    For those on a time crunch: I personally get a lot out of 1 or 2 super-slow pull ups per day. Try making a pull up rep last at least 1 minute-i feel myself working upper body muscles I didn’t even know were involved in pull ups when I do this!

    This is so helpful. Ever since my time in the Marine Corps, pull ups are something I’ve always thought work best as a small, daily practice. Thanks for the motivation, and Cheers!

    I love pull ups, so this is a good way to get them in, without putting more stress to the body! Very smart busy dad! 💪🏻

    The lat is the dominant stabilizer for any pushing movement, but pull-ups and bw rows are definitely a necessity to a strong and capable back.

    Lebert dip stands are a good option. Australian pull ups / from down under. High volume is doable.

    Pull ups are a must to have a well balanced program. If you can’t do any, use a resistance band wrapped under one foot to assist. I think pull ups are one of the best exercises period. Many people can do lots of push ups, but can’t do a single pull up. Balance is important.

    Just discovered the BDP. I just completed my 35th day of burpees and yesterday my first 100 navy seals. I can squeeze out a couple of chin up’s but have never been able to do a pull up. Any thoughts or recommendations?

  • @sparkey337

    Dude! Love your enthusiasm and program. Got up to Level 1C but saw that I was developing an imbalance in my posture (chest) from doing 10 pull-ups a day and the 80 minutes of BDP weekly with my chest getting stronger and shoulders starting to roll forward. But, I absolutely loved the fitness benefits of going 20 solid minutes and what it did for my core and endurance! I tried to think what the exact opposite of a burpee that would work/even out my back and came up with a "Navy Seal 6-count ring row" : Set rings about hip height, drop to a row position, row, then knee up, row, other knee up, row strong pull to a standing position. I alternate Navy Seals with Navy Seals row for 20 minutes and it lights me up and really keeps my posture strong. Any suggestions or thoughts? Cheers bro and keep moving!

    What about your lower back? I love pull ups and I love the idea of a burpee only program but the one concern I have is the lower back. I have done kettbells swings or deadlifts to keep my lower back strong. Do you have any suggestions on how to incorporate a lower back exercise alongside the burpee program?

  • @busydadtraining

    @busydadtraining

    Hey my man, you could program two swing sessions on your off days, also going for a 20 minute amrap format. But I also think that with the toe tap at the start of the rep, the posterior chain gets decent activation in the burpee. I haven't done a swing or a deadlift in literally years, and I still feel strong and grounded. I'm confident that if I went into the gym tomorrow, I could still pull a solidly respectable weight

    So if my training now consist To do 8 set Of 25 burpees and between each set I do 10 pull ups that is not good for you and you recommand To do only ten pull ups each morning is enough ?

  • @Jake-Sparrow
    @Jake-Sparrow Жыл бұрын

    Now that you’ve been doing the 10 pull-ups daily for some time, have you considered increasing the reps for your morning set? Or maybe just doing a max rep set every morning? Also, I think you’d appreciate the royal marine style of pull-ups (2-3 second pause at the top and bottom of each rep).

    Thanks for your message, my man! Yes, I like extending the dead hang at the bottom of the movement. And I occasionally add extra pulls if I have time and inclination, but ten per day is the year round baseline. If the rep quality is good enough, I truly believe it's all you need!

    Great topic. I think the BDP is great. I do a lot of 6 counts and Navy Seals and this is my main additional exercise. However, is there an argument to say that even better than a pull up is a chin up because of the bicep activation that is not so pronounced in the burpees and pull ups?

    @@busydadtraining Yes, I actually mix up pull ups and chin ups (first and foremost) and other exercises inc. body weight, some weights and a good bit of running and swimming. Burpees are the baseline. Fortunately I have the time, if not, burpees all the way, thanks to the inspiration from you and the rest of the burpee community 🫡 ✌️ 🙏

    Yea change it up for variance. What also works nice is the neutral grip. I have a multigrip pullup bar that I change grips during a workout or the day, so every kind of grip helps.

    In my experience pull ups gave me the majority of my bicep mass (they grew so fast I got stretch marks) so I would say chin ups are not necessarily any better and if anything your biceps give out before your lats are fully exhausted

    Hi there. Thanks for all your effort and this channel. I will try your program. You also have an amazing physique. But, you should be honest, obviously with all your little "add ons" like pull-ups and whatever else you do, the BDP becomes a little less credible in terms of how you look. It is just not the only exercise you do, if u know what I mean? Anyways, keep up the great work and thanks for helping other people. Love from Germany.
