Great video. How do you like the Hop Blocker? Does it work well? Also, how much did your setup cost you (if you don't mind me asking)?

How do you calculate your efficiencies? I'm a whole grain brewer and all I really do is track my numbers and my beer so far has always turned out well. Just not sure exactly what people even mean when they say something like went from 86 to 89%. Please help me out here :)

I built a system that is very similar to yours... I have a couple questions if you wouldn't mind responding. What efficiencies do you normally get with your system? (Not that important, just want to know if what I'm getting is on par) How big are you kettles?

I have only done 2 runs and my efficiency has been bouncing between 86 and 89%. My buddy Lewis says he gets the same and sometimes the low 90s. As far as being on par, there are so many factors to consider. The crush, the temperature, the recirculation, and transfer rate to boil can affect your numbers.

+Smarty Pints I did another batch today and the brew day went better than the first. I think my issue is with my PID settings. I wasn't able to hold my temp very constant. There seems to be a 4 degree swing from when the element fires and turns off. So when I have it set to 150 it will not shut the element off until it hits 154 and won't turn it in again Intel the temp in the tube is 146. Can you share what your PID settings are?

If you want to hit efficiencies in the 90s, you need to stir the grist right before mashout and thoroughly rinse your grain bed.
