I just asked Maggie the samething, I kind of figured she's resting I mean she is double almost the age of Gypsy. Gosh it would be awful for anything to happen to her I hate it. I still can't watch the Boon or boss video it hurts my heart way to much. These are not my pets nor will I ever meet them and I cried a week over Sherni 😭 😪 😢. I know you all do your best with the fur working babies but sometimes things happen out of our control and it's really hard to deal with. I hope all is having a bright beautiful 2024 🎉🎉🎉❤❤💙💙🐕🦮🐕‍🦺🐾🐾🐾🐾 I really don't like that I don't have a black pup on here.

I'm from Scotland and was curious as to whether you guys have badgers over there in the states....now I learn that you do. We have tons of them here...never knew they could be trained. My neighbour used to have lots of chickens then two badgers came by one night and attacked them...they didn't kill them but a few nights later they came back...I heard the noise but thought it was cats fighting until I saw them running by my house. My neighbour's entire flock was murdered that night. Very sad. I had never seen them so close unless they were road kill. Beautiful animals and I am now intrigued as to how they would do as trained rat catchers haha.

European badgers have been trained to hunt rats and rabbits similar to American badgers. There's stories of both types of badgers partnering with canids, American badgers with coyotes. European badgers with foxes and raccoon dogs. Taking advantage of each others' strengths and weaknesses in the same way Joseph is hoping to with his dogs and a badger.@@nuancematters

I hunted rodents with an Australian Sheppard when I was a kid. There's something magical about partnering with an animal like that. You both work as a team. Each knows the other's part. There's an awareness between dog and human. She knew when I was making my move and where the mice/rats were coming from. We kept in constant communication and understood each other completely. I miss that dog so much. Now I've got a Jack Russell with ZERO prey drive. I've never seen anything like it in my life. There's a colony of packrats who've set up a tunnel system right under her feet in the dog run and she couldn't care less. One pops it's head up, they check each other out, then the rat pops back down and she's unfazed. The positive is that she's friendly with the cats, so there is that. She's pretty much useless as far as 'dog things' go, but my heart's still going to rip in half when she's gone. Sweetest pup I've ever had.

If you do manage to get a license to own and work with Badgers, it would be FASCINATING! We would stand to learn so so much about them and I would love to see that happen so best of luck. Where my grandmother is from in Wicklow Ireland, they had a Glen of Imaal Terrier. They are a short broad powerful dog, used to dig out badgers. They are still around. I'd imagine they would outperform a badger. They are quiet and very powerful, not fast, but they will dig faster than most and would be a good addition to a team.

Usually when u see a bad pit bull it’s due to the owner failing to train the dog or they want it to be mean to protect there stuff and ends up getting loose at some point

Bindi is also both well trained, and get's plenty of small things to sate her killing instinct. Can't say I'd see her unaliving a neighbor kid.

This reminded me of the English bloke who trained foxes to hunt rats. I'd love to see it if you went ahead with it.

If you get a badger you can be the Mustelid Man! Next up we need an excuse for a trained wolverine and maybe a yellow-throated marten, or three. I think you're right, a badger would be an amazing addition.

Badgers and coyotes are often seen working together as they work in a similar fashion to you, your mink and your dogs. Badgers dig holes and chase critters down in the hole while coyotes wait up top for any that escape out the back door.

My mother had a pet badger when she was small. I have a picture of her with it wrapped around her neck. She would shock the restaurant customers when she walked in like that. Her mom ran the restaurant. This was in the 1930s in South Dakota.
