Great advice, I've been doing 20 within 20 minutes every day I can, and resting on the days where I'm super sore. My work is physical as well, so I don't want to push it and be in pain or risk an injury. My plan is to do 20 within 20 minutes until I can do 20 straight, and then test in properly. By then my body will be acclimated. I've done 4 days worth of 20 navy seals so far, and I am now to the point where my soreness is highly reduced. Great advice! I remember hearing it's better to go home on a crappy workout than get hurt and be out longer potentially due to injury. I've been doing some 20min burpees for the past 2-3 weeks already, but I already have some wrist issues, so I modified to use parallettes. Also hurt myself after years and years of typical pullups because I was trying to go further my range of motion doing chest to bar a week ago, but that pinched a nerve in my elbow.
@tommaguzzi1723

Good timing for me Max. Just sustained a pulled chest muscle but probably not due to the BDP. However, just easing back for recovery to come back stronger and more motivated. I know its the right thing to do, listening to my body, even though I really don't want to miss out on the 80 mins per week training working towards 1C which speaks volumes for the BDT protocol. Will be looking at some of the accessory movements in the interim (4 count with squat).

Hi Max, Week one is nearly done, got 67 6 counts in on Monday, could only get 22 navy seals on Tues, took a rest on Wed, and got 25 navy seals yesterday. I'm aiming for more tomorrow. Is it normal to have such a difference in numbers between the two? I'm finding the navy seals are infinitely more difficult than the 6 counts. Thanks for all your videos and your dedication to helping people like myself who only found you recently.
@busydadtraining
Жыл бұрын
100% normal! You're in fact perfectly aligned with both movements at the 1B level!! Congratulations, my friend!!
@czarregal Жыл бұрын
Looking forward to watching this one but I have a quick question for you Max: if I train into level 2 on my navy seals today but need another week or so to get there with my 6 counts, will I still have achieved level 2, or do I need to do it all in the same week? I want to stay consistent with your vision for the program! Thanks for your help! And now that I’ve finished the video, even after years of training, the advice here is fantastic to hear, especially the “plateau” experience. It is waiting for all of us and we all can climb past it! Thank you and heal fast Max!
@busydadtraining
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind words, my man! As for your question -- once you've unlocked both workouts, you're officially a Level 2 practitioner, whether that's in the same week or not -- but be aware that it's easy to slip back to the level below. Once unlocked does not mean always unlocked. When you graduate the program, you must complete both graduation workouts within a week.

Really great advice! When I found your channel I was chomping at the bit to get going on the program and start getting back I to shape. As a former high level athlete up until 30 yrs old ( now 42) I figured that my body had enough experience and muscle memory to jump feet first and get after it. But after 2 weeks I have been experiencing some pretty good rotator cuff/ bicep tendon tendonitis. After hearing this I know now that in my mind I'm still an in shape athlete but in reality I needed to go way slower and reintroduce my body and muscles more realistically. Any advice for experiencing tendonitis on this program? Thanks!
@busydadtraining

Man, I've never encountered that particular issue. I would guess just to follow whatever advice is out there for treating tendonitis and maybe deliberately cutting down on your reps per session by say 25%?

I’m wondering what noticeable muscle gains can be made through these burpees? Is your muscle definitely just from these program or did you already have it before starting?
@busydadtraining

In my own case, the miracle of burpee training is more that I have not lost muscle in spite of not lifting weights in three years. But many many of the busy dads who come to the movement without a prior background in lifting have super impressive muscle gain. I also have a mass building program for those who want to leverage the movement for pure mass gaining purposes

BusyDad, does it matter if you do the reps all together and then give yourself a longer time to have a breather as opposed to doing exactly each rep within the allotted time-frame? I started recently, 1B right now 🗿 will keep moving forward until I get that goal of 50 bpm heart rate. Lets get it
Thank's for the heads up. I started at the lowest level. It was too much for me. I'm in bad shape :) I'm going to stick to It, and work upwards. I really like this program. It's not a competition, it's a mission:)

That's exactly the right approach, brother.

I had a wrist problem so now I use a tight elastic support bandage on it and started doing the pushups on my fists instead of palms to keep the wrist from doing that 90 degree bend. That has worked for me.

Excellent, intelligent approach, Stephen. I really hope you've found a sustainable work-around for the wrist issue
Wise words. Too many go full steam ahead … progressive overload and consistency is key for both body and mind.
Great work and messege Max. Keep getting after it brother! I’m glad you are stressing low and slow.. starting slow with many burpees is important. Longevity is important!

Wonderful to hear!!! Welcome!!!!!

I haven’t added the 10 pull-ups a day to my morning routine yet but I’m surprised with how sore my lats are right now! The soreness however isn’t discouraging. I’m eager to test in for the Navy SEALS but I’m gonna wait, like you advised, for this soreness to subside.
Woohoo Go Max!!! You're killing it mate.

Excellent, excellent advice! I just tested in at level 1C for both burpee variations and I was brutally sore each time for about 5 days.. and before you made this video I had the thought that I definitely did too much too soon and was surprised how tough these workouts were. I'm moderately in shape and these burpees whooped me pretty good, but I'm looking forward to slowing things down a little and hoping for steady progress. Thanks for introducing me to your program Max!

Not softness at all!! There's an adjustment period for your body. Work with your body and before long you'll feel no soreness between sessions

An absolute pleasure, sir!!
@busydadtraining
Жыл бұрын
100% normal! You're in fact perfectly aligned with both movements at the 1B level!! Congratulations, my friend!!
@busydadtraining

@@busydadtraining thank you for your feedback, as always! I got to 81 seals tonight following your landmark video and I’m excited to get the last bit of the 6 counts to Level 2. The program is perfect!
Great advise. Are there any videos of your early training days? Also I know you spoke briefly about the pull-ups and we’re not here to complicate things and add more work BUT could you talk about your pull-up journey a bit for those of us that would like to get those in as well. Thanks for all you do.

@@busydadtraining looking forward to the video. Thank you. Going for the JC workout in a few minutes.
Thanks!
@busydadtraining
Жыл бұрын
Man, I've never encountered that particular issue. I would guess just to follow whatever advice is out there for treating tendonitis and maybe deliberately cutting down on your reps per session by say 25%?
@Matt_Sanchez

@Busy Dad Training Thanks for the feedback! I will take your advice and cut back 25%. It's more important that I cut back and allow my body to adapt , then build up from there, rather than injure myself and be out altogether.

First attempt today. Got 110 six counts. But I found my push up muscles gave up before my cardio system. Quite quickly, I could not get 5 in a row without my push up form suffering. All rest needed was to let anterior shoulders recover. I wasn't out of breath as such. Is this normal?
@busydadtraining

Makes sense, my man! Keep up the good work!
I’m wondering what noticeable muscle gains can be made through these burpees? Is your muscle definitely just from these program or did you already have it before starting?
@busydadtraining
Жыл бұрын
In my own case, the miracle of burpee training is more that I have not lost muscle in spite of not lifting weights in three years. But many many of the busy dads who come to the movement without a prior background in lifting have super impressive muscle gain. I also have a mass building program for those who want to leverage the movement for pure mass gaining purposes
BusyDad, does it matter if you do the reps all together and then give yourself a longer time to have a breather as opposed to doing exactly each rep within the allotted time-frame? I ask because I find it difficult to concentrate watching the clock for each 10 second period (or whatever it might be) and often find my mind wandering.
