Best automobile model review I’ve seen on KZread, period. Point by point review of model changes, suspect areas, and includes tremendously helpful and useful accompanying text on the screen. Outstanding. My only negative, I could’ve done without the 1980’s Euro club music. 😂

Excellent! The best used car review I have seen.
Honest review, I have a '07' w/66K miles. Very distinct, reliable, fast, elegant, comfortable if you follow routine maintenance. It is expensive to do major repairs, but so isn't a Merc/Bimmer. This car still turns heads.

Wow. Awesome video!
Excellent man!
There is only one true advice which is relevant about the S- type- buy one made after 2004. That is it. Facelift modes are really dependable with a nice looking interior.
Late 2002 with sat nav and lots of extras as standard that really match any car today! 154k miles and still a beautiful car. Reluctant to change it.
I've worked at a JLR garage I hardly ever saw a problem on these worst failure we had was a tranmision at 100k miles problem is that these tranmision have supposedly lifetime fluid which is far from the truth you still need to change it so people neglect it hence you see transmission failure

don’t know if you’re stil active, but i’m looking at a 03 right now. $500, salvage title, but says it’s just from a deer hitting the passenger side, replaced both doors. i have a newer civic so this would just be a project/weekend car. glad to hear you didn’t see many big issues
2000 Jaguar S-type V8 was my very first car. Black with chrome waffle grill and 18in chrome wheels. She was a head turner for sure, I’ve never gotten more compliments in any other car. I was scammed and sold a lemon but I was determined to bring that car back to its glory. Rebuilt trans, new radiator, timing belt, thermostat, & numerous hoses. Definitely put more money into the car than it was worth but my love for this vehicle was worth more than any dollar amount. Still got her in the garage but the bumper is all smashed up… (another long story about that)
I have a 2006 STR...love the car, super fast and exotic looking. Its not a daily driver only weekend fun so maintenance is low.
good video thanks
Jaguar 2006 S-type Pretty much just as he stated in the video. But with regular maintenance you can keep it on the road. The doors are starting to slightly rust. Have to see what its going to cost to fix. Other than that it runs great. Thanks for this video.👍
I love this video, very useful! One question: would you say that a 2.5 V6 petrol would still be woth it today, or should I only look at 3.0?
Old video but I just bought an 03 S type with 160k. Runs really smooth but needs a little maintenance. I never knew jags ride so smooth, I'm in love already.

Hi Marcel. I bought a 2001 4.0 s-type 11 months ago. Runs great, though "cats system fault light's on and suspension's stiff (I don't mind, but does that cause a bigger problem if I don't fix it?). There's also been a very slight whine in the steering, audible when parking (ditto, will become a problem if I leave it?) Anyway, 3,000 miles later nothing's gone wrong and I'm very happy with the car. Love to know how yours is going if you read this? Cheers

Objektív és nagyon érdekes bemutatása a Jaguar S-type modelleknek !!!
My first s type was a 2000 with the 4.0. Tensioners were making noise on second day. Tackled the job myself which wasn't that bad. Shortly after that my transmission pooped the bed. 3k dollars for that fix. Kept the car for about 3 years which is long for me. It was comfortable and I already dumped so much money into the transmission I couldn't justify selling it. Second s type was a 2003 4.2v8 sport model. Very sexy. Engine so much more refined. Had the headlight problem that I fixed with a self tapping screw. Leaky valve cover. So much oil on the spark plugs. Coils were dying left and right. Brake problems that were very annoying. Hard to get parts for the sport model since it was rare and had different brakes. An old lady passed out at the wheel and smashed it up. Got it fixed and sold it immediately. Blessing in disguise I guess. Now I'm after a post 2005 R model..... I don't learn

i’ve had the 2000 s-type v6 model with the beige interior, for me it was pretty much dead reliable. you need to be aware of the size of the car because some times you will bump into something but thankfully it has parking sensors. the wooden trim on the dashboard might crack, the windows regulator might fail or the mechanism might “unstick” from the window so the mechanism goes down but not the window so u have to push it manually up and down. maybe the door handle might break. and it’s a blast and relaxing to drive. it might not have bluetooth but it’s dead easy to retrofit something like a amazon echo car, so even smart. repairs might be expensive where you are ( not the case for me) but with proper, regular maintenance, it will run without problems for long. mine has almost 300000km and nothing major has gone wrong other than basic mechanic maintenance. sometimes you will hear a small humming noise with the suspension but isn’t really bad
Excellent!
My well cared for 2001 model is great. Don't mind the interior at all. Cheers
I am in Canada, I own the s type r, I LOVE this car! It goes like bloody hell, I can beat new mustang no problem. Mine never see a snowflake, only drive in summer, .looks brand new, so much respect on the road, always given deference at stop signs etc.

These types of model cars are for the people that knows luxury and classical standards that does not fade. A good investment is designed to preserve for they are assets that are statements of definition and excellence.
All cars have common faults, it's about getting to know your car. I have had 3 s types all bought from the car auction at under £2000, total £6000 for 10 years motoring and still going, cheapest way to own a luxury car, my neighbours hate me!
I needed this.. Have someone trying to sell me one that's well maintenance I was just afraid of the maintenance pricing
Check for rust. Check for rust behind the cill covers. Check for rust in the floor pans. Check for rust in the rear subframe, this can be very expensive to have repaired, usually writes one off unless it's a good R model. Check for rust in front of the rear bumper. Did I say check for rust? My 2002 model had serious rust five years ago, absolutely shocking for a modern car really. Apparently they were galvanised from new... I've got a 1996 VW T4 with 190k hard working miles on it and it has less rust.

Tnx you know what your talking about! I have a 2003 Type. S and I bought it with 95,000 miles have changed the heater thing you talked about! Also D front shock absorbers which cost a lot of money! $280 dollars plus installation! And the Transm. seems to smtms not know if to change from first to second gear but only when you let go of the gas pedal and step on it again! Although I now know not to do that and drives fine! But if other people drive it I think it would do it again! Other than that it's been good for quite a while now! I've driven it 35,000 miles w/no problems so far! Knock on wood! However do they all have that pickup or not cz I've heard other people say they have that problem! I took it to a transmission Pl and they said they could not find anything wrong w/it! I saw one dude on KZread who had the check engine light on with the "performance restriction" and it turned out to be a catalytic converter in his case. I see you made this comment nine months ago - curious to see what you found out the problem was.
I just bought a 2001 Type S 4.0. Although I expect this is all good advice, and I bought this vehicle without doing much research and very limited knowledge about Jaguars, I have no regrets at all at having a good example of the earlier version. This is the cleanest used vehicle I have ever seen which is why I couldn't pass it up, and the test drive is what sold me. The suspension is tight and sporty, the engine is quiet and powerful, and in the case of this particular vehicle, it was VERY low miles, and had to have been religiously garaged because it looks and feels like it just came from the showroom floor. I've already had a problem with the power window on the passenger side, and this seems to be a common issue with them wearing out and the glass going off track. I plan to fix it myself. I guess I fell on the wrong side of all the recommendations here, but I don't regret my purchase. So far the car is flawless (besides the minor window issue) and the purchase price was extremely low. I just couldn't pass up the deal. The interior looks brand new. I'm definitely going to baby the engine, mostly just an occasional driver anyway, I am mostly on two wheels unless it's raining or I have passengers. So far so good. For what I paid for it, I really can't go wrong and it's FUN. Databyter

@@ColeSo4kt I bought mine because it was clean and low miles (for the year), so I really haven't had to do much to it. The engine compartment looks very crowded so I doubt it would be easy to work on from that standpoint. As far as engineering, it seems fairly straightforward but there is a lot of ECU controlled components like most modern cars, so I would avoid buying one with major electrical issues if you plan on working on it yourself or you are comfortable with troubleshooting electrical problems. But as I said, I have had zero problems everything works. At first the sunroof was not working consistently but I realized that it had simply not been used much so I exercise it. Now it works fairly well. The switches and tracks having been revitalized by normal use. This is par for the course for older or stored cars. I had to replace one of the power window controller/motors, and I had the ceiling liner redone. That is about it, and frankly I had both of those done for me because neither was a strong point for my knowledge base. I had to replace an exterior power window which was really easy, and was due to vandalism, not defect. Databyter

I had one of these an x202 3.0 v6 se with cold weather package. Was very reliable, never left me stranded would do 34 mpg on a run. I didn't like the way electric parking brake clunks when it releases if you haven't used the car for a week or so....

Thanks alot for this helpful Video, because at the Moment I'm looking for a S-Type. Do you have any information about the engine control light? Because today I checked out 2 S-Type with the 4.2 engine. At both Cars this control light didn't turned off, that's why I didn't bought it, even they are driving without any Problems.
Hi guy, thanks for the reviews. You helped my with many cars. Did you check the Rover 75 V6 2.5? Thank you very much for your help!!
Thanks for the Review Nacho Libre
I bought a 2005 S-TYPE 4.2L V8 3 years ago. It was perfect then and exciting to drive. Over the past 2 years, it's had so many issues that it's broke down more than up and running. You name it and I've had to work on it or replace it. It needs when more work done to it including the shocks, ball joints, water pump. I've replaced head gasket, brakes, calipers, auxiliary water pump, heater control valve, radiator, multiple sensors, coils, etc. The headliner is coming apart, the sunroof leaks and no longer works, the paint is fading. Lots of cheap plastic parts and wiring. Buyer Beware!

Can you please do Jaguar XJ (X350/X358) thank you!
The 2.7 bi turbo diesel is french and is not recommended. It s expensive to maintenance and also have a overheating issues
I parked my 2003 Jaguar S type for the winter, start it in Spring, the knock sensor code came on, never been on before I parked it .
My s types trans and rear subframe both went bad as well as an overheating problem lol
Going to buy a s type tomorrow 2003, 140,000 miles on it. Hopefully things go well for me.

I have this car still. It’s a nice car don’t care for the color ( dark green) to much but in my opinion it’s my only flaw.
Dude, you are the same dude as Visio racer, right? Are you from Czechia or Slovakia?
I just picked up a 2005 S-Type R [Supercharged]. 86,000 on the clock. I got a fantastic price on it--& a mini vacay to VT, NH & ME to boot! Couldn't be happier!

What jaguar is the black one at the end of the video PLEASE tell me
A car is same a woman, problems or ride good without problems for years, sometimes they need a checkup or replace when to old. A car you need to take care same a woman. And that costs a LOT of money !
My 2005 S Type fuel pump is not like the others if you know how to remove it please let me know
