    I just ran my first print on my Canon Pro 1000. That print was the standard test print like you show in your videos. My monitor is nothing special but, I calibrated it with a ColorMunki Display. The print out of the Canon Pro 1000 was a dead-on match to my monitor. I did the head alignment and color calibration first. Also, I used Affinity Photo to open the image file and set output from there. So far so good. Thanks.

    I think it's a good idea to certify your printer every few months just to make sure nothing drifts in your settings. As always excellent advice Jose 👍

    Thank you Jose . I printed the test photo on my Canon IPF Pro 2000 and Canon HW Coated HG mat paper which was included in the printer when I bought it. I set the brightness level in the LR Print module to +18% . The result was close to my monitor, however, there was a a noticeable shift in purple color ; the image was also slightly darker, but I can increase the brightness when printing. Overall I am happy with the results. By the way, this is my first photo printer !!!!!!

    You're using the wrong approach. Your monitor has to be calibrated to match your output of a standard image printed with simply the driver controlling color you must also use a Canon paper for this circle certification of your printer also make sure you do the internal calibration of your Pro 2000. The fact that you're having to manually adjust brightness in the driver tells me your monitor Luminosity is set too high.

    Hi Jose, You were talking about our session yesterday ! Great detail on this video. I took notes so I have all the settings to refer back to later. OTHER THINGS YOU HELPED ME WITH DURING OUR ONE ON ONE SESSION: One thing you mentioned in our session which I found helpful (but you missed on the video) was to NOT check the Preview Before Printing box as it can cause a pinkish hue on the photos which I have experienced. (who would have thought that button click could cause such a problem). You also sent me a link for the test print from your Facebook page which I found helpful. You set me straight on color space (RGB vs. Adobe RGB vs. others): You explained to me that in Lightroom I didn't have to worry about that as the color space is preset in Lightroom (unlike in Photoshop). You explained to me about the problem with prints fading if they are not behind glass and how to protect them with sprays (Moab Desert Varnish, Hannamei or Premier Print Shield) available through links on your Facebook web page. We also spent some time talking about scanning slides or negatives using Epson V800 Perfection or Nikon scanner (I think the Nikon software is no longer supported). You're what we called a "SME" in the corporate world. I used to hire consultants for big bucks in those days: Subject Matter Experts (SME). Keep up the good work and thanks so much.

    Hello Ron. I left that out but I will add it and other things to subsequent videos in fact I included in today's upload. I'm going to be doing a lot more concerning the Pro 1000 driver where I will be discussing many of the adjustments one can make inside the driver I think a lot of people need to have this information out as it is very difficult to find.

    No idea I use only Windows. We only get 3 choices. Either the Driver or the Application. You do it manually and you then KNOW you have done it correctly. I do not like automation. I have to see that what I set IS what I wanted to set.

    Hello Jose I saw this video and raised a few questions: 1/ I don't 100% understand how I can check whether the color on the printed test sheet are correct without having the original photo ? My eyes will adapt and give me subjective impression, don't they ? 2/ under what kind of light do I need to see the printed testsheet: you mention daylight: is that 5000K light bulb?

    Yes I was Shocked... It was my first with Canon, I have been shooting Nikon for 15 years and was expecting well not such great service... oh I also got a $900 check from Canon but that was coming anyway from Order. the Print head and Ink came with First Printer. it was so messed up I could not even think of loading The printhead let alone the Ink ... but the rep on the phone apologized for the damage and told me that I should keep the Ink and Printhead that came with it and would come with the new one as well .... yes it was amazing and even a year later when I had an update question... I still shoot Nikon but this beast of a printer is amazing ...

    Hi there! I just bought myself a Pro 1000 after going back and forth between the Canon and the Epson p900. In the end it was just cheaper to get and I think the output is quiet similar. So I am setting it up right now and all your videos are super helpful, thanks a lot! Do you know where i can find this color chart, because it seems you have to pay for such one? Kind regards, Kevin

    When you print with MEDIA made for CANON printers you will be using the or printing through the actual matching ICC profile by using these settings. So the results are the same.

    I use non canon /Epson papers like innova ,these come with their own icc profiles , accurate printing requires that you print through photoshop , to make sure prints aren’t too dark , turn screen brightness down to about 2/3 to 3/4 from full .

  • @cheo1949

    @cheo1949

    No. We are ONLY certifying the printer by itself here. Nothing else. That's why you do not want anything else interfering with the process. Once you establish that the printer can indeed print a correct rendition of that image...then and only then can you begin to explore printing with the application controlling color through a Canon paper profile. By the way you will get the same results either way. As the drive actually does link to the Canon profiles automatically. BUT ONLY when using Canon media. Not others.
