My only AD experience was exactly 30 years ago this month. Walked in, they had a case load of ss Rolex's, tried on a gmt 16700, made up my mind to buy it, paid, had it sized and walked out 45 min. later. I had to go back a week later to pick up the warranty paper with my name on it. I think because it was sent from Toronto (I'm in Winnipeg). No fuss, no drama, no calls, no waiting etc. A bit different today.

Seeing your giddy child like happiness with this purchase is refreshing to see. To see someone who is not mechanical or transactional about purchasing a tool, but truly respects and admires the watch for what it is, is refreshing. Congrats Adrian! I hope one day I can experience the same new watch purchase feeling.

Congratulations ! For me the nerves come from a combination of excitement of a new watch, and the realization that you are about to spend more on a watch than a lot of people would spend on a car. The mix of those emotions tear me apart. I was just in an AD looking at some Omega and IWC and my thought proces is literally "Oh crap, FANTASTIC, oh crap, would you look at that, oh crap, oh crap". Even if you can afford it, it is still a lot of money.

Congrats! I bought my Explorer at an AD in Holland last May and I totally understand your feelings and nervousness! Buying a new watch is really a special thing and good AD’s know how to handle in a situation like that! I think they try to make you addicted to the process;) Enjoy your watch!

Your enthusiasm is genuine and refreshing - - No matter how many luxury watches a collector has in their collection, one can not call themselves a watch 'enthusiast' without having genuine enthusiasm for any new luxury watch purchase. The Rolex GMT (Batman or Pepsi) is a timeless classic and deserving of respect in any collection. Bravo and CONGRATULATIONS!!!

When I saw a notification saying that you got the Batman, it put smile on my face I don't know why lol. I saw someone wearing it in the meeting and I thought it looked more dressy than sporty. Maybe because it's a very shiny watch. It definitely draws a lot of attention (something to think about when wearing it in London? lol). I think we all need one "in-your-face" Rolex watch in the collection. I am on wait-list for the new Pepsi but god knows how long that will take me...

I can relate to what you went through. I felt the same. Clammy palms and dry mouth. It's amazing how the lights make everything look so shiny in an AD. Best feeling ever. Congratulations.
