their stainless steel pans because my new electric glass cooktop requires perfectly flat pans. I used the 3.5 qt. sauté pan about ten times under NORMAL USE, and the pan developed a cupped bottom rendering it almost useless. The only way to contact Made In is through their website. In the last year, I’ve filled out the online form three times and have never received a response. So this feel-good story makes great PR, but they don’t give a crap about their regular customers and their pans don’t seem to hold up to light home use. How’s it going to fair in a restaurant? They don’t stand behind their products and their customer service is nonexistent.
