Charity Lee Interview

Sonya interviews Charity Lee of The Ella Foundation. Charity shares her unique story of how she had fallen victim to violent crimes in her family ... from her mother to her father and later to her own son and daughter. The Ella Foundation, named after her daughter Ella who was murdered by her son, was formed to be an advocacy group for both the victims and the family members of those convicted of violent crimes.

*a*, Charity did claim that to be true. Her response was that she didn't think that would have done him any good. The problem is that if she had acted on the phychologist's diagnose, Ella would still be here. You need to research further. Charity may have changed her mind since, but she had admitted to that diagnose. They all knew Paris had mental issues but continued to stay in denial or couldn't accept it.

Mearleain Smith I do pray for her but though she insists there were no signs, there was that doc's diagnosis and via the documentary Paris shakes his baby sister and later a video with him saying “kill charity's children”, how are these NOT warnings? Perhaps she was in denial?

What kind of help should she have gotten him? It's not an easy task to do. The mental health system does little to nothing for kids with that kind of issues. Unless you have unlimited funds, or the child commits a crime, resources are extremely limited. Unfortunately, the systems are all set up to blame parents for their child's issues rather than help them.

The reason she didn't disclose her father's murder before is the same reason she later sought her mother's "love" and left GA and moved in with her mother on the Bennet estate (after her mother and Paris filed a lawsuit against her) and why, despite the shifting sands of alianses and subterfuge, they all profess love for each other. This is a very intelligent but mentally ill family.

I disagree. Genetics are only 50% and no promise the mental illnesses in one side of the family will be passed down. The sincerity in her voice and demeaner shows someone who was set up to be a lifetime victim. The system is responsible for this because they did not hold her mother accountable for murder and prosecute her. Children learn what they live.

I realize that this was filmed ages ago, but some of the comments make me sick. The judgement and people telling her what she should or should not have done, so much victim blaming. This lady has lived through so much. She had a traumatic childhood and probably didn't get the best emotional support in her upbringing and to help her after what happened to her father. She was doing the best that she could with what she had to support and love her children. Most of us are just trying our best, life is rarely pretty, perfect and straight forward. We all make mistakes, but the bottom line is Paris CHOSE to do what he did. I bet Charity would turn back time if she could, so the comments are so unnecessary. I hope she has all the support and love she needs, I have so much respect for her. I couldn't have survived all of that.

Instead of watching sadistic porn, he should have googled the consequences or what’s going on in prisons! Now he knows! A living hell until 2047! I don't know why you skipped right past all the stuff that got the boy in that state. It's so obvious this woman had a very isolated traumatic childhood which led her to having such a traumatic adult life. Whenever a parent is emotionally abused like she was and they go through life trying to find the culprit, her mother clearly started the whole cycle of abuse that is more emotional neglect and the most painful. No wonder diving into heroin and hard lifestyle was her anger at her own mother for killing her dad. My concern is that poor kid who still isn't getting any help at all. Oh boy that kid hates his mother in ways she can't still understand why. No father? What did he just disappear? Comon people this kid is a victim here also. She paints a rosy picture of his childhood but I don't think she ever knew how her son was feeling, by having a mother run around telling everyone she was a heroin addict! Poor kid has anyone ever wondered why he wants to kill his mother?

His mother should have put him in inpatient psychiatric care long before the murder. There, he could have been given intensive psycho-therapy where his violent instincts could have been curtailed by making him realize physical and emotional violence is counter-productive to his best and only real interest, himself. Once he realizes prison equates to his own suffering, he would direct his instincts into other avenues, most likely business which where these emotional cripples tend to excel. It all could have gone another way for Paris. He could be a multi-millionaire business mogul now having stepped on countless people to make it and skirting legality to make sure he's kept on top. They're even capable of families, and though they never truly fall in love with their spouse, they are capable of having something closely approximating 'affection' for their children, solely because on a primal level they see their children as extensions of themselves. End of the day, in my opinion, she fucked up. There is no cure, but they can be managed if you successfully manipulate their ego and self-serving nature.

Not as many as you think. In most prisons you can sit and touch a prisoner. Most times if they are in minimum or medium security prisons they can touch. Heck if they are in federal lower security prison they don't have fences and barb wire. They have signs do not cross this path. My brother had a playground outside his "jail" where his kids would come play when they visited.

It could have been just a silly 2 yr old putting words together or it could have been something someone said and the 2 yr old picked up on it. I love how people assume they know it must be something the child was taught. 2 yr olds can actually form their own sentences. I can remember my own children repeating things they had heard in an adult convo or even standing in line at a grocery store. Heck even things they heard at daycare and I wouldn't have a clue where they knew it from. Kids are sponges and you don't always remember to check yourself when you are speaking around a child.
