Thank you Peter!!!! I have been having fun with this camera body and my lenses but what I really wanted this for is macro. This is an amazing little camera body and the auto focus is next level - even for macro LOL. The eye AF - WOW.. Thank you Peter. 🙏🙏🤗🤗💖💖

Looks good John - the 500 certainly provided some nice images. Canon Australia got in touch this week and are going to give me an R7 to review (hopefully for a couple of weeks). Not sure what lens they’re giving me yet? Probably a wide angle haha! Wouldn’t that be a waste. Fingers crossed for a 100-500mm 👍🙏

Adrian, if they don't send the 100-500, I would rent one for a couple of days. This little body is amazing for birding, macro (what I really wanted it for) and I think probably astro on a telescope which I am going to try later this month. I look forward to your captures with the little beast - and it is so inexpensive too!!! Thank you Adrian. 🙏🙏💖💖🤗🤗

Amazing combo John! Such incredible detail and the Canon colors 😍!!! I think I could handhold that lens on the R7, cause you know, being a cyclist, that upper body strength 💪😂😂

😂😂 Bill - I use a gimbal almost always with this lens and even prefer it with the Sigma!!! Well, when you come to visit, you can take the lens out and hand hold all day long!!! It kill me when I see guys out there walking with one of these like it is no big deal. I wouldn't be able to move my arms the next day. 🙏🙏🤗🤗💖💖

🙂 Excellent thanks for the video. I have been trying my mates R7 with my 500 f4 mk1 and have compared it to the 5dsr what was interesting is how good the 5dsr is when cropped to the same size. Could not see much if any difference. But the focusing is on another level and smaller files witch makes lightroom happy 🙂 and all the others things that come with a lot newer camera so I am looking forward to getting the R7👍

Jamie - the auto focus and the EVF are AMAZING. I never use the backscreen except for diving into the menus (old school), and I am lost on a DSLR these days without the EVF. And the autofocus...... WOW O WOW with this camera. Coming from the world of Nikon, I switched to Canon with the R5 (M50 actually) and was just blown away buy how far the tech had come. This body in my opinion is even better than the R5 in many ways. Thank you Jamie!! 🙏🙏🤗🤗💖💖

Interesting video, what was it like with the big prime in terms of handling ? I have an old EF400 f/2.8 which I use with my 7D mark ii and I wonder how such a small camera would handle with a Great White Thanks Noel

Hi Noel!!! No matter what camera I put this lens on, I use the gimbal. It is only a little lighter than the R5 and it balances well on the gimbal. I have not tried to hand hold this - just too much for me and I am never happy with my shots when I hand hold. That is the best answer I can give. Thank you Noel!!! 💖💖🤗🤗🙏🙏

Carlos, thank you thank you. Different lens are for different things - a long lens for birding and short wide lens for landscapes. A fast shutter speed freezes the action but requires more light to expose properly. ISO is a "light volume" to help that but as you go higher and higher, it gets noisy or grainy. LOL, it all works together and after a while, it becomes second nature. Thank you, thank you Carlos!!! 🤗🤗🙏🙏💖💖

Hey, thank you for the great video captain. I was recently looking at a copy of the canon ef 500 f4 is mark 1 for my R5. I didn't pull the trigger because I wasn't sure how an older lens would behave on the R5. I like to shoot birds in flight and fast action. Do you have any issues with the autofocus or frame rate with your R5 or R7 when using the 500? Your shots with the R7 setup are amazing. How is your keeper rate?

David, the autofocus is spot on and even with the 1.4 tele, it is still spot on..... on both the R5 and R7. My old EF version one of the 100-400 is also really awesome. With all the old lenses adapted and even third party Sigmas, the autosensor

Nice one sir! I got you and the feeling of this lens!! Just one question do you ever have trouble with H or H+ flashing when you shoot in mechanical shutter ? I use this lens on my R6 body and I have trouble with my H+ icons on the screen is blinking,I heard from some opinions that EF 500 mki couldn’t handle 12fps as in R6. Would it be ever same happen on your R7 or R5 ?

Ziljihanbr Piercer!!! I was just out shooting this today and comparing it to the Nikon Z9 and adapted Nikon 500 F4. I have not had any problems on either my R5 or R7 even with a tele. The ONLY problems I have had with an older lens on the R7 is the original 100-400 in mechanical mode. I found that if I shoot in a slower shutter setting, not the fastest, the problem went away. And since Canon has a severe rolling shutter at higher frame rates, that was minimized as well. 🙏💖🤗

the 70-200mm 2.8L IS USM II or III are awesome using the Canon 2X TeleConverter III .....I use it on a Canon R1 and the 1DX MK III and the Images are amazingly sharp .....

Hi John, I just got this lens with the R7. I get the full 15fps in mechanical with servo tracking, but only about 10 fps in electronic. It makes no sense to me. Why would electronic be slower ? Is it the case with you too? In one shot AF and MF I can get the full 30 fps Thanks a lot !

Hi Simon Thibodeau!! I have to say that I have no idea and you are correct - it makes no sense. After using my old D800 recently at a blazing 4 FPS, I went back to my R7. I have it in mechanical mode and sometimes in electronic. I have not counted the FPS and to tell you the truth, most of the time I put it in the lowest continuous - too many files to go through. I usually shoot in short bursts and pick the best of the bunch...... unless tracking a dragonfly in flight. I wish I had an answer for you - electronic should be faster for sure. 🙏💖🤗

You have to give that rf100-400mm a try on the R7. 160 to 640mm of goodness! It weighs less than my rf100mm macro lens and is inexpensive!

Hi Kevin!!! Well if you can afford it, go with the Canon 100-500 RF. It is actually more than 3Xs the price of the Sigma. You will get more tack sharp shots....... but you dont need 30 tack sharp shots if you are only going to share one. Just my opinion. Just keep in mind that this is adapted to this camera body and if you can afford it, get the Canon one. Most will go with the Sigma because of the price. 💖💖🙏🙏🤗🤗

The RF 100-500mm with the R7 is a deadly comb. Light enough to hand hold easily, it’s sharp lens.

James - I think if you used the R7 for a while, you would be blown away in the upgraded tech. The video, the autofocus..... it is all just so far ahead of what Nikon has or is putting out - in my opinion. You are welcome to take my gear and play with it while selling or trading yours. You will not be disappointed. The older gear was great and can still take great photos, but the new tech is simply superior at what it does. Plus with a larger sensor, what more to crop into. The auto focus compared to the D500 or Z6 - light years beyond and accurate. Until you try it, it is hard to comprehend how much better it is. Once you use it, you will have trouble going back....... 🤗🤗💖💖🙏🙏

My R7 will not arrive...so I bought an R6 😉😊.
