I say its only slightly better. IW is a 8 and Endgame is a 7.5

Buzz and marketing around Dune 2 is on another level, I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually passes 1 billion mark. I mean aquaman and barbie did it

It's always good to manage one's expectations about one thing doing what others did because of a one or two similar indicators but if a lot of things are lining up it definitely has the potential. Having not seen Dune 2 yet, I can't speak to the popcorn-iness, but it definitely is carrying a lot of hype and so many other movies are not.

Idk my brother was bored by the 1st movie and my nephews who usually mention new movies didn’t really mention it. I think people thinking it’s that popular is biased kind of. People think it’s big because we barely even have non-superhero or pre-existing franchise movies that have this much scale

@@theeighthOG definitely not for everyone, but I also think there's nearly $3B worth of box office to go around in the space of its run, so for those who are interested, get dragged along, get converted because of the hype and the more action oriented pace, and do repeat viewings, I think it can eke out $1B which may equate to 1/3rd of the movie going audience interest. It's definitely no guarantee though

TBH, to see Dune part 2 to hit the billion dollar mark would be a dream come true. But to be realistic, it might not happen. For me, the most important thing that people [especially for people who have never heard of this universe before], are embracing it and appreciating it just like they did with the first LOTR: FOTR and how they wanted more of LOTR... or in this case.

Dune 2 is the first movie I’ve seen in the theaters since before covid. Bought a projector during covid and haven’t felt the need until now.

What I hated about last season of GoT is that most characters,especially Daeneris and Aria,from the season 1,their main goal is to kill Cercei.and then,when they are all so close,none of them even tried.Deaneris went after the people (which she knew from the beginning that Cercie doesn't care for at all)but nevet went to burn her..Aria's ending was especially stupid.While she was on the stairs ,she changed her mind and went to explore the unknown lsnds..What???

John... John. Let's not pretend that Man of Steel was the first movie EVER to have that kind of father/son scene. It's been done thousands of times.

If you've read Chricton's Jurassic Park, and see the movie through that sense, it kind of is sci-fi, if not sci-fi-tinted horror.

I completely agree getting "too inside baseball" with Superman would be a mistake, but I don't think Kindom Come is necessarily that. At the heart of it you kinda have a fairly recognizable DC universe, and the concept of heroes existing but being too militant is a lot more relatable now with people understanding what anti-heroes are, seeing political divides in superhero communities, etc. It can definitely go off the rails in the hands of a lesser filmmaker, but Gunn is good enough by far to weave a main dramatic element through an action romp. Also, he's wise enough to adapt as needed, so it doesn't need to be weighed down with X heroes' retirement and all of that; rather we can get to the same point by having the superheroics falling under a quasi-corporate/governmental agency's purview while the elder statesmen are on a long term mission, lost in another dimension or whatever. Not that it should be this, but there are ways to literally show a harsh hero community needing to be reigned back in and a symbol of hope returning to try to lead by example.

Except for the ending.She should have killed Cercei,like she planned from episode one.

I feel like that was the point in GOT. To have tragic endings for all the characters in the forefront. Even John Snow had a somewhat tragic ending. I don't think any character got what they wanted in the end.

all of them got disney endings except dany. bran is king. tyrion hand of king. jon lived in real north as always desired. sansa queen in the north. arya travelling. jaime and cersei fall in one anothers arms. only dany got beyond shafted. a bit grim really

dune 2 could have some legs especially with imax showings i think many folks want to see dune 2 in the best format and experience possible the studios should have had more 70mm imax sets available i would love to see dune 1 and 2 back to back in 70mm and I am sure I am not the only one i am not impressed with universal warner and legendarys foresight and vision these studios should have been more prepared for the demand these executives need the spice more than the spacing guild especially after the streaming debacle with dune 1

Godzilla Minus one didn't make it as much because they did not show the movie in most Asian countries.. which I don't know the reason, but thats a big L of a move

The audacity? Opened our eyes? John, come on man I love ya but Daenery’s turn wasn’t developed very well at all in the show. Most people agree on the fact that it came out of no where when she went nuts in the second to last episode. She hears bells and then goes on a murderous rampage. But you’re right there were hints planted. Not nearly enough in my opinion to justify what she did though. Anyways good stream as always.

​@@Silentwraith365speaking as someone who thinks the season was rushed, I think that the "suddenness" of Dani's turn people feel is more a symptom of the overall feel like the season could have used 2 more episodes to let all the plots breathe, and less about the fact she was going to go full crazy. It was a trait of Targearians, it was hinted at early, it escalated along the way as she got more cruel with people, and it makes sense she would flip and go on a murder spree. As viewers it just breaks our internal logic about a character we had sympathy for and felt was justified in many things to feel like it isn't something she/he/they/it/ would do. One more episode showing the build of paranoia, anger, etc. before the full break might have made it more seamless for people to reckon with, but as you said, they hinted along the way she'd Crack. So yeah, the "suddenness" can be jarring while all the same it makes complete sense she'd end up there.

The annoying thing is people keep comparing this with Oppenheimer. They are night and day by comparison. Nothing alike at all. Why are we doing this? Because we think the directors are similar? No they are not. They just happen to be key parts of pop culture conversations these days. If anyone else did Oppenheimer, there wouldn’t be a single comparison, so please, let’s stop this nonsense and compare Dune with other epic sci-fi tales and not the true life biopic of the man who invented the atomic bomb.
