my aunt who lives LA California told me that they have to drive more than an hour just so they can go to the gurudawara which doesn't affiliate itself with these radicals. It's a shame to see how our faith is getting radicalised. I believe the root cause for this is illiteracy.

It can't be illiteracy. It's misinformation, or lack of proper education. Young people can get misguided by harmful political ideologies if they are not armed(properly educated) to deal with it. Others are often just misinformed.

The young Sikhs being transported in bulks with barely legal college applications is one of the factors I presume. Most don't pursue higher education.. Get in touch with these hooligans and then parrot the same brain washed lines. So instead of 80s era Khalistanis, you'd get these young uneducated technically Indian fools who'd be parroting these lines. I guess that's why Australia has stopped accepting applicants from many colleges.. All exclusively from Punjab it seems.

Surely not illiteracy, but radical ideology of a handful influential Sikhs being promoted after taking control of Gurudwaras.... Sad affair, my relatives in US tell me that earlier they used to visit Gurudwara with reverence and felt no different from Sikh brethren, but now it is very difficult to find a Gurudwara which is not under Control of Khalistanis...

I am ashamed at the the behaviour of my fellow Sikhs who have become so full of hate that they do not recognize how linked and connected Sikhs are to the Indian identity... Radicalism can happen in any religion but it is so sad to see this in one that preaches equality and unity as one of its core tenets... I am a Sikh as much as an Indian living in Canada and those identities are both equally close to who I am. These people do not represent the majority of Sikhs who denounce violence and feel as Indian and patriotic as anyone who loves their country. Any political party, any right wing leader, and ideology cannot separate that Sikhs have been linked with India since its inception. Our freedom fighters who were Sikh would be saddened to see this divide and hatred. Please remember that this not all of the Sikhs in Canada and many support the foundation of India itself like secularism, democracy, unity, and freedom of religion which we hold dear.

Canada is only good in one thing - projecting itself as a liberal, caring and democratic country. I have lived in both US and Canada. Canada is good at projecting itself as an ideal world - caring people, society, tolerant and peaceful. To make this stronger, they would drag US in this. If you talk with Canadians, it would feel like everyone in US carries a gun like Rambo and uncivilized. On the contrary, I find average Americans to be more polite than an average Canadian. I have found many white Canadians to be extremely rude and racist, when compared to average Americans. One another thing Canada is good at is hiding its negatives. In US, every crime amplifies and comes out bigger in media. In Canada, its generally swept quietly under the carpet. So you would think crime doesn't exist in Canada, purely due to perception. AI 182 is living example of it.

It appears Canada has way more resources than its population needs. So it may look to be outwardly a developed country. But, there is little rule of law and no consequence management of a developed democratic nation. Quite a shame.

It's not about rule of law. Canada is so much diverse (in terms of people belonging to different ethnic groups) that most non-sikhs are completely indifferent to what's happening with this community. Even their law enforcement agencies are not well versed with what's happening with this community. Most of them view it as a local community problem where some people are angry with the Indian government. And since these guys are very smart as to not cause any physical injuries to anyone, for the police there is no law broken and hence no action required. Every summer you'll see people from different ethnic group protest against the government in their home country. These include Hong Kongs, Chinese, Afghans, Palestinians, etc. The government just lets them protest. These Khalistanis are also looked upon as one of them. TBH, literally no one bats an eye to these protests. People just ignore their presence and move on with their lives.

most of them have a very shallow understanding about india. They think sikhs form majority in India. Sikhs are also active in politics and khalistanis are on a mission mode where as rest of the Indians are confused, lazy self centered and delusional.

I see a lot of similarities between Rahul Gandhi and Justin Trudeau: Both Justin Trudeau and Rahul Gandhi come from families with a strong political lineage as they are descendants of former Prime Ministers. Both Trudeau and Gandhi have been considered youthful leaders within their respective political parties. Both leaders are known for their charismatic woke personalities and have a significant following among their party members and supporters. They have been able to connect with younger audiences. Trudeau runs the Trudeau Foundation, while Rahul Gandhi runs The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. They both hold Bachelor's degrees in arts and literature. Trudeau promotes multiculturalism and open immigration in Canada, while Rahul advocates for secularism and refugees from neighboring countries. Canada is going through a tough time right now. The healthcare system is struggling, food costs are rising, real estate prices are going up, and there has been an increase in violent crimes and drug overdoses lately. We have seen Liberals in Canada and the Congress in India protecting minority extremism in their countries. Additionally, both parties target majoritarianism in their respective countries.

If Indian subcontinent follows rest of modern world, then countries should be created on basis of nationalities after the fall of British empire and modern Indian and Pakistan state empires who are based on Islam and hindusim. The base of India and Pakistan is religious hatred and bigotry. A country should be based on nationality like Bangladesh or countries in Europe but India is based on Hinduism. Bengali Hindus should join the Bangla nation state Bangladesh under their own conditions like great autonomy, 50% reservations for Hindus in parliament and army regardless the population size of Hindu and Muslims bengalis. But Bengali Hindus would never leave india because they support religion over bangla identity unlike bangla Muslims who prefer their national bangla identity over their religious identity and left Pakistan for the sake of bangla nation. Baluch nation been trying for the same. Europe did same. Nations in Yugoslavia did same. Catalonia in Spain and Kosov in Serbia, Kurdish in Turkey, Kashmiri Punjabi nagas and all North eastern nations in the fake union of India been trying for the same. Contrary to rest of the world, Indian Hindus don't care about their national identity but religious identity. That's why india is p*oor and Ba*ckward and would always continue to do so, because it's not a nation state but a multinational state (fake union of nations) and multinational states can never prosper because they would always be busy fixing their internal problems and their whole resources and energy would be wasted to keep the fake country united rather than expending the same on prosperity. Canada, on the outside, looks united, but is a deeply divided society within where everyone lives in their own community. There are communities of Sikhs, Indians, Chinese, Ukrainians, Italians etc etc. So whenever a tragedy takes place it is up to the respective community to fight for justice. Don't expect others to show any concerns. Take the example of Ukrainian passenger aircraft that was shot by Iranian missile. The people from the Ukrainians and Iranian community fought tooth and nail for a proper investigation. Moral of the story, Canada has many countries within a country, and every 'country' has to stand up for its rights and justice.

Shekarji, you should talk more about this at a TVO panel. BTW, Liberal Party of Canada is in alliance with NDP. As long as Jagmeet Singh leads that party, the Khalistani elements will be tolerated. Besides Khalistanis are essentially Jat supremacists (they think Jats are above every other "Pajeets"/Indian). Outside Punjab, Canada is probably the only place where you will find plenty of Ravidasi gurudwara. You don't find such segregation of Gurudwaras by caste in India.

I was a regular visitor of Gurudwaras in California. I dont go anymore. I feel guru nanak ji preachings over shadowing with something negative. There should not be negative energy at places of worship. Temples or Gurudwaras or Church or Mosque should not be a place of hate. It's not good.

I stand vindicated . Born in 90’s in Haryana I have seen many of my sikh friends expressing khalistani mentality once they turn adolescents. In order to satiate their ego they let go sanity. Everybody talks about 1984 but no one wants to read that khalistani killed bus passengers in Haryana for being hindus. I respect sikhism . I am grateful that when I was born, a sikh friend of my uncle gave his blood to my mother as she was deficient of it.

Yes. The issue with white Canadians is though they consider them to be very tolerant and civilized. They always make uncalled insults to Americans and say we are so nice, caring and civilized community. I have lived i both US and Canada, and can say white Americans are much better than white Canadians. In fact, US would stand for its naturalized citizens than Canada.

A country is only as civilised as its people. I have to say this sikh vote bank politics is a ticking time bomb.

As a Punjabi Hindu I am deeply upset and angered by the actions of these Khalistani Extremists. I never really liked Indira Gandhi and did not agree with her approach to attacking Harmandir Sahib in the manner that she ordered and did not agree with Rajiv Gandhi’s lack of action and incitement which resulted in the deaths of many more innocent Sikhs especially in Delhi. Having said all this I am deeply angered by the actions of these Khalistani Extremists. This has been building up over the past 20-25 years. As a Punjabi Hindu living and growing up in the UK I have seen first hand how several Grurudwaras have been overtaken by Khalistani Extremists. Once they take over, similar to Islamic Extremists they started to preach hatred against India and Hindus and brainwash young people by spreading fake stories and lies about how Sikhs are slaves in India and how Hindus treat them badly, about how Hindus target Sikhs, how Hindus have infiltrated Sikhs to change their identity and how all the attacks agains Hindus in Punjab and Haryana and the Air India Bombing were carried out by Hindus. All absolute utter nonsense! They never acknowledge or explain why Bhindranwale and his men armed themselves and stayed in a religious complex much like Islamic Terrorists? As a result of all this all Sikhs abroad in the US Canada and UK especially those aged between 13 and 50 have been brainwashed to hate Hindus and India and there is nothing anyone can do about this sad it’s too late and it’s a vicious cycle. Many Khalistanis hold these talks at Gurudwaras and Universities and Community events so that they can “spread their message”. In fact even during wedding in Gurudwaras I have seen several times people make anti India speeches and speeches about Khalistan, and distribute leaflets and booklets. Unfortunately I stopped going to Gurudwaras when I heard speeches against Hindus and Hindu gods which was the final straw for me. It was extremely hurtful. I have never heard a Hindu make any negative remarks about Sikhs or Sikhi yet I have seen and heard several times these Khalistanis make horrendous remarks about Hindus, Hindu Gods and India. On the whole I believe most Sikhs are very nice caring and not anti India hence why I now separate the two. I believe there are true Sikhs and then there are Khalistani Extremists who are like all other extremists and some of them are involved in terrorists activities like attacking, hurting and killing people. What we need now is more normal ordinary Sikhs to come forward and condemn these Khalistani Extremists but the problem is many ordinary Sikhs are afraid to do this as they too are intimidated or threatened if they speak out.

The average Canadian probably doesn’t even know about this parade that happened in Brampton. I bet you if you interview 100 non-Sikhs in Brampton, less than 5 of them will be aware about this display, and even then they won’t know the real story behind it. The reason for this ignorance is that because Canada has so many immigrants from all over the world, that these types of cultural programs happen regularly all the time throughout the year. It’s genuinely hard for regular Canadians to keep track of all of them. I can guarantee you that even the elected politicians wouldn’t have realized that such a parade took place. They have other important things to do And secondly, they generally allow such activities in the name of “multiculturalism” and “freedom of expression”.

See it is not the job of avg Canadian or politicians to track such events and protest , it is a matter of national security for Canadian police and security agency, who have never seen the potential harm in nurturing these sentiments among Canadian society . Giving radical elements free hand in the name of "multiculturalism" and "democracy" is just looking for an excuse to justify these excesses as evident from the instance of Air India bombings. That 's great tbh . Resentment towards Sikhs means another golden chance to play victim card for life . But again because I understand human behavior i can predict that people/leaders will try appeasement to keep the clam but yeah there is a breaking point to everything including how much are people willing to put up with if 2% of India's population will become a constant sore point i know appeasement will also break.. may be in the long-term things don't work as they do in short therm

I live in Toronto! I’m a Muslim! I am stunned! I am shocked this was allowed! Imagine a Muslim group holding such a rally for those who killed Benazir Bhutto or Anwar Sadat! The Canadian riot police would be dispatched to violently arrest the crowd and the leaders of the rally would be thrown in prison for decades!

I live in brampton. Yes there are khalistanis everywhere. Most of then came from india in the 1980s so their idea of india is 40 years old. Also canadians in general don't care about any of this. To most canadians south Asians are basically one and the same and the internal conflicts we have is just tribal stuff.

@Origin of a**hole species soft economic power is the way to go. India needs to make it known to the Canadian government that their business and commercial interests are at risk if they do not take control of the situation. But first india needs to grow its national GDP from its current $3.7 trillion to around $8 trillion. Once this is done, then india will have a lot more economic soft power to leverage agianst canada.

Canadians in general don't care about any of this is an excuse. You can't call yourself a flagbearer of equality and democracy when you follow none of those yourself. Then to have the audacity to preach to the world is the reason the rest of the world would rather trust dictators like in Russia and China than the so-called "liberal democracies" of the West. It is a sad state of affairs in Canada. One doesn't expect so-called developed countries to give space to radical elements that are working against a nation. There is a rise in pro-Khalistan activities in Canada, Australia & UK in the last two years. It seems there is a geopolitical strategy behind it. The Western world wants to have the upper hand on the negotiating tables with India for the future. As a Sikh who lives in Punjab with many relatives & friends in Canada, I can this for sure that there is none who wants Khalistan. But Many Gurudwaras in Canada have photos of Bhindrawale & other extremists. They are the centre of politics and not religion. Canada should wake up before it is too late and there will be more trouble for them than for us.

Btw the series of cascading errors made by CSIS & RCMP before the kanishka bombing resembled the first scene of the movie 'Black Friday '

Almost feels like Canadian authorities were involved in bombing of that aircraft.

The reason behind Sikh community's ascent in Canada is primarily due to agriculture..... How? - all most all the lentils in USA is imported from Canada grown by Sikh farmers. Canada's food security is ensured by Sikh farm owners. They get good supply of uneducated Punjabi Sikhs to work in farm lands and live in horrible conditions. They're in worse conditions than the illegal immigrants from Mexico the menial labourers in USA. One doesn't see such people in big cities. But everywhere in every so called developed country, such labour forces are there. The Sikh mafia on one hand exploits the labourers and on the other hand is hand in hand with the ruling elites. Indian farm laws were vehemently opposed by Canadian Sikh farmer mafia to prevent India becoming self sufficient in Legumes and Lentils. As on date India imports a lot of lentils/legumes grown in Canada in addition to Sunflower.

I am a Sikh living in Brampton. 90% of us don't even know this happened. Just focusing on our family and work. Ask any random Indian here, what do they do on a weekday, they will say "work the whole day". What do you do on weekend "household chores". Nothing more, nothing less. I am not a supporter of Indira Gandhi or Modi, but this is totally tasteless.
