Nice video, thank you :-) At the end you spoke about the next video that will be about red river review of Pro-1000 and couple of things that are not in the instruction manual. Which from your videos is about this? I failed to find it.

Really nice printer I can see why it gets 5 stars from Best buy. I have three Epson printers and a HP. I'm very tempted to buy one after seeing you're video. lol every printer I have never got over 4 stars on reviews. maybe it's time to add Canon to my collection. Thank you for the maintenance video.

Hi, do you have a service manual for this?

Hi Jose, wondering how I can clean my sponges? I do not print borderless but over time sponges have become saturated with ink and they are now staining the back of my larger size prints. Is it just a matter of dabbing the sponges with absorbing paper? I'd love to see a video of how you clean your Pro-1000 sponges including how to move the print head to access all areas. Thank you!

Could you use roller cleaning sheets from red river on this printer? Also the manual says that the roller cleaning will harm the rollers and do it sparing?

Do you maybe know if Canon ipf 6100s has service mode and how to enter to it?

I don't think I did a Red River study specifically involving the PRO1000. I did test several RR papers on several printers. But not exclusive to the PRO1000. What I did do was a Red River paper and 3rd party inks PLAYLIST.

Thanks for the videos, Jose. It seems like as time goes by you like the Pro 1000 more than the p800? Once you do a color calibration for a certain paper, can you save that calibration somehow so that you don't have to re do it as papers are switched? IOW, can you have a list of saved settings for the various papers you are using to minimize paper usage? Thanks

Yes Apparently that is the case. But I simply just do it with Pro Luster as it is the paper I mostly use due to having so much of it.

A lot of useful informations. When I do the calibration, I have to use Canon paper or I can do with other type of luster paper? I saw that I can calibrate only on top tray, so I have to pay attention to gsm of paper. Thank

The reason for internal calibration is simply to bring that particular unit to a factory standard. . They are mass-produced so they are never going to have identical outputs among a particular model series. So in order to be able to accurately calibrate the printer you must use a paper for which it is intended to be used with. Once you perform the calibration you are done. Now you can switch over to other papers and whatever variables that other paper will bring, you have to deal with through Custom media profiling.

Couldn't you also do all of these functions from the printer utilities software on the mac?

How would I do that since I do not use nor own MAC computer! Some day I night just have to but now yet. Besides these options are in the Printer's LED screen. You don't need the driver. Also MAC automatically lets you either print with the driver or with ICC profiles in your Editing app automatically setting the driver to no color matching or management.

Just started watching your videos and find them very informative, thank you.🙂 For a Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-1000, what would you say is the minimum size print you can make ( about every other day) and still avoid clogging and unnecessary ink use?

4x6 but be aware that nothing you can do to sidesteps Canon's maintenance cleanings.

I don't. Why would you need to put the?PRO1000 in service mode? Even if you could you would need a service tool and special log on credentials to connect to the CANON Service Server to use it. It's not like the old days any more.

Jose can i use just standered ink jet paper for nozzle check ? like you would print a word doc on ?

Absolutely. The plain paper that comes in reams is all you need.

I'll be photographing in the SW and California for the next 4-6 months. Should I just leave the printer plugged in at home and 'on' with a full set of cartridges and let it self clear? take the printer along with me? or is there a program that can do a test of some sorts daily or weekly while I am away? Unplug it. When you get back repower and hopefully after a large cleaning cycle and nozzle check it will fine.

Jose. Help! I did all of your recommended maintance and the color calibration and my printer still does not print reds adequately. I use the same evaluation image that you use and the strawberry is somewhere between orange and red. The baby's faces are pasty white. I am using printing through LR with the canon luster ICC profile. Any suggestions?

You should get the same results I am getting. Print letting the driver control color. In the driver or in LR print module go to Page Setup and in the DRIVER chose LUSTER and click on the box Color/Intensity Manual Adjustment. Then MATCHING then ICM and the choose Relative Colorimetric as your Tendering Intent. You are on WINDOWS is I hope.

I wanted to ask you about how to start using the Precision Colors and I hope you don’t mind me asking it here. I’ve now accumulated a full set of backup cartridges. My question is after purchasing and filling these with Precision Colors and then when one of the current set, which are OEM inks, goes low, I would replace the entire set. Can I then refill any of the set I remove with the Precision Color inks even though there is ink left in the removed OEM set? Can I mix the inks? Or what method to you recommend. Again thanks for the videos!

Once you establish two full sets all filled with PC then yes. One full set at a time. You do not mention the printer model!!!! That would sure help! If it is the PRO-100 then you exchange the whole set when one is declared low. It it's the PRO-10 you wait till ONE is empty and then exchange the whole set of 10. Assuming of course you do have two full sets filled with PC inks already!

I've only done a few RR papers. Not really a review per se against something else but just a try out and see how they performed. I don't like doing reviews as it is just my opinion against someone else's. For instance I seldom will do an ink comparison as I would need say three of the same printer loaded with three different inks. I don't have that kind of money.

Hi Jose. I have a question regarding Pro 100. I have just noticed strange noise while printing. And it's like the printer 'chews' the corners of the paper before it ejects it. Also, at the very beginning of printing, there is a mark, like a stain of ink on the very edge of the paper. It only happens with full bleed prints. One of the cartridges (Photo cyan) was low, and I refilled it. But the problem still persists. Help! Thank you!!

Okay, Fixed :-D After the usual cleaning of head and rollers, I chose the 'prevent abrasion' option, and it worked! :-))

Make sure your paper is dead flat! And please consider not printing borderless. It introduces ALL SORTS of problems!

Jose do we need to do most of these procedures as well for the pro 10 and 100?

Yes except for the internal Color Calibration! It is only available on the PRO-1000 and higher.

have you try the pro-300 ? is the pro-300 same level of maintenance ?

Should be. I do not nor will likely get one since I have a PRO10. If I didn't I would get one. If you want reviews I would go to Keith Cooper's channel. He has reviewed it. I don't do reviews for the sake of reviews. I get a certain model print and explore how to get 120% out of it then pass on those "Tricks" to the viewers. I try to go past what EPSON of Canon tells you.

The beautiful Pro 1000 needs as much time investing in its maintainence as it does money 😋😉

Hi i wanted to ask something about my hp plotter 800 it is printing purple or dark purple shade instead of blue, i tried changing the printheads and reinstalling the firmware and drivers on my PC but nothing worked. Please help me.

Since I do not use HP printers I could not even begin to tell what to do. Have you run a nozzle check to see if the channels are all firing?

I just got the error code 2500 on three different Pro Luster papers I loaded when It tried to do Print Head Alignment. What gives? Prior to that, I did the nozzle check on plain paper and it looked like the option "A" on both. So what's going on?

What printer???? CANON? Do your nozzle check on Luster or Glossy so you can clearly see if it is PERFECT or Not. If it is not the Head alignment will fail.

Prograf 1000@@cheo1949 - it's really odd, the nozzle check did have both PGY and PC inks not printed in the sheet so I am guessing they are entirely low and that's why the Alignment failed too?

Can i move my pro1000 to the new office within a 15min. Car ride without emptying all the tanks if its not bumpy?

Turn it off and pull the plug and keep it as stead and leveled as possible only a few degrees off level will spill ink internally. Be aware that once you power it back up it will perform a large cleaning cycle.

Regards question 1). I'd use glossy simply because you'll get the most precise, sharpest print with as little surrounding bleed thus giving the printer a more accurate basis upon which to do head alignment. 😉

Glossy! No service manual is available to the underground masses yet. There are no Auto rest Chips for the PRO-1000 only single use.

Yes, It was working perfectly for a while. I am a photographer so I printed a lot of prints large & smaller. Everything was perfect until I got that notice. There definitely is a print heads still in the machine.

Hi Jose, I like to watch your videos. I am from Cuba and I have a Canon Pro 1000 but the ink I bought is sts ink. Have you ever used this ink? how could i reload Ink cartridges without refill kit? I need an answer please, I have already bought 4 liters of STS brand ink. greetings from Cuba July Have you thought about making videos in Spanish?

It's very ink. I have a spanish channel but it only has a few basic videos. I do not know the printer terminology in spanish. Look for Aqui se habla Inmpresoras

Hold on, there are sensors inside the printer? I don't think so. I think you need to buy a hardware calibration device to create custom paper profiles. Am I wrong?

My canon 1000 photos are printing in red tint, what can I do to fix this problem. I am using Lightroom classic

Because none of my printers need these procedures. If I had one in need of help I would have shown you. Performing these things when not needed can cause more harm than good.
