As you've clearly demonstrated here it's important that when you let your application control colour management, you ensure you deactivate the printer driver or the result is double profiling. I'm betting many newcomers testing out ICC profiles with 3rd party papers for the first time forget to do this. Keep up the excellent work Jose 😊

Hello José, i'm a foto art student and we struggle in our classroom with print quality problems since we moved from Epson to Canon. We also have mac & pc's with Camera Raw & photoshop. At this moment we see to much differences between prints coming from Mac or PS and even differences between 2 printers. I already saw you 2 youtube post (Certify your CANON IPF PRO 1000 printer before you do anything else! & You Certified your CANON IPF PRO 1000 - Now What?) who were a big help. So, first of all, i will buy some canon paper, check the calibration, certify our printers & calibrate the monitors. We have lots of Epson paper in stock and wonna use it on the Canon pro 1000. There are no icc profiles for epson paper on Canon. Can you advise us on the best workflow we have to follow to reach good quality prints on Epson paper with canon pro 1000 printer. Thanks in Advanced.

Short answer is you would need custom icc profiles to use EPSON papers on a CANON printer.

Thanks José, that was what I somewhere expected. Where can I download the testsheet that you use so I can use it as reference and for canon paper calibration ?

José, a Canon guy told me that we have to select the paper type manually on the pro 1000 when we use "printer manage colors", is that correct? I would expect that when we select a canon paper type in photoshop, the driver sends this info to the printer.

When you select in Photoshop you basically are accessing the driver itself. Photoshop cannot set anything when you go to the printing module and you click on the settings you're basically in the actual driver. Either way you chose to choose a paper you are basically doing it inside the driver

I have around 150 foot Epson paper on rolls and now will be using it in my Canon Pro 1000 but Epson won't give out their Icc profiles should I just use what ever is close on Canon paper Icc profiles. Thanks

Nope. EPSON will not be in business supporting other brands of printers. You will need a custom profile. Did you know I run a Custom profile service? jtoolman-custom-inkjet-paper-profiles.homestead.com/My-Inkjet-Printing-and-Reflling-Pages.html

I'm on a Mac and I can't get that same properties menu to come up. What am I doing wrong?

On Mac, on color management tab when both ColorSync and Canon manage are grey, driver does not manage the printer. In Lightroom color management tab is automatically greyed and you choose all from Lightroom print menu

It is a simple operation done complete from the printer's screen! No need for a video as you would see nothing. It all takes place inside the PRO-1000
