I got my Pro-1000 for $999 in December. The Pro-300 was $699. Yes it uses ink to stay precise, yes you'll have to set "prevent paper abrasions" at some point, yes the Mac system doesn't render colors (blues in particular) as accurately as Windows, BUT printing your photos on this BEAST will re-invigorate your photographic desires. So far I've printed 200+ - 5x7s (many for proofing), 50 - 8.5x11s, 20 - 13x9s and 4 - 17x22s. Those 4 have a WOW factor beyond what I thought and make this a fantastic decision. I might not have missed the 17x22 size, but now that I have seen it in production, I wouldn't go back. I replaced the Chroma Optimizer the other day for the first time. As JOSE pointed out, set the prints to OVERALL for the Chroma, not AUTO. It uses more CO, but you won't have the eye-catching Matte look to the high whites with the prints at specific angles. THANKS JOSE for some fantastic info and suggestions. I print everyday, and the Canon still goes through its cycles, but I'm only 3/4 through my first Maintenance cartridge, with 2 for backup and the ink lasts longer than I thought. The Yellow warning does come up very early for ink replacement, but know there are many more prints to come.

Great info packed vid. Thank you. Would like to have a larger than 17" printer someday even tow it doesn't make financial sense for me & the larger size wouldn't be used that often. Also would like something with larger ink carts hoping it would reduce the cost of the ink per mil.

Jose - just discovered your channel. I have a very light use over the years Epson R2000. Having difficult time cleaning with syringe and plastic hose the yellow and red heads. Also, not too sure about gloss optimizer..? I bought a cheap syringe kit on Amazon which came with clear “head cleaner”. I really hate throwing this printer away. What would you do? I want to try a stronger solvent…? Thanks

G'day Jose I'm a very happy pro 1000 owner. My question is, are all the Lucia inks the same. For example, are the inks in pfi 1700's in whatever colour, the same as the lucia ink colour in say, pfi 701 or pfi 1100 ? Thanks

I always look for great deals. Bought a brand new Canon Pro-4100s for $500 which i love, and now a Canon 1000 used for $100 Both from Offerup. Question.. The 1000 he said works but has no ink, it has all the carts just empty. What would be the first thing i should do? Value any advice and help your able to give. :)

hey Jose! I have a specific question. I have a canon pro-300 that I only use for black and white. So I don't have color cartuches, only the ones for black and white. But when I print on Matte paper, the results have a strong purple tone. Is the printer doing some kind of color correction when printing on Matte? Is it okey to only have the black and white cartuches? I've been told that is not safe

One of your best videos ever !! Would printing a 4 x 6 image of a test image daily qualify the need to print daily? Would you consider the cost of ink per ml for the 1000 vs the 200 or 300 a significant advantage? If the answer is yes to these questions is yes and I can get a "reasonable" price would buying a Pro 1000 make sense?

From what I've read, it would cut the large cleaning cycles, but you'd still do the lowest level of cleaning cycle whether you print or not. Personally, for me, I cannot understand why anyone who wasn't planning to work it hard every day would buy one today when the Epson P900 exists.

The canon is not the only 17inch printer with them features. The Epson p5000 can also internal colour calibrate to match other p5000s, Has 5 zones you can clean separately. A vacuum for paper. Has a great in-built roller & cutter. Internal pintless nozzle check I set mine to check every 24hours a simple printed nozzle check every 2 weeks to keep the printer healthy recommended by the Epson engineer I bought mine from ,personally I would recommend you you print regularly.

I have have a PRO-1000. I haven't done much printing with it, but I have Qimage Ultimate print a half purge sheet every 23 hours and I rarely get a clean cycle. It just prints beautifully when I do need it. Pulls the paper in and prints immediately. I am building my printing skills and hope to sell some of my photography and photography art. Thanks Jose for lending us your knowledge and time.

I own the Pro 100 for about 5 years now. Always turned it off & try to print something at least every 2 weeks or so. Turn on, = huge cleaning cycle. Hit print, = another big deal before sucking in the paper & printing. The only time I had some not matching issues is when I didn't recalibrate my monitor for some lengthy time like 6 months or so. In the last month or two, I finally just left my printer on & those lengthy purge cycles are gone. Go have no reason to print everyday but maybe one 4"x6" test print that Jose provided the link to years back would do.

@@thomastuorto9929 I have the purge job scheduled and each day it prints a minimal half page pattern on plain office copy paper. I set Qimage to print a glossy and Matte on copy paper on alternate days. When the papers are done I turn them over and put them back in the upper page feed. When those are done I will print on the back. It's nice to have the printer suck the page in, no fuss, no clogs ever.

Hello Jose, hope you are doing well! I have a question about the Pro 1000, and the replacement of the print head. From reading reviews and such, consensus seems to be that one can count on having to replace the print head every 3 years, give or take, if you print regularly. Now, what I haven't found is information on how much ink it takes to replace the printhead. I wouldn't think it would have to do a complete purge of the ink cartridges, but its would have to fill up the new head, purge some air, plus the regular nozzle check and print head alignments. We know that to fill the complete system brand new, it takes about half of an 80ml cartridge, but any educated guesses on what the changing of the printhead takes? Is there any truth to something I heard, that the printhead on the P900 does not use the same technology as the Pro 1000 (thermal) so its not prone to have to be replaced at the same frequency? Much obliged!Much obliged!

That is a hard one to answer. Theoretically what it does when you set your screen for a Print Head replacement is to move the Print Head assembly to the center and ALLOW you to unlock it. So theoretically unless I am completely wrong, all it needs to do is to charge the internal 12 dampers with ink and expel a bit of it as waste. How much does that use? No idea.

@@cheo1949 cheers Jose, I chatted wit Keith Cooper, and he had heard a sum of 10ml, but he couldn't say with certainty. Im assuming 10 ml per cartridge.
