I genuinely don't get why people rate it. It has nothing to do with the product, and isn't even a real guerilla. I sometimes show it when I teach marketing explaining that many people see this as one of the best adverts ever, but my students are usually as baffled as me.
@jonahmann
3 жыл бұрын
@@karlbaber5625 I can't tell if you're being sarcastic. Your criticism was that it wasn't a real gorilla? Your standards are so high, that you expect them to train an actual gorilla to play Phil Collins and give give an emotional dramatic performance on cue? You have to be trolling me right now. If you teach marketing, then you should understand how an advertisement works. It's about creating an emotional peak and anchoring that state to the brand name. "This is how you feel when you eat Cadbury chocolate." It's also extremely memorable. I still remember this advertisement 13-14 years later. You can argue that it's a kind of content marketing in that it's an amusing video in its own right that gets people sharing or mentioning it. Think "Will It Blend" for example. The most baffling thing is how an alleged "marketing teacher" doesn't understand how an advertisement works.

Wondering.. WTF? Then the incredible surprise with that iconic drum solo & this proud & cool, savvy amazing "Gorilla" smashing out that drum sound... This concept, who ever brought it up was beyond genius! I know its won many awards & accolades. But to see it after so long & out of the blue.. is well soul uplifting I am in bed poorly, British weather is true to its regard, Grey, drizzling freezing rain & skies like the apocalypse is due ... then i find this marvellous ad, Thank you, uploader, Cadbury chocolate .. which im actually eating now! I genuinely don't get why people rate it. It has nothing to do with the product, and isn't even a real guerilla. I sometimes show it when I teach marketing explaining that many people see this as one of the best adverts ever, but my students are usually as baffled as me.
@jonahmann

Whoever put this ad together is a Legend just like Phil Collins . Whenever I listen to this tune I always watch this video instead of any another video thats out there, I am sure this will go down history.
This was a classic of the advertising exec getting it right at the chef's kiss level. I hope whoever came up with this concept got paid well. Magic. UK TV has been host to some simply superb adverts over the years, they almost became an art form, especially with the B&H adverts of the late 70s and 80s that I remember being shown in cinemas.
This NEVER GETS OLD!!!
It doesn't matter how many times I watch this, it's always awesome!!!!
I LOVE IT, WHAT A GREAT COMMERICAL.
🇬🇧 Oh God! I never thought id see this again! Its sheer brilliance! Everyone here in Britain was gobsmacked when this advert was 1st shown on our TV screens Plus its the sheer disbelief of seeing this extraordinary image of a mighty king of primates just waiting... patiently ... listening to Phil Collins song... waiting .. Wondering.. And the genius minds who created this ad! 🇬🇧👧
Its 2021 who’s watching this with me?🔥🗣
The fact that this is the only music in history to ever go number 1 twice, is testament to the monumental nature of the song, aswel as the genius of the ad
