Fields is my guy. I love him in Chicago. But dang, Wiliiams has an arm. He makes it look easy. Still, I would rather trade my #1 pick, get MHJ and a few other picks to bolster the team for a Playoff Run.

i concur.... i'm also leaning towards keeping Fields, swap picks+ with Commanders, and then draft Harrison Jr at #2 pick... i'm sure the Bears can squeeze the Commanders for more players/picks... OR, the Bears could also trade Fields and get a MASSIVE haul in return, then draft Williams... either way, the Bears have a GOOD "problem" on their hands

He goes thru progressions as well. And throwing mechanics are better than Justin. Never had an onslaught of 5star receivers either. Caleb is a better Qb hands down. Justin is better athletically. These two quarterbacks are superior, dual threat clones. These two, along with Lamar Jackson and Cam Newton, are my favorite all-time quarterbacks (I am not a youngster). The only differences are that Caleb Williams is a little smaller and can be caught from behind by really fast bruthas...no one ever catches Justin Fields from behind. No one. Also, Justin led Ohio State to two CFP Playoffs and a Championship game...Caleb did not accomplish that but he won his Heisman Trophy in dominant fashion.

  • @deshawnthomas

Who cares about being caught from behind when you want you QB to win by pushing the ball down the field... evading in the pocket and extending the play to throw is more valuable than being dual threat. Until the day the let defenders line up from BEHIND the QB, scrambling ability is second to being able to dice up a defense with your arm.

Williams does make more miracle off platform throws, but Fields is clearly more athletic. I also think Luke Getsy is horrible and I could call better plays. It’s definitely a tough decision. There’s a total difference in these two, JF relying on arm strength, he has a fast ball stronger arm which can get him in trouble thinking he can throw in any window with a fast ball. His deep ball he holds on waiting for his Wr to out run the db. But as far as being a runner, he has a madden score of 100. Better than anyone in this era. His only problem and still his problem is he hold the ball to long thinking he can get it to the wideout fast having no ball placement. Caleb Williams arm strength is not his thing. He has perfect ball placement. He makes the wideout open with his ball placement. I think he needs fast change of direction receivers. Like the Chiefs qb had. Guys that change of direction and chase the ball placement down. Special throws, but are they dangerous throws at the NFL level. He throws a lot of semi floating balls. Nothing with a zip like JF. Caleb can also run but nowhere near like JF. You gotta get JF windows to throw through. Meaning straight line throws. So thinking about this the Bears should trade that pick and build around Justin. Get him a line that will allow him to use that fast ball by giving him time. His deep is nice so get him guys that can go get the ball. Give home crossing routes as he rolls out. You gotta build an offense for him so he can operate but it starts up front. Caleb throws make wonder if it works in NFL. Keep JF!!!!!

Even the chiefs wanted Paxton Lynch, though the broncos got him first which would have lead to them not getting Chris jones OR mahomes. As a starter at Ohio State, Fields went 20-2, with only one loss in each of the 2019 and 2020 seasons, with both losses coming in the College Football Playoff1. Fields transferred from Georgia to Ohio State in January 2019, and his final statline at Georgia was 12 games played; 27 of 39 passing (69.2 percent) for 328 yards and four touchdowns; 42 rushes for 266 yards (6.3 yards per carry) and four touchdowns; one reception for minus-10 yards2. In two NFL seasons, Fields has recorded 4,112 passing yards, 1,1563 rushing yards, and 34 total touchdowns. He has proven himself w the bears by playng behind one of the worst line, no receivers 'till DJ moore.

The way I see it is that every play that Caleb makes I have seen Justin make a nearly identical play. I think it's not reasonable for people to call Caleb (or anyone) a "generational talent" when more than half the time he just runs around and chucks the ball and the receiver adjusts to make a fantastic catch. You can do that in college when the receivers you are throwing to are better athletes than the players defending them. Put him on an NFL team with sub average receivers, a line that can't block, and an OC who doesn't know how to call a game and we'll see how special he really is.

Caleb's receivers on majority of the plays shown here are running back to the ball to catch it or are patiently waiting for it to arrive...even the wide-open ones (not making that up, watch the video again). Fields throws some impressive dimes (NCAA and NFL) and has the arm strength to lead the receivers in stride. Caleb does have some dimes as well but nothing that makes me go "OMG". Simply put, Fields has better mechanics and like you said, does what Caleb does only better. Anyone complaining about release times most likely listens to Colin Cowherd every day waiting for the clickbait headline.

@@GregYoung If you think Justin has better mechanics than Caleb you have no right to talk. Justin has some of the worst throwing and dropback mechanics in the NFL. Slow drop back, slow release, inconsistent footwork. Plenty of instances in just these highlights where Caleb hits his backfoot and throws a dot. People here saying Justin can do everything Caleb can do are just comparing their skills. If they're extremely comparable, you always take the rookie contract reset and hope Caleb becomes MORE than Justin, because it's clear Justin will never get us a superbowl. Also, it's pretty well understood now that Justin doesn't see the field well in the NFL. Caleb will hit the open receivers, simple as that.

As for Caleb Williams, he has better pocket awareness, but I noticed when he throws the ball it seems like they take longer to get to the receiver than when Justin throws it. Clearly has a stronger arm than Caleb. Looks like fields did a good job of getting the ball out on time and quickly in college. I think we need to stop the narrative that he can’t do it and figure out how to make him do it. As a life long Bears fan I feel like this is the BEST SITUATION we've ever been in at the QB situation EVER! We get chance to either STICK WITH AN ALREADY TALENTED QB (that's been absolutely mismanaged like Cutler was) that has shown he can win and develop into something special OR... we get a chance to draft an absolute stud in Caleb Williams who by far would be the most promising draft prospect we have ever had access to drafting. There are arguments for both lanes and those have been made at nauseum!!! But you can't help but to feel hopeful with EITHER PATH. So am I Team Justin or am I Team Caleb? At this point... hard not to be Team Poles with the magic he's done in absolutely gutting and rebuilding this roster to becoming one of the most intriguing topics of discussion in the NFL. I'm all for whichever path that guy chooses cause he's earned the right of our trust in my opinion.

-This relentless touting of C J Stroud as an ideal for the Bears to strive to replicate is unrealistic. C J Stroud is the exception, not the rule for 1st year NFL quarterbacks. Caleb Williams is a million miles from a certainty as a star NFL quarterback. -Quarterbacks overwhelmingly take several years to master their craft and achieve proficiency at the NFL level. If we look at the teams that made the playoffs we can see that their starting quarterbacks have been around the league longer than 3 years-many of them much longer: Josh Allan 6 Lamar Jackson 6 Joe Flacco 16 Matt Stafford 8 Jared Goff 15 Kurt Cousins 11 (Joshua Dobbs 8) Matt Rudolf 6 (Ben Rothlisberger 16) Baker Mayfield 6 Most of these QBs were first round picks but most are not with the teams that drafted them. -Several teams have had to start 2 or more quarterbacks because of injuries. These include the Vikings, Steelers, Saints, Bengals -Jake Browning, an undrafted free agent in his 5th year, is Cincinnati Bengals’ QB after Joe Burrows suffered his second season ending injury in his 4 years in the league. Burrows was their 2020 first round pick and is the highest paid player in NFL history. --and we see what has happened to the New York Giants with Aaron Rodgers. -This proves that it is unrealistic to expect one quarterback to be a team’s all in all. -Ryan Poles stressed the importance of a team’s offensive coaching being effective at utilizing the talents of its quarterback. The obvious implication is that this was lacking with regard to Justin Fields but another reason which he stated explicitly is the frequency of QB injuries around the league. If your number 1 goes down what do you do ? What would the Texans do if CJ Stroud is injured? --And for those who tout CJ Stroud’s winning performance as predictable because he was a first round draft pick what about Brock Purdy’s winning performance with the 49ers. He was the very last player drafted in 2022.

People saying there isnt a difference are casuals. Calebs throwing motion, drop back, anticipation throws, short to mid throws are ALL crispier and better than Fields. Fields is a generational athlete and I dont doubt hell have some success in the league, but your qb needs to make the easy throws consistently which is what Fields struggles with. Fields can have highlight plays every game, but if hes not doing what he needs to do it doesnt matter. 3 years of Average qb play with Fields is something you cant hold onto, need to draft the next qb with superstar potential. Strength of schedule matters less than supporting cast. Justin almost never got pressured in college which is why his time to throw in college was 3.4 seconds and is STILL above 3 seconds in the NFL. He was also throwing to Jameson Williams, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Throwing to 4, first round WRs would have been pretty nice for Caleb Williams... Caleb's best receivers were Marvin Mims and Jordan Addison who he didn't even have this year. Caleb is also leaving college with almost double the passing attempts as Justin. 1100 vs like 620. It's not fair necessarily because Justin had the COVID year where he only played 8 games, but still, Caleb has much more experience throwing the football at a high level than Justin did coming out. Caleb accomplished everything he did throwing to worse receivers with a worse offensive line. You take the big picture and realize that Justin was just EXTREMELY raw coming out of college and probably got ruined by the Cleveland game in 2021.

Why would you start fresh when the rebuild literally started with Justin when most successful QBs are brought into a team that already is in progress.. his first year starting he was sacked the most in the nfl and ran for over 1000 yards because his best WR was Mooney… and at best WR 4’s, the #32 ranked Oline and one of the absolute worst defenses our second year safety brisker had the most sacks for the team.. this year he was given a true Wr 1 and the OLine improved immensely but still need a Another tackle and Center for our Oline to be complete. Remind you the first 4 games they had Justin playing completely different with a new throw and mechanics he even said that in the after game interview, he then was hurt for 4 games I say that to say last year we were 3-13 this year 7-9. The rebuild is almost complete you give fields MHJ or even Nabers or Ondunze to pair with dj Moore add the tackle and center and we will be a top 5 offense in production and our defense ended ranked 5th once we add another edge and replace Eddie jackson our defense will be ELITEEE plus if you use the pick on ANOTHER NEW QB YOU RESET THE REBUILD.. THE WHOLE CITY AND EVERY SINGLE PLAYER ON THE BEARS PLAYS FOR FEILDS AND WANTS FIELDS AS THEIR QB.. they praise Jalen hurts but look how awful he’s been in his last couple games even lost too The cardinals😂😂 and got knocked out first round by baker mayfield. I don’t want to hear it fields is a SUPERSTAR and will be the future of the league along with the entire bears team.. He started 2 years and both years had completely different players on offense and only 1 year has he even had a WR he can throw too. With all that being said WHY DOES EVERYONE EXPECT A 24 year OLD 2nd Year STARTER IN THE NFL TO TAKE THE WORST TEAM IN THE LEAGUE TO BEING CONTENDERS IN JUST 2 years with absolutely no help 1-2 of the years.. and everyone who knows football knows it takes time to get adjusted to the nfl especially if your first year you can’t trust not 1 WR and your 2nd year you Have literally 1 Wr you can truly trust and 1 TE.. name one QB who had what fields has had and that would be criticized the same way by the world that fields does and claim he should be traded😂😂 Watch us Keep fields and watch how he dominates the leauge next year and all the analysts will praise him and act like they knew the whole time
