CHEAP Yamaha R1 WRECK is Worse than Expected! - Part 2

CHEAP YAMAHA R1 WRECK is WORSE than expected!
I thought I was making a good deal when I bought this wrecked 2007 Yamaha R1 from Copart junkyard, but it’s got so much more damage than the pictures were showing…
I guess an inspection would have been a good idea!
In this video, I start working on the wrecked Yamaha R1, I take the subframe off, the tank, the fairings etc and I realize that not only the oil pan is broken but the motor is cracked with a hole in it…
No wonder it was leaking oil all over my garage floor!
OK, that hole in the engine block is not structurally compromising so now I’ll TIG weld the thing back together and have this engine purring fast!
There is also a broken bolt in the block so I remove it too, because I really want to be able to use as many bolts as possible to hold the new oil pan in place and have no leak.
Stay tuned for more!

That’s right! For the cast aluminum welding I chose welding rod of ER4043. The video of the result releases in 2 days

Do you think that there is a chance that yellow powder all over the bike is from a fire extinguisher

That is actually a great question ! I have been wondering why I have that awful powder all over the bike and have no clue what it really is. You may be right man! It could be that. Just an extra cautious gesture because the bike clearly didn’t burn, maybe procedure with some firefighters?

@@TristanDurandBuilds I mean why did you buy that complete wreck? I'm guessing you like a challenge and aren't short of money? I'm guessing, that your viewers may well respect what you're doing but would never think of buying this after and if you fix it? The money you spent on a tig welder could have been spent on a bike that hasn't been through the crusher.

I think one of the very reasons people rebuild wrecks is because they are short on money. My TIG welder will be used for years on many different projects, motorcycle or not. I learned a skill, priceless
