Everybody Wants To Rule The World Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Welcome to your life
There's no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you
[Chorus]
Acting on your best behaviour
Turn your back on Mother Nature
Everybody wants to rule the world
[Verse 2]
It's my own design
It's my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the
[Chorus]
Most of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world
[Bridge]
There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do, I'll be right behind you
[Chorus]
So glad we've almost made it
So sad they had to fade it
Everybody wants to rule the world
[Instrumental Interlude]
[Chorus]
I can't stand this indecision
Married with a lack of vision
Everybody wants to rule the-
Say that you'll never, never, never, never need it
One headline, why believe it?
Everybody wants to rule the world
All for freedom and for pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world

Last year my 15 year old son tried to take his own life. By the grace of god he made it. I have a video of him and his baby sister dancing to this song a few days after he got out of the hospital. This song makes me cry. I’m crying now listening to it. I just wanted to share that. My son and I share a love for 80s music and I’m so grateful my baby is still here.

Let me sum up the 80’s music this way, I’m a black guy who grew up in that era and I can’t cap, there was some great 80s rock and soft pop songs that I used to rock all the time. Tears for Fears was one of my favorite as well as Journey. I can remember cruising down Crenshaw Blvd in my 240z blasting their songs on the radio. That’s how much I loved 80’s music. Howard Jones, Madonna, Expose, etc…I could go on and on. But i can’t help waxing nostalgic when listening to these classics. I mean just the best cruising music ever. That’s what made driving so fun back then. It didn’t matter where you were going. Just pop in your favorite cassette and enjoy the ride. I’m glad I got to experience it firsthand.

I can't relate to the California part of your life, because I've never been there, but as a black man born in 1980 I grew up with this. I was exposed to this sound thanks to my mother's tastes in music, so this feel good music was felt in North Carolina. This group, and many others from the 60s, 70s, 80s and early 90s get plenty of rotation in the car to this day.

You mean the Late 20th Century (1960-1999), which tbh isn't just pop and synth. There's so much music from that time, though British pure hard rock (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, Motorhead, Fastway, and Judas Priest) is my favorite.

Ever feeling hopeless?.. I do sometimes. This song just reminds me of staying present, enjoying my day to day life, monotony, work, bills, all other gnarly stuff that I sometimes gotta force myself to do. But just look at these young lads singing their hearts out back in the 80’s, time is precious and ruthless, they are both over 60 now. Don’t forget to nourish yourself, don’t forget to take care of your loved ones, show up for yourself and everyone around you daily. If you are not happy with current situation and want to push blame to someone, I encourage you to take action and do it yourself what you expect from others - because at the end of the day it feels good. Stay blessed people and value time in present. Afternoon of 29/02/2024.

And we PROGRESS through life. Today is Ash Wednesday and we are asked to pray and fast for Ukraine, but as Jesus wanted, part of that is to pray for the Spirit to come to Putin too. We are specifically told to love and pray for our enemies. So let's for once do what our Saviour taught us. Today is the day. Carpe diem and may God be with us!

see the problem with that expression is two generations used it very differently- when one was a child of the 60s, one was talking about the baby boomers who certainly weren't born in the 60s but had come of age in the 60s and were the movers and shakers of pop culture during that time. Fast forward to the millenial generation and "child of the 90s" meant people who were born in the 90s and remembered things before the internet and smartphones became the carrot and stick of everyday existence for the planet. These were teenagers shitting on younger kids for not playing outside or with Pokemons or some shit. born in march 77, i am absolutely a child of the 80s, but i don't identify with that decade... i much more identify with the grunge alt scene of the 90s... but technically i am a child of the 80s-

@@natechenry bro Tears for Fears literally looks like an emo band. Journey also isn’t overrated, they have amazing songs such as Lights, Separate Ways, and of course Don’t Stop Believing. And nothing is more 80’s than Africa. Tears for Fears just has one song that I’ve known about. And I grew up with all the music being from 60’s blues, to 70-80’s Rock, and to 90’s Hip hop. Nothing 2000’s. Dude this isn’t as 80’s as Journey and Toto, or even Kansas and Boston (which is more so 70’s). My parents were also born in the 70’s and grew up from the late 70’s to the 80-90’s. They also agree and brought me up on Boston, Journey, Kansas, etc. and my pops grew me up on 1990’s Nas, Mobb deep, Common, AZ, DMX, Twista, Public Enemy, etc. So I’m all old school
