I'm 78 yrs. old, have cancer and kidney failure etc. and even though I can't get up and dance to this song, I'm pretty good at dancing in my chair. lol He just lifts my spirit listening to him and watching him perform. I give thanks to you, Bruce, for making my day a little brighter.

I met a Girl 25 Ago. 20 Years are we married now. Dancing in the Dark was our First Dance on the Wedding! Thank you Bruce that you have written all these Songs for us .
Almost impossible to believe, I was at that show in June 1984 at the St Paul Civic Center, Bruce played that song 3 times in a row to get all the footage needed, he was so apologetic and we just didn’t care! The crowd went wild when he pulled that girl on stage to dance, we didn’t know she was planted there or that 10 years later, she would become Monica on Friends. Now I watch this and I feel like I’m there again.

Bittersweet song for me. My mom would drop whatever she was doing whenever this video came on and dance with Bruce. My mom passed away a month ago and this song will forever be a beautiful memory of her. Update: Wow. So many likes! I really only posted this to share and vent a little bit. I think all great performers have those things, but every at their given time/era. For me it's clear he had. It´'s too much say that all is only talent, like he was born like that and never trained voice/singing, stage performance (dance), had someone else saying "try this shirt/pants/belt haircut"
I'm 79 years old and I still dance all over my house ❤. Love this song. ❤❤❤❤
I’m 40 years old now. I had to quit driving 9 years ago due to my rare form of non-convulsive epilepsy progressing into non-convulsive absence seizures. My mom also died last month from breast cancer. Sometimes I feel like my life consists of taking the bus back & forth to work, & sitting around the house. However this song reminds me that there’s always something happening somewhere, you can't start a fire worrying about your little world falling apart, & you can’t start a fire without a spark.
This resonates so deep within my soul. I'm a black man who loves old school r&b and rap music. But damn, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS SONG. The lyrics talk about getting out of the rut you're in and going out to start living again. What a MASTERPIECE Bruce

I always felt the same way since first hearing this years ago. Music has a way of allowing for communication that is of a higher form than linguistics and this song is a prime example of that. The earnest desperation of life’s struggles and the angst and yearning that comes with it is greatly expressed here. The rhythmic beats, poetry, sounds have a way of expressing this far more accurately than words ever could. Sentences and speech we just a means to an end and a rather ineffective one at that. Music does it better. It’s a strong plea of desperation and also expresses the emptiness and void of “dancing in the dark” that can seem inescapable.

This is the song that awoke me in difficult times. I mirrored myself in the lyrics, it truly described how I felt and what I was going through in such a personal, clean and profound way. It made me feel understood, not alone, I used to listen to it before I had a test at university, before a great event, when I was feeling extra happy, when I needed a boost of strenght or when I was feeling like shit. It's mesmerizing to me how this tune can convey such different messages and talk to everyone. It still inspires me not to give up on anything. This song is truly magical and I think it will always be my favourite. Thanks Springsteen.

Tell me about it…
Like someone wrote before. This song is bittersweet for me. My mother’s favorite Springsteen song. 12 years ago, she was sick in the hospital and I went out to run an errand. When I turned on the fm radio of my car this song started to play. It was a beautiful morning, the sky was sparkling blue with a nice breeze and a few clouds, but the moment I heard the song, I don’t know how but I just knew she had passed away. A few seconds later my brother called me to say that I needed to return to the hospital. He didn’t want to say why but I knew. RIP mom I love and miss you. And thanks for your wonderful music taste. 😘

No one has been able to sing it as energetic and soul searching as Bruce ❤ and it’s 2024. The way he engages the crowd, makes eye contact with the few lucky girls at the front and then picks one and makes her feel so special is his trademark. And to think he wrote this song overnight. What a legend!
It's 2023 , and this song didn't lose it's shine . Such is the charm ✨

I'm 13 right now, I first heard this song when my Grandfather played it to me around 4 years ago. It has been my favourite every since. Unfortunately he passed away last year, today on his death anniversary this song makes me remember him... He told me that after he heard this song, he realised he needs to follow his heart, and not do what his father told him to... Keep playing 'BOSS MAN', you'll inspire thousands of people to chase their dreams, as you already have. BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN = 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐

This song is one of my favorites to this day since it came out when I was 6yrs old. My Dad would turn it up,we would sing at the top of our lungs, and dance together. My Dad is now gone 7 yrs and every time I listen to this song it brings me to tears, but also wonderful memories.❤ Especially, if it was on the radio and we were at a red light. Since, tinted windows were not a thing, everyone could see us singing our hearts out. Dancing too.

I love how hopeful this song is. Even though he's struggling and wants to escape his life, it's still triumphant and beautiful. About reaching for something else, wanting more from your life and being honest about your struggles. Also the character may be considered a loser, they are willing to set themselves on fire for some movement and excitement in their life- it's revolutionary

I remember Bruce visiting Argentina in 1988 with Amnesty. He was the last of the musicians, and after an exhausting day of concert, the energy and spirit of this man made an entire stadium (the River Plate Monumental, no less) phenomenally reborn. That day I fell in love with Peter Gabriel, but I will never forget the sensation that Bruce caused. You are not BS by chance.
It is so touching reading people's stories of love and life around this song. They are as good as the song itself.
This song emits such energy. The band is on fire with this one. A great workout song or if you are feeling down it really lifts your spirits. Thank you Bruce!!!🙏🙏🙏
