Chainsaw Carving...The Great Big Gnome
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Greetings!
Thanks for taking the time to view this video. Today's project is a first for me, as I will attempt to carve a big tree stump into a forest gnome. Another item that I can check off of my bucket list of artistic endeavors made for an amusing video to share. Watch as I work my way through this 5 foot cedar stump to bring a bit of whimsy to a beautiful forest patch!
Please consider subscribing, liking and sharing if you would be so kind. Your support for my channel is very much appreciated and will give me the inspiration and incentive to create more fun project videos to share with you in the future.
Thanks for watching and have a wonderful day!

Hi Lizzie, I'm back again. I've checked the link and I'm glad to say that it's working. In the meantime I've watched the original carving vid and found it most enjoyable. Thanks so much!

Thanks for checking, glad you are helpful...and amused!
I'm so glad you got me here eventually Lizzie - as I said in my previous message, I don't know how I missed it when it came out - it's a joy to see this sort of sculpture executed from start to finish. Well, almost finish. Now I'll go back to the colouring vid. Thanks again for all your efforts.

Thanks so much! It was definitely a fun challenge and now that he's done, I am glad I have a watcher in the woods!😄
For your first Chainsaw carving you did fantastic. I have been carving for three years now in Germany, and my big problem is how hard I can be on myself. Love how you just enjoy the process. People are always impressed with the finished work, but I just can't feel good about my carving until the customers are happy. Watching you will make me remember that it is art and I should enjoy this process. Thanks you for that.

I really enjoyed reading your comments, thank you! It should always be about fun and trying new skills. I think so many people are complacent in just staying with what they know and don't want to venture out and that is sad to me. Life is about challenging yourself. If it doesn't work out, try something else but enjoy the process and live to tell a story of how you took the time to learn. Thanks again, I really appreciate your time!😉
Great job! You did wonderful!

Thank you very much! Definitely a challenge for me and I thoroughly enjoyed the process. I hope to post another video when I get to finishing him. I'm glad you like it!😊
Oh, he turned out great! 💯 I love that this is your first chainsaw carving. So cute! 🥰 Excellent job! I would recommend chainsaw chaps or pants, eye protection, and steel toe boots. I started Dremel carving last year, and I fell in love with it. I have slowly been building up my power carving tools so I can do bigger carvings. And I just bought my first chainsaw, angle grinder, and straight die grinder. I'm so looking forward to my first chainsaw carve too.😊👍

Thank you so much! I think if I get into chainsaw carving more, those items will be a great investment. He's also not quite done but awaiting better weather to do the finishing work. Appreciate your view and input. Good luck on your future projects!😁

How can anyone not love a nice little gnome!? Thanks very much😊
Hi not sure what your name is . Congratulations on your your first chainsaw carving. You have a good eye and know what you want him to look like and you chipped away with the saw until he came out . As a chainsaw carver myself there is a saying go deep it adds a lot of dimension and shadows to the carving. A couple of tips be VERY careful of that small hand held battery saw I used one and tried using it for fine detail and got a kick back and cut my finger not bad but enough to not use it again. Also when sanding please use a dust mask cedar dust is very hard on the lungs sanding black walnut is deadly. Just a suggestion thanks for sharing with some patients and practice you will develop your technique and your speed will increase along with your confidence

Oh my gosh, thank you for that very useful advice! My name is Lizzie☺️ Yes, I'm not a big fan of that mini and now that I have had the chance to check into other tooling options, I think getting a dime tip for my Stihl, would be a better choice. Mask is a necessary evil, especially when it's humid! But I will heed that advice as well for the next time I get back there to finish up. Glad you approve!
Great job .

I'm a beginner carver, I've done 5 projects so far. With the holidays coming up I thought a gnome would be a perfect choice. You did great with Artimus considering the size, that was an ambitious goal but you did an amazing job.

Well thank you so much! It's not easy being a beginner, I am seeing a lot of techniques that could have been done differently, since I am researching this. Ambitious...yes, that's the story behind my channel name. I tend to get ahead of myself sometimes! Thanks so much for watching and good luck in your carving!😊

Thanks very much! I also find KZread a wonderful source of knowledge. I worked on this carving for about 5 days, maybe 4 to 6 hours each day. I had to take many breaks because I got tired! Someday, when the weather is better, I will finish him up. Thanks for watching!😉
This is a wonderful gnome!! I'm about ready to carve my 1st ever tree stump into a lighthouse. Your video was a great one to watch to give me confidence to use my son's chainsaw. Thanks for making this video!!!❤❤
