    I did a credenza in one of your techniques. I sent a pic to me stocklist and she sent it to Annie Sloan and it was put on Annie Sloan America FB page a couple weeks ago (September 24)! That thing was huge and took me about 4 days to paint it using that technique but it was worth it! I was going to post pics but either it won't let me or I can't figure it out!

    Shelly M ... thank you so much Shelly 🙏... I really appreciate your kind feedback and comment... it’s so nice to hear your getting value to my tutorials 💙... my sincere apologies... regarding the hardware... yes I do add gliding wax which comes in gold, sliver, copper ... I did add copper to the hardware... I totally forgot about it in my editing the video. It does enhance the hardware... I love adding gliding wax to all my hardware furniture pieces... sometimes if the hardware is in really good shape or like the original colour tone ... you can just remove them of course. But the gliding wax is a great way to buff them up with a shine again and match the metal tone to the colours you painted your piece! As to your first question... I know about some basic colour mixing ... for example... red and blue make purple... yellow and blue make green... so for the viewers... perhaps you only have blue paint ... so instead of buying green paint just add the dark wax to change the tone to more green... it also sets off a nice patina appearance which looks aged over time. It’s truly all trial and error.. lol. I plan to show all kinds of fun mix’s in my future tutorials ... thank you so much for subscribing and again really appreciate your sweet feedback 🙏💙... I promise to invest in better equipment for my my tutorials so they are super clear and sharp to watch... I have so many fun ideas to share 😉🤗

    Cassandra Smith ... thank you so much Cassandra 🙏... for you kind comment 💙... a typical project takes me a full day from start to finish... you have to stop for drying ... so depending on the size ( lets say a 3 drawer dresser) will take about 3-4 hours and a 5 drawer dresser 5-6 hours... when I stage the project and photos I normally wait till the next day to let the wax dry a bit. Remember you can space your time over a view days of even weeks ... never feel rushed! When I first started learning my techniques ... I would on average easily space it out to a well or so... I wanted to understand my progress and correct my errors lol. I am hoping my tutorials will give value and eliminate errors for others... hope this helps! • @TheReclaimedHeirloom

    @TheReclaimedHeirloom

    4 жыл бұрын

    Sue Pittman ... the bottle is a mist spray bottle with just water .. this helps move and blend the chalk paint 🎨😉 If you were using an acrylic base paint... you wouldn’t need to use water or very little... chalk paint is water base so it dries very quickly so it’s important to have water with you when your painting 👍🏻💙

    Kellene Ellexson ... thank you 🙏 so much for your kind feedback... I appreciate your kind comment... and “yes” ... the segment of the blending was out of order ... I think because wanted to show more blending before to the final steps... so the additional blending should have been placed before the Honfleur and Primer Red... the editing takes so long to to sequence... the videos look so easy to make... but they are actually more time taking than the project lol. • @TheReclaimedHeirloom

    @TheReclaimedHeirloom

    Dawn Ruhl ... I just used a chippy brush when I applied the red/ brown colour tones ... I applied the paint using a light stabbing motion and it’s important to have your brush slightly moist .... this helps with the original colours applied and the next application of colours to feather into each other. Hope this reply helps... if you have any other questions please feel free to contact anytime 😉

    I did love the project and the finished look. I have a 3 piece bedroom set, chest of drawers with mirror, a vanity with matching stool and bed with head and footboard that I want to do this process to. Thank you for posting and sharing your knowledge. But, please consider talking instead of playing that horrible music. Even if you’re just reading over what you have wrote and added to the video. Sometimes while working on a project things poop into your head that you might want to tell us, but once you start editing you forget it. Also, hearing your voice makes this video more relatable. @@TheReclaimedHeirloom okay but I was just wondering did you put the clear wax on first and then the dark wax? I have never seen anyone use dark wax like that. I've only used it and only seen it use as highlights in crevices. I really love what you did it is really cool.

  • @TheReclaimedHeirloom

    @TheReclaimedHeirloom

    4 жыл бұрын

    Jami Herlihy ... my apologies as I normally write that step even in the written portion to clear wax first 😉... it’s always best to clear wax as your main seal... this will lock your paint and protect! Clear wax will enrich the colours and even deepen a bit... but it won’t change them. The dark wax will change colours... as it has a brown/yellow tone to the wax ... so what made this project fun was to see the blues turn more into green as I added the dark wax. I normally just do edges and corners but sometimes depending on the look your wanting to achieve it can really add age and even a patina appearance ( like this tutorial) ... if you ever use dark or black wax... always try a small corner or one the side and see if you like it?... since you have clear wax on first ... if you don’t like it ... the dark can be wiped off again! Hope this helps and I didn’t say to much lol 💙💙

    Karen Goode ... thanks for your feedback... this piece had a lot of detail and the layout of the video could have been better.... some of my favourite finishes take 2-3 days to complete. I had over 8 hours to edit into less than 20’min for all the details. So I am learning to project the tutorial towards more close ups and less wordy boxes. So definitely taking in feedback is important so viewers can be successful to understand. Thanks again ... I appreciate that you like the finish 💙
